Atheism is not caused by christians doing it all wrong, setting a bad example. It has little to do with it, actually. Science and History have to do with it. Reading something else besides the bible and researching about the very roots of christianity are more like it. Study the bible, don´t just read it and you´ll see, if you are not blindfolded by dogmas, prejudice, and the fear of celestial punishment for doubting. Thinking by our own is the main cause of atheism.
What people who are not followers of Jesus see so often is professing Christians speaking and writing with arrogance and conceit. Sharing your faith should be done with unconditional love, peace, and joy. No one is "better" than anyone else and the way you speak or write should not be a source of alienation, but of love.

The true definition of Christianity is believing in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christianity is not a path or a lifestyle, it's a person, not rules but a relationship.
And faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1) Faith is only as valid in the object in which it is placed.

Correction to you all being a christian isnt a religion or faith, ITS A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. Religion is the belief in a diety and faith is the trust in something that canntot be seen or felt by defantion. As christians we have a personal relationship with God.

Muslims, Hindus, and Buddishts all have FAITH in their "gods" yet that does not make them correct. What that passage was refering to is excepting God as your Savior and proclaiming His son to be the only way to Him is the ONLY way to savation, not the good deeds we preform.

I've been a Christian all my life and I'm going through horrible trials and no end insight, and it's just hard very hard to continue being optimistic and trusting in the Lord but that's exactly what we're suppose to do in terrible times. Being a Christian is the hardest thing one can be, being a non-believer is so easy, the whole world is at your feet for you to enjoy. =(

Being a Christian is in no-way-shape-or-form difficult in most Western Democracies. If you live in a middle eastern nation that persecutes Christians then.. perhaps you're right but persecution isn't just confined to Christianity.
