  • thank for the advisory !

  • Lol Thought it was a woman with a low voice speaking at first and was surprised when the dude popped up on the screen!

  • she saw the sea horse sawing on the saw horse sawing seats for the sea see saw

  • cool video

  • ohhh so much dabate over a little rock thinngie

  • Konafishlover!!! Yeah mabey in america...

    But not in aus...

Most of the corals and live rock are taken from specially quarintined zones were wholesalers are legally allowed to take rock and ONLY if it has fallen away from the main reef...

  • lo,l two nemos. thats a good one.

  • if corals sting can you touch it with bare hands or with surtian glooves? and how long can you keep coral out of water .

  • can u use kitchen salt for saltwater fish and live rocks? anyone?

  • @starthi nooooooooo dont do that !

  • Hahaha I thought it was a woman talking at first.

  • the only secret from preventing nemo and dory to float dead ,,,,that pet shop and under money sucking companies don't tell you...... is to regularly do water change that is it,,,,,you don't have to buy those expensive filters skimmers,,bio balls fancy light and shit,,,i have a tank it runs with ordinary light,,ordinary air pump no dead fish for almost 2 years just do weekly water change half tank

  • @checkavailability175 An ordinary light set definitely will not work with corals.

  • well would that depend on what your keeping ? for fish yes you can do this ,,,, but ,, there are some corals , and anemones that are very particular and the algaes are the same ,,, sure you can grow toxia folia and mexicana but ,,, well im sure you get what im saying ,,, ill stick with whats been working for me for decades

  • @checkavailability175 ok so let me get this straight you have a salt tank running for two years and the coral and fish are fine ,,, but you dont use any salt filters or lighting ? just regular fresh water supplys ? what types of coral and fish do you have ?

  • @checkavailability175 half a tank every week....no thanks. I will buy that "shit" and save all the work

  • do you have to clean saltwater aquariums like you do to freshwater?

  • Uhh yeah and about 20 times as thoroughly lol

  • dont you just change the bulb after it goes out?

  • not really. Fluorescent begin to gradually dim. In aquariums where light is needed for proper plant growth, after about 9 months the fluorescent bulb is only producing about %50 of what it used to. Thus replacing is needed.

  • in mh's (metal halides) the things right below the light will turn black... this means they are expired and need to be replaced, mh's need to be replaced about once a year

  • i am abot to start a fish only setup with live rock any advice you can give me. it will be 400ltrs

  • i know this is probly to late but just build it as a fish only and get some of the realistic fake corals once you have afew of them it really starts to look insane i did it with my old tank my new tank is all real but haha

  • ya dont use live rock if your going fish only unless your going to use proper lighting and filtration ,,,, the rock can go bad and poison a tank if not looked after ,, there alot of life that can die on the rock ,,, i suggest a good skimmer ,,, hope this helps

  • nice vid

  • I had no idea corals ate food like that XD

I mean, i knew they were alive and compete with eachother, but thats very interesting :P

  • iwanna sea horse

  • what lighting would you recomend for a 55 gallon reef tank?

  • Lighting depends on what you want to keep. Just fish won't require much, 1-3 watts per gallon. Different corals require different lighting. Google what types of fish and corals you'll want to keep and plan ahead. That is my advice.

  • nice vid. the only think IMO that is wrong is the removing of waste from the live rock, because as it decays bacteria take it from ammonia, to nitrite, to nitrate, and unlike many filter medias live rock also contains the bacteria to convert nitrate to nitrogen gas, which is then released into the air.

  • But the conversion of this takes a fair amount of time.

By the time the waste is turned into free nitrogen, it sits for a time as ammonia (NH3). The ammonia in high enough quantities kills the coral and reduces the efficiency of the live rock significantly.

And not all NH3 is turned into free nitrogen. A very good portion of it turns into nitrate, which also kills corals. Why do you think we do water changes? Regardless of how much free nitrogen is created, having dirt on LR is always bad.

  • Does yr system includes ozonizer? or UV sterilizer?

  • Yeah, I have one... I started off small at first and killed most of the fish in a month lol... Got a real nice setup now that I know more about tanks...

  • Yeah i had my saltwater tank for a month are so and only one of my fish died.

  • lol... yeah can be costly... the instructional marine aquarium on here is real good. I saw a preview on here and worth checking out

  • where can i buy the good DVD ???

  • Coral can sting each other? lol I din't know that

  • i wouldn't, they are very hard to keep

  • Not a fan of the DVD. Is this older? A simple trick for feeding corals ( or specific corals) is to instead of shutting down your water circulation and filtration just cover the coral with a simple glad cup and slowly lift the cup up and down to recirculate uneaten foods until the coral is done feeding. You can then contain the extra food and move on to a new coral. You avoid a lot of stress this way. Also mainly corals directing feed off of light. At night it is good to catch food due to nolight

  • Turkey baster

  • Gorgeous sun coral.

  • nice advice but im wondering how to keep a buble tip anenome alive with dying?? anyone knows ?

  • make sure your water quality is stable, good lights and frequent feeding should keep you fine. also make sure you have no fish/inverts that would attack it

  • Pristine water. A lot of light and good placement.

  • not bad, keep it up
