Didn't realise just how good this version was compared with the famous (slightly later) version by Crystal Gayle. Well sung Sandy Newman and well arranged!!
Marmalade didn't record an album entitled "Falling Apart At The Seams". Their 1977 LP was called: "The Only Light on My Horizon Now", but "Talking In Your Sleep" was not featured at all on that album and neither on their 1978 LP "Doing It All for You."The song may have simply been released as a single in 1978 to coincide with Grystal Gayle's release of it roughly around the same time, as it had been a song that had been originally recorded by Marmalade.
@ultras1uk dohhh I didn't KNOW this :( Thanks :D ..still Like Dean ! And Still like this song..nice voice Sandy Newman...still learning about this band I guess..thanks :)
Talking in your sleep should definitely have been a hit for Marmalade - their version is far superior to Crystal Gale's. The Marmalade version was before Miss Gale's so it beggars belief that it didn't make No 1. Mimikate 1 - Why would they want to use Dean's likeness behind them - he was very good but long gone. Everthing moves on. The BBC were very short sighted in not giving it air time seeing that it was performed by an English Group. Great shame - I love this song

Written by Roger Cook. First cut by Marmalade on Roger Cook & Roger Greenaway own record label TARGET RECORDS. For some unknown reason the BBC would not play this version. What a shame!

@Wigglingwench45 Sorry, this isn't Dean Ford singing lead vocals, this is Sandy Newman who replaced Dean after he went solo. Hope this helps

Wasn't the Crystal Gale version from 1978, making this version the earlier one?
newguy90 2 years ago 2
@newguy90 This is the earlier one - it's the original, written by Roger Cook and Bobby Wood.

This is the same group that sang 'I See The Rain'? Is this them?
Khultan 2 years ago
No - not even close.
i see the rain was 1967 - this is 1977, ten years later. Only the drummer and bass playerfrom the originals were on this
