I went up with an instructor and I tried landing there (private pilot for 20 years). It took me until the third landing to make it. This is a tough airport.
fuk me!! Another airport built in a risky place. I am no pilot, but i'm sure you have to be pretty skilled to take this on. I don't understand why they build airports in these difficult places. I mean, are they trying to make it difficult for pilots to land planes? I suppose it wouldn't be as much fun flying if pilots didn't have these challenges.
Exemplary landing. Flying level before the hill and missing it by a few feet is unnecessary and less safe and a less stabilized approach. i'd like to see the windsock.
i dont know whether the pilot was an actual commerical pilot for St Barth Commuter or Winair or they were just a va pilot, but i think they kno how to land there pretty dam well seeing a special requirement is needed to be able to land at that airport ;)
I think it was a great landing on what has to be one of the most difficult approaches. very smooth on a runway thats only 2170ft long. thats 1000 feet shorter that what I learned to fly on and I thought that was small.
cant people do a something like a kai tak approach from the other end?

Hi,
Did you find the instructor on the island? I wan`t to do some landings there. It would be a nice addition to the license..
