I do not understand why she does not stop singing. Is not she ashamed of the way she sings now, if compared to his brilliant past career? Is it only a matter of money?
A great artist always knows when it is time to stop performing.
Great singers don't always know when to stop (Caballe and Cossotto are two current examples). I think performing is like a drug they can't give up - doing justice to the music falls by the wayside under such compulsion.
i don't see anything wrong in that excerpt. It's in tune, it's filled with with emotion, there is great control of the voice in which does not go in uncontrollable vibrato like in some old people... the only thing missing is volume, and an ounce of intelligence and respect from you.
Thank you very for your comment, regardless the insult.
I think the problem is not the volume, but the voice itself. Berganza had one of the finest voices ever heard in the last half century. Today, however, because of her age, she cannot control anymore her intonation and her voice lost the overtones. She still has technique and passion, but this recording just shows an old voice, nowadays flat and uninteresting.
Intelligent&respect for her past career demand her to stop singing.
Brava! Ma l'acconciatura è terribile

I think it is hardly a matter of money. She likes singing. And she is still more impressive and far better than ANY mezzo of these days.
