  • whoever dislikes this classic does not know the true feeling of being in love

  • One of the most beutiful songs! The music is hyponotic.

  • Anybody know the chords in this? In particular, the two that go under the guitar solo

  • Such a beautiful song that transports one to the past - the 70's!

  • I was 16. I had this album and would play this song over and over and over.....

  • this is music at its best. rod temperton killed this one! you here music today and no effort or heart put into. just a non talent having ass person in the studio with the beat already made and vocals adjusted on a machine to make them sound like they can sing and the lyrics are just elementary.

  • Johnny Wilder, the best falsetto singer in my book! May his soul rest in so much peace!

  • i am having trouble finding more heatwave music on you tube this stuff makes me think of my mom

  • The summer of 1977. Humbolt Park now call MLK park was the place to be.

  • Also sampled by ATCQ on The Low End Theory....... ;)

  • @djmochadivine Yeah, that album was butter. Look up J Dilla's(Rest In Beats) flip of it on "Lets take it back".He killed it beyond recognition, in a good way.

  • George Benson version is so KILLIN' I love it. This is version is nice too but George's version is sooo haunting and the way track was recorded is a sure 'nuff a knockout. I'm diggin' this version as well. Rod Temperton is/was a genius.

The 70's kicked plenty of ass..............

  • I just want to add one more thing.... Its always great to hear that young people are discovering this wonderful music. The magic of music is that it always sounds exactly the same as it did when you first heard it. God bless groups like Heatwave, they've given us all great joy over the years.

  • mac miller trippin out sample

  • I just found out that George Benson was not the original version

  • OMG!! So this is the source material for the song Verses from the Abstract from A Tribe Called Quest. This is AMAZING.

  • The Tribe sent me here.

  • Was this jam copied by George Benson or visa versa by Heat Weave because both of them are very excellent.

  • My GOD, folks, there are soooooooooo many layers to this jam, it's impossible to compose how AWESOME this really is!!! NOTE TO SELF: MUST FIND THIS ALBUM AND PLAY IT TO SUDDEN DEATH! - J

  • Overall, the masses of the people have been tricked, bamboozled and hoodwinked when it comes to real music.Getting them ready for Agenda 21. This is why the music had to be attacked and watered down

  • Dayumm....good memories of playing this album and getting cozy with a few ladies. This was a good song to get to know one another with!

  • Rod Temperton kicked butt with Heatwave them went on and helped Michael Jackson with Off The Wall! Both great albums!

  • every time i see advertising i just skip to another video

and you should also....shit is a blower

  • yes wdas from Philly as well I'm 37 and all I can remember is hearing this on wdas! Grew up on this staion as well!

  • this jam is absolutely beautiful!

  • My goodness! wow! Tribe brought me here and im blown away!

  • mezmerized, n hypnotized each time I listen to this.

  • This might be one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. It's like an adult lullaby. Johnnie isn't even pushing his voice - it sounds so effortless. Beautiful. Rod Temperton wrote an amazing classic. This is the definitive version of the song.

I wonder if they ever did a live version of this song. I would LOVE to hear it!

  • Ppl, please, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and tastes in music. There is no right opinion or right music. It's a matter of what you like. Not every one is going to like what you like and vice versa. No need to fight over who's version is better. I absolutely love both Heatwaves' and George's version. However, I prefer George's. Does that make me right? No....it's just my OPINION.

  • @calvarybroughtmein You like what you like....I like Benson's version as well, A LOT, but I love Heatwave's version. = )

  • this is Cadillac music at it's best and follow it up with Major Harris, it's a Chitown thing...

  • @dOLOSTIMULUS who are you? you are on point!

  • @808kmb i'm a southside Bronzevillian, I'm from another era, from the Budfest in Washington Park to the 31st street beach in the 80's, raised by wolves in taylor made suits....

  • Wow! I knew this from Tribe Called Quest and now that I'm hearing the real.... SLAMMIN TUNE!

  • I absolutely love dis song. Its an excellent composition

  • I know exactly what you mean, MelbaSoul.... this was the time...

  • =>

  • God loves you so much that he die on that cross just for you my friend;)

  • What I would'nt give to do back to 1978 when I was in high school and this song was the shit (and still is now). Not a care in the world. Just teenagers hanging out slow dancing to this song. So many family and friends that have since passed away would still be alive. I wish I could go back yall! Ya know what I mean?

