You know something. I think Petit's and Jean-maire's influence on American Ballet is vastly underated and I surmise it is due to the Danny Kaye Movie Hans Christian Anderson. It was one of the few moving ballet moments of my childhood. I must have been one of many young ballet lovers whose first taste came through the movies. I mean how many waited with baited breath to see the three ballet munchkins? I did because other than a folder of phots cut from magazines it was all there was.
