When I saw a bld in the city with a Flag on the top, I had to ask my husband "what does that mean?" He told me it was put their when they reach the top and final floor. If you have heard all the stuff going on in Wisconsin about collective barganing for the teachers and stuff then you might understand what i am saying. The teachers left there jobs in February and some schools were shut down and stuff. How do they not get fired!!!! My dad is an automotive technician. He works 42.5 hours a week every week. He gets no benifits like the teachers do. No pension, retirement and any of that stuff. I don't see him leaving his job to go complain.
@SpitFireFarley Your dad could've chosen to work at a better job. Just like they chose to be teachers. Put yourself in their place, where they have a contract they're expected to follow, and likewise they expect Scott Walker to follow. I guarantee you many of those teachers used benefit time they had saved up. I'm a union worker. I was a non-union worker for 10 years and I don't ever want a non-union job again.
@ajd1211 Yes he could of, but he didn't. If everybody wanted to have a better job there would be nobody to do other jobs that are just as important. Somebody has to fix the cars, somebody has to do the plumbing, somebody has to build the houses. They all are important, and somebody has to do them. But why do they deserve any better than any other worker who went to college. Yes, they may have used benefit time, but some school districts were closed. Like in Madison and some in Green Bay.
@SpitFireFarley Let me think here for a bit. Plumbing: There's a union for that. Building houses: There's a union for that too. There's also a union for mechanics called the UAW. Your dad could choose to join a union and get better pay and benefits. Those teachers, who were blamed for shutting down schools, were using benefit time their employer agreed to. If the teachers are blamed, the school district is just as much to blame for agreeing to the benefit time.
@ajd1211 Not here there isn't. I have family in all those professions. Maybe in building houses my relative could but not my relative who is the plumber. My dad's shop doesn't have enough people that want to get involved into the union. Many of the people there don't want a union . Okay, well in general the whole government system has to be blamed. If they wouldn't have been stupid with money in the first place, i wouldn't be arguing over this.
@SpitFireFarley You finally saw my point. Believe it or not, many people think public employee unions are greedy pigs who simply just take. It's not called collective "bargaining" because we get everything we want. If that were the case, it'd be "collective taking." We give up this to get that. For example, in my state, we've been deferring 2% of our raises order to make sure there are no layoffs for public employees until June of 2012. The state responded by freezing our pay. How's that fair.
@ajd1211 They don't get everything they want. I know a guy who works at factory and they lost benefits and had a pay freeze and stuff about 3 years ago so the company wouldn't move elsewhere. Well last week the company decided to close the plant and is going to ship its operations to someplace else. He had to give a little so the company wouldn't move, but it still did. The teachers can give a little as well. No it isn't fair one bit.

When I saw a bld in the city with a Flag on the top, I had to ask my husband "what does that mean?" He told me it was put their when they reach the top and final floor. It's been an AMERICAN tradition for so long he couldn't even remember when it was first started. Don't know why but it made me proud to see that flag up their flying the colors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have heard all the stuff going on in Wisconsin about collective barganing for the teachers and stuff then you might understand what i am saying. The teachers left there jobs in February and some schools were shut down and stuff. How do they not get fired!!!! My dad is an automotive technician. He works 42.5 hours a week every week. He gets no benifits like the teachers do. No pension, retirement and any of that stuff. I don't see him leaving his job to go complain.

@SpitFireFarley Your dad could've chosen to work at a better job. Just like they chose to be teachers. Put yourself in their place, where they have a contract they're expected to follow, and likewise they expect Scott Walker to follow. I guarantee you many of those teachers used benefit time they had saved up. I'm a union worker. I was a non-union worker for 10 years and I don't ever want a non-union job again.

@ajd1211 Yes he could of, but he didn't. If everybody wanted to have a better job there would be nobody to do other jobs that are just as important. Somebody has to fix the cars, somebody has to do the plumbing, somebody has to build the houses. They all are important, and somebody has to do them. But why do they deserve any better than any other worker who went to college. Yes, they may have used benefit time, but some school districts were closed. Like in Madison and some in Green Bay.

@SpitFireFarley Let me think here for a bit. Plumbing: There's a union for that. Building houses: There's a union for that too. There's also a union for mechanics called the UAW. Your dad could choose to join a union and get better pay and benefits. Those teachers, who were blamed for shutting down schools, were using benefit time their employer agreed to. If the teachers are blamed, the school district is just as much to blame for agreeing to the benefit time.

@ajd1211 Not here there isn't. I have family in all those professions. Maybe in building houses my relative could but not my relative who is the plumber. My dad's shop doesn't have enough people that want to get involved into the union. Many of the people there don't want a union . Okay, well in general the whole government system has to be blamed. If they wouldn't have been stupid with money in the first place, i wouldn't be arguing over this.

@SpitFireFarley You finally saw my point. Believe it or not, many people think public employee unions are greedy pigs who simply just take. It's not called collective "bargaining" because we get everything we want. If that were the case, it'd be "collective taking." We give up this to get that. For example, in my state, we've been deferring 2% of our raises order to make sure there are no layoffs for public employees until June of 2012. The state responded by freezing our pay. How's that fair.

@ajd1211 They don't get everything they want. I know a guy who works at factory and they lost benefits and had a pay freeze and stuff about 3 years ago so the company wouldn't move elsewhere. Well last week the company decided to close the plant and is going to ship its operations to someplace else. He had to give a little so the company wouldn't move, but it still did. The teachers can give a little as well. No it isn't fair one bit.

It seems like our government is trying to do away with "a hard hat and a hammer" every time I talk to someone who wears a hard hat it seems theyre getting laid off. And yes Mr. Jackson is getting up there in years, his was the first country concert I ever went to in 1995 I believe. Still making great American songs.