  • @MelbaSoul yes I know what you mean

  • CLASSIC 70'S almost makes me wish I could go back to when times were much simplier. we didn't have much, but we good times and GREAT MUSIC

  • I love this song..I was about 13 and it made me think about my crush in this girl I was to shy to talk to until...I finally did...she became my high school sweetheart..we are still close to this day...I will always love her...my advice..hold on toyour true love no matter what! Peace and Blessings!

  • @oldmantook1 - I did last night i played this song over and over and beggain to cry... i was thinking of Rod's genius which then led me to think about Michael...it was a sad night - peace

  • @essiusc Wow..knock on wood..this is scary...I've been playing this over & over...love the song...always have...I just love how Johnnie Wilder blended his own voice on this particular cut...reminds me of something that Marvin Gaye would do..and it also brought me to tears...May Johnnie, Michael & Marvin all Rest In Peace. <3

  • @oldmantook1 A very beautiful song, really slept on Heatwave man. Its getting me through things at the moment as I'm having some serious problems with my girlfriend, well we split up in fact. Think it might be too late to tell her that I love her. Seriously regret that.

I always thought it was a combination of great black and white artists in Heatwave that made this song. Best of everyone's effort to make this incredible masterpiece. I cant believe anyone could compare this to GB version, no disrepect to GB,, but please...

  • @ironwha One of my all time top 5 ever, also All I Am

  • Whoever don't like this song don't know good music

  • yesss...when those guitar strings came in, slightly allusive to Latin funk jazz in a way. a very ambient tune . I like it.

  • This is such a great song - I always wanted someone to play this for me and say that I meant that much to them. Alas, no one ever did but this will always bring back memories and will always remain a classic!!!

  • I JUST POSTED THIS ON FACEBOOK!!!!

  • Wow! I can not believe that the People Under the stairs sampled this on their track E' Business and A Tribe Called Quest's Verses from the Abstract

  • THIS IS ONE OF BEST SONGS EVER CREATED/MANIFESTED !!! THANK U !!!!

  • The People Under Stairs sampled this for there record : E Business & The Group "A Tribe Called Quest"'s Verses from the Abstract.

  • sexy music

  • I buy more and more cd's just because of YT. This is the last one I purchased. :-) Those copyright owners should know! Can't buy anything I don't know, do I?

  • How can someone dislike this? Maybe their taste is at the wrong end of their body...

  • theres something sinister about that heatwave pic and the intro. great tune!

  • This is definitely a timeless classic written and composed by one of the greatest songrwriters to date- Rod Temperton. What you are hearing is REAL music consisting of a violin section, flute, drums, guitar, fender rhodes, acoustic, spanish and bass guitars. Performed by artists. That's the difference between this real music and today's garbage.

  • @cleandiaper

You are so right on with your message here...it is dead on.. Todays so call music is just Juke..!

  • @cleandiaper ...preach it...this is real music and vocals...no machines here or autotune crap !!

  • @cleandiaper What you're forgetting is that there is still music like this today, and back then there would of been just as much shite going around as there is today it's just you only remember the best stuff, besides this is a different time, music is always evolving it's one big cycle as you get older you tend to hate the newer music lol

  • @TomK2k9 Trust me the "newer music" is GARBAGE!!! You're ears have been tuned and accustomed to hip hop and cRAP. It's not your fault, that's the vomit that they play for you and you like it.

  • @cleandiaper wow so ignorant and wrong. im embarrassed for you

  • @cleandiaper I completely agree. My dad played this for me once in the car listening to Howard University's radio station and i was hooked from that point on and that's when i discovered Rod Temperton. He's my favorite songwriter of all time.

  • Currensy sampled this for "Blaze" . The sample sounds great. I love being directed back to the originals.

  • My girl put me up on this song classic!

  • Love this song...

  • continue to rest well johnnie.

  • This song would be great as part of a movie sound track.

  • is that minnie riperton doing the eerie screams?

  • Guess I'm just a bitter old man but ALL music made today does nothing for me, give me some Heatwave or SOS Band before Jay-Z, R. Kelly, or Diddy.

  • I don't know why the rappers won't MIX IT?

  • The 70s such a MAGICAL ERA~

  • When i hear this song it brings back to college (UMES) I was hopelessly in love with its girl. and this was the song that said it all of the emotion and soul one could muster is in this. I know it is cliche but they just don't create music like this today .Listening to do this will always bring me back to those days of unrequited young love, full of hope and dreams

  • @adamjam219
