Is'nt this spot located a tad bit west of Poe siding?
I have always wanted to get a shot of the North Fork bridge but I was told that it is located off of some dirt road but I am not totally exactly sure where the dirt road meets up with high way 70.
It is called "Intake" by the railroad and it is just west of the Poe powerhouse. The dirt road is nothing to be concerned about, unless your car is very low to the ground. I can send you a Google Earth kmz file if that would be useful.
Also do you know how to access that big trestle/bridge in Quincy? I think it is called the "Chandler Creek trestle" or it is called the "Clio Trestle".
Beautiful shot, haven't seen this exact location very much. Too bad about the rain, but otoh, if it had been dry and/or sunny, you wouldn't have gotten anything near that huge magnificent smoke plume from 844-- which REALLY adds to this shot!! Oh yeah, WELL worth it!! Awsome video!!
Thank you. The location is not that hard to get to however it's several miles from the pavement. My theory is that the number of railfans diminishes inversely according to the square of the distance from the highway and the cube of the elevation below it.
Totally fabulous, Grover! To viewers who are wondering why the soundtrack sounds like a scratchy old 78 RPM record -- that's rainfall on the umbrellas. Nice use of the page turn and other video effects. This has to be one of the best, maybe even THE best, 844 video I have seen recently.

ok. Cool. Is this a public dirt road or is it a private dirt road for UP where they would try to pull the whole "trespassing" thing?

Why thanks - it was worth getting drowned and then kicked off by the U.P. track boss after all. Wet weather does make for some nice condensation.

Quite the supporting crew there. We would've come all the way down (was up above you) but weren't sure of parking, etc. nice! - Kent
