  • Where is your studio?

  • I want to start ballet but I am already 18 years old. While I know it's next to impossible to become a professional, will I be able to go on pointe eventually? Will I still be able to reach a high level of ballet?

  • @TsubasaDreams

It is not impossible to become a professional or to learn pointe, it just depends on the training that is available to you and your commitment to it. Even in Russian history several dancers who began their training at 16 went on to become legends, so anything is possible. With an intense focus on correct placement, a person can achieve a high professional level in 2 to 3 years beginning from 0 if they're willing to study 6 days a week with a combination of private lessons&class

  • @conshera Thank you so much for your answer. I truly appreciate it. If you don't mind answering this, how will I know if a certain studio is appopriate and 'good' enough?

  • @TsubasaDreams

The best way to make that assessment is to talk to current students; google the school to see what info you can find out about them, but the most important thing to find out is if their students are inured; this is very common in America. You can also send me a link to the schools you're interested in and I can do some research for you. I'm doing a blog about how to select a school in a couple weeks so please check back.

    Cheers,

    Eric Conrad

  • This is a good comprehensive answer, and it is an important point that those dancers who had to struggle more for theirs techniques may become the better teachers.
