ok because a lot of you talking about the revs of the engine,it is a silvertop and it has 160hp at 7400rpm.So from7.400 to 8.000 or 8.500 are no point revs, without power and torge.it is a manufacture engine with no upgrades,so more revs than 7400 are useless.thnx all for the coments.
@tralalilalo you make no sense... if it makes max power at 7400 that doesn't mean it makes 0hp at 7500. are you telling me that since my 4age makes max torque at 5000 rpm that from 5 to 7500 is pointless? the silvertop 4age could keep most of its power well into 8000...
@12345tou Yeah I raced a 20 valve with my bluetop (stock vs god know what he had done to it) and yeah I was 2 car lengths ahead of him up till around 120KMH (80MPH) and then he slowly started crawling on me... honestly they do put out more power but it takes a lot longer to do it.
@tralalilalo Sorry, But your dead wrong about no point in reving over 7400 rpm. 7400 rpm is where PEAK power is. it doesnt just drop straight to 0 after that. The point of changing gears is to stay IN the powerband. Unless the engine completely falls on its face or redlines almost immediately after 7400 RPM, then shifting AT 7400 RPM instead of redline(or the RPM when the engine DOES fall on its face) means the engine falls further out of the power band once you are in the new gear.
Hey Dudes i need some help, my silvertop is having an idling problem, when the engine is cold its idle is flactuating real bad, and even if i'm running at high speed my engine would die. But when my engine is warm its idling is fine as if nothing is wrong,, i already changed my spark plug, oil and still nothing happened,, need help guys
@ShopVids yeah u can argue all you want, but i race 20v levins quite often as my friends have a few, and they honestly cant keep up with thw mighty bluetop aw11. power to weight, and im only running an alternator and water pump off my engine. so it picks up ok. this guys silvertop is nufin lol
@12345tou well you must either have a lighter car, or have built your bluetop, because stock we are comparing 150hp to 115-130hp (depending on country) it's physics
wat a fuckn loser your internals will be fucked if u keep driving like that i think mabey u should own a mini or sumfink coz u dont deserve to own or drive a toyota if ur gunna do that at lest wait till it warms up cock breath
Man that is shit my 20 valve silver top revs to the 9000rpm and does 70km in first gear and it's stock it's in a ae93 gti so I think you should write 16 valve 86kw first gear
wow b4 u post make sure u know what are you talking about they are both 20v the difference is that the black top has slightly larger itbs it has higher com. ratio it makes ten more hp and its accually vvt-i instead of the regular vvt found on silver top
I didnt say I knew i said if i remember right which i wasnt so you dont need to sound like an ass just inform me that i was wrong XD and i thought the 4A-GE in the AE86 was a 4valve and i thought those were the blacktops
The 4ag in the AE86 is in fact the "Blue Top". 16-Valve. The following generation 4ag found in later model Japanese Corollas and MR2's is the slightly more powerful 16-valve "red top".
The AE101 in Japan got the 20-valve "silver top" and the AE111 got the 20-valve "black top" both are more desirable and far more powerful engines.
The ST came with a 5-spd tranny and the BT came with a 6 unfortunately they are FWD trannies that wont work in the AE86.
ya. actually i researched this and exactly found the same thing. sorry for the wrong comment. i was thingking "which was it again" i was thinking of rewriting it. well. good i found it now. hahah :P
that is not completely certain, I have a silvertop and my first one arrives peacefully to the 8000 rpm's. for sure you should have a problem with your ECU or you should not have the adapted ECU. ... greetings
i wouldnt say so, im assuming it has a C56 gearbox, therefore it will limit on 60kph. a silvertop revs up to 8200rpm if i remember correctly so the dial should really be reading 8200rpm. but ive seen many ae92's with the tacho playing up, i had a mates ae92 that showed it was revving past 9 on the dial but the engine was a complete stocker.
thats why people only put them in cars that weigh less then a tonne. they're good engines, they dont have the torque to pull some hunk of shit 2 tonne car though.
im gussing you were trying to say, " please tell me that your not using a 16v ecu, if you are then your not running the full potential of the motor." if he was running a 16v ecu the car wouldnt even start as it has different fuel maps and such, the loom would fit either way i just think its his tacho thats out, ive seen many 20v ae92's have this problem.

I had a silvertop 4age in a 1993 Toyota Trueno, and it would rev up to 8500rpm no problem. Whats wrong with this one?!

why does my 86 bluetop 16 valve 4age rev higher???
ShopVids 1 year ago
@ShopVids cos bluetops are the shit thats why
12345tou 1 year ago
@12345tou good answer haha but the bluetop was arguably the worst 4age, a silvertop should rev higher...:/ still love mine though.

something, wrong with your setup. I have a silvertop only with a cold air intake and it rev cut a 8,000rpm
whutzzzup 2 years ago
that is not a 4age 20v it rev limits at 7200 20v 4a's rev to like 9000 my 16v hits 7800 rpm and it is automatic gay

it is not possible i got my silver top 20 valve and its limiter goes at 8.5k rpm, and a stock silvertop has 160 hp @ 7.4 k rpm.

silvertop vs SR16VE with NEO VVL, or whatabout EK9 type R?>?

9000 rpm. Wow, keep up the good work wrecking your internals. Change the IC on your ECU, or change the driver.

should you be revving it to teh red line?
aznguy11111 3 years ago
aftermarket engine can rev further..and that wasnt first gear that was revving it out ???
trendkill777 2 years ago
That Redline is for 4a-fe engines. Silver Tops usually can be reved up to 7800
killua21550 2 years ago
¬¬ 4a-fe go at 6500

Yes. I know, why did you comment that? I said that, "that redline (on the tachometer) is for 4a-fe engines. Not for silvertops. What's your point? xD

jwan204 3 years ago
If i remember right the Silvetop had a 5Valve per Cylinder while the Black was 4Vavle per cylinder

Both were 20 valve engines, the blacktop is the newer of the two. Very little difference between them.
