  • I just recognized this guy on the last issue of Kung Fu Magazine. Truly magnificent.

  • @NexusJunisBlue yup, you should see him do the miao dao

  • all the same, all styles are one family;-)) for me!

  • We need more videos like these. Masters sharing information on their martial arts. I like this atmosphere.

  • @OVERCAPITALIZE i have more videos of master Wang and this nights dinner I didn't subtittle and put on the tube yet

  • pi qua?Da Shin pi qua?monkey style?

  • @DaDaoChen no no no, pi (chop) gua (hang) fist. its a northern style. every played Tekken 3(Ling Xiaoyu's style) or Dead or Alive(Helena Douglas style)?

  • @Maaguaa LOL no,however,it sounded ver similar of dai shin pi gua,see below link

Yes I'm not very familiar of northern style,we chinese has 850 different styles lol,I'm Hung Gar,Did you just start taking wing chung?

  • @DaDaoChen I've been training in TWC for a year. I kind of like some northern styles because they are loose and relaxed where southern styles are tense and tight (like Hung Gar). but I also like some southern style that better in manuvering and northern style is more force on force.

Piguaquan is more focused on tendon development where as you hung gar people are more into muscle development I guess?

TWC is a very soft art that focus on manuvering, which is what I like

  • @Maaguaa I think you got them reverse a lil,but it's okay,I'm a practitioner and also taught for the last 20 yrs,Hung gar is developement of tendon, bone, and skin/muscle( jin, goo,pi).develope internal strength(Nei-Gin) hardness in softness, softness in hardness,is the basis of the tiger crane double pattern, and the ten pattern, and ironwire set,is to develope chi and strengthen internal organs to prevent internal injusries from powerful blows.it is traditional souther shaolin, brother of wingchun

  • @DaDaoChen my impression of hung gar is that it is very hard, tense, and tight. I practice tradition wing chun of GM wiliam cheung, which is a very soft style. In also hung gar, choy le fut, pi gua fist discussed in this video, lama fist, tibetan white crane, etc have wide arch swings of arms/fists (sao kuen), which is absent in Wing Chun. I used those moves, however. Check out my tournament video :)

check out out master wang performing at LA wushu competition.

the looseness of his movement...scary huh?

  • @Maaguaa I respect all Chinese martial artists and style,I can see their skill in transtions and movements, however,I don't compare style to style, only admire,as it is all that's left from our ancestors, and I charish every single one of them. now the da shin pi gua masterwas also extreamly skilled,if you can see his solidness in the stance, the hardness in the soft ,and agileness in the slow,it's a rare video and not one person can prform the lost monkey set like him,now that was very scary to me.

  • @DaDaoChen agreed. I am wondering how would these ancient traditions fit into the 21st century

  • @Maaguaa Brother,The theory is there for you to apply, not limited to the form,it is how you apply in the real world, does not matter what centrie you are in, There is no form or theory when you no longer apply the style,it is just a part of you however you fight,The thing is if you have absorbed the system, have you suffered and got the "gong fu"...most don't and get beat up,few do and came on top.

  • I feel like Plum Pub robbed me now...

    Great stuff Master Zhihai!

  • Cool, thanks for subtitling, really appreciate it.

  • amazing! master Wang Zhihai is a true exponent of traditional wushu styles alive today! thanks for sharing this insighful experience with him!
