Now that is a beautiful skirt...more beautiful than any designer craze of the moment ppft dolce gabana versace. This is classically beautiful can't top that. Thank you for sharing it with us
Again, TAFNola seems to be spamming this costumer's videos with absurd comments. Perhaps he/she has only dealt with cheap hoops from the bridal shop, and not a real steel hoop fashioned from original patterns. Otherwise, he/she would know that the the skirt moves just the same now as it did originally because it has the correct foundations and shape.
We are talking 1862 here and Kat used the right crinoline for the dress, it DOES move this way. And before you shout no way, let me assure you (I'm a re-enactor and seamstress) it sure does with the right underwear & underskirts and crinoline. Of course it is more stiff and pouffy if you use a modern bridal dress hoop underneath but that wouldn't be authentic.
she didn't update an extant garment, if that's what you're saying. this skirt was constructed from scratch and is absolutely gorgeous, not to mention as bell-like and flow-y as it ought to be for the time period.
beautiful dress , if only females dressed like that theses days, i know its not practical for everyday wear but its so feminine

Beatiful! I would wear it everyday... wait, it's a mourning dress? Does that mean someone must die time to time so I could wear it...

This comment has received too many negative votes show
The skirt moves well but not at all the way it would orignially. I think you have updated the skirt beautifully and should work it into a ball gown.

a mourning skirt? Basicly you'd need to find the proper Civil War pattern for the skirt.
