  • Awful playing - just joking - that was great

  • Whenever i record something with mine the playback volume is really low for some reason. This sounds really good though.

  • @stubee5150 You may be recording with the Mic Gain set on low...I use HIgh. Or you may have the volume on the unit turned down.

  • @acoustisongs Thanks for your response. Yeah it happens even on the high gain setting, and the volume doesn't get low until i watch the playback on my computer. Just one more thing, did you use their editing software for this video? Thanks again and nice playing : )

  • @stubee5150 I think you can adjust the volume from the unit during playback...worth a try.

No, this was my very first video so I didn't do ANY editing.

  • this is exactly what i was curious about

thank you man :) sounds good too

  • wonderful Acoustic sound nice playing and finger style....i just bought the Zoom Q3 and as a guitarist keyboard player and a drummer look forward to getting in there and recording some of my own work.....many thanx for the Demo keep up the good work regards Eric....

  • I have the old, original Q3 which doesn;t have your settings. Sorry.

Best bet is to try each setting and see which YOU like best. Same song, same recording parameters.

  • Hey, I just got a Zoom Q3, just want to know what settings do i set my Sound Quality to? Im trying to record some grand piano

  • Very nice pièce ang guitar playing! Congrats and best wishes! Karlheinz

  • Hi. I would lIke to tell Christine to put a cappo on 2nd fret if you want to play along.

    Alan.

  • It's very good quality, both the video and the audio.

  • Just Great !

  • came here to check out the camera but hey really nice composition my friend

  • when the apple fell out of the tree. we didnt get to find out how good it tasted..

    hey

  • Oh yea do you think H2 is also better than Q3 ? I think H2 sounds more fuller and has more bass

  • Do you think H4 has better recording quality than Q3 ?

  • WOW GREAT VIDEO AND AUDIO QUALITY.....AND SOME MIGHTY FINE GUITAR PLAYIN TOO MY MAN...I JUST BOUGHT THE ALESIS VIDEO TRACK..IM HAPPY WITH THE AUDIO QUALITY BUT THE VIDEO IS NOWHERE NEAR AS GOOD,ZOOM,S PRODUCT IS IN HD...WHERE ALESIS ISNT...SHOULDVE BOUGHT THE ZOOM...

  • Sound:great

    Video : average

    You play really well!

  • Sounds great!

  • Hello, what's the model of Ovation you've got? Thanks. BTW, Great sound! I'm thinking about it, maybe I'll buy one to record some sounds.

    ++

  • @alexstrat

I am playing a 1999 Collector's Edition, but I no longer own it. Pretty git, though.

  • and u played well too:D

  • is this the sound purely from the q3??

if it is, its damn good!!!!!!

  • That sounded really good!. i kinda said heck with it and ordered a Q3 yesterday, it should get her on tuesday. can't wait to try it out

  • marvelous

  • Me again....Trying to find your other channel...acousticsongs....Can you please post a link? Thanks, Christine.

  • actually i think the video quality is great, although it's hard to tell on youtube because of the compression, i'm still on the fence about buying a Q3

  • Amazing camcorder

  • Hey, I was just wondering how well the Ovation Guitars play unplugged...? I was thinking of buying one, but I wanted an acoustic that sounded good acoustically as well as being able to be plugged in.

Thank you very much, :) Nice playing btw. xD

  • @Marhalut

Why do you think are Ovation guitars so expensive? YES! Because they sound so good..

  • Hi there..this is a beautiful version of The Water is Wide. I tried to recreate it with Open G and can't find the chords....did you "tweak" the tuning a little? I'm just learning about open tunings, so this is a challenge. Been working on it all morning...LOL. - Christine

  • @mioumiou88

Oops. Sorry Christine....I goofed. It's actually open D tuning. I plan to do an instructional demo soon on my other channel, acoustisongs

  • Beautiful version....Wish I could see your left hand for the chords.....I want to learn this.

  • Great sound ! Do you have the tab of this version of the water is wide ?

  • I could care less about the video quality like the HD nerds bitch about! but the sound quality is what's makes this unit a MUST buy!

  • @Zhorellski exactly plus i thhink the video is pretty good i'm saving up for one to make my drum covers higher quality

  • Man I'm lovin' this tune! I just ordered it

  • Wow! It sounds great, even over YouTube. What a tempting gadget.

BTW, GREAT playing and beautiful guitar.

  • this is perfect for anyone who wants to record themselves playing, or a jam session. video quality is good enough for web use.

  • Sound quality? I just turned the thing on, pointed it at me, and played. It's pretty simple. Then you hook it to your computer with the attached usb cable and download it right on to youtube. Can't get any simpler than that.

  • what sound quality did you use? I don't really know when to use mp3 or the other settings?

  • Ovation is the 1999 Collector's Edition.

  • Sounds great. Please can you tell me which Ovation model this is and the strings you use. Thanks

  • Hi,

What tuning do you use for this lovely song ? Thank's

  • best way to edit the MOV files from the Q3? any software suggestions?

  • Check out my solo's with the Q3

  • cool song !!!!!

  • what do you play ?

  • I'd be interested in hearing what settings you used for the audio level at the time of recording. My Q3 recordings don't sound as good as yours (beautiful playing by the way). I have the unit farther away thatn you do and sometimes have the guitar amplified. Maybe that's what makes the difference. Oh, and the latest dfrivers for the Q3 (came out in January) help with low light levels.

  • @lpa53 I just set it on auto and let it do the work. I sit pretty close to the zoom unit. Remember the mics are directional and should point toward the source of your sound....tough with amps. I am going to do a bunch more videos soon using a P.A. I will have the speakers pointed at the zoom unit.

  • @lpa53 mic position is the most important aspect in recording, experiment with it, the closer the better usually as long as its not too loud that it clips

  • Sounds great Dude - but are you happy with the zoom's inability to illuminate anything indoors? I'm pretty unhappy with my zoom q3, feel like getting a refund, as without burning light all around my flat and wearing light clothes so it looks like I'm in a weird cult, the zoom gives me no illumination. Even mobile phone cameras know how to adjust light - I'm amazed that zoom didn't consider this.

  • I guess for $250 I didn't expect too much. I haven't experimented yet with lighting...was happy to just get something recorded and posted. I think that a spot directed at you would be enough to solve the problem. If you look at my other recording "Something in the way she moves", I did shine a light on me and it is an improvement.

  • Thing is, in the UK they go for £200, which is over $300. So for that kind of money, and given the competition, I think they could have done much better.

  • @darkbarguitar - Which mic gain setting did you use -auto, high, or low? I really wish the gain were manually adjustable - the low setting is too low, and the high setting is to high for most acoustic settings.

  • @clarence667

just use the auto setting. Haven't tried the others.

  • you play great brotha!!!

  • Nice tune. Sounds great on the Q3.

  • nice playing

    cool review

    thank's

  • When they come out with a HD version and a Better Batt,Im sold!

  • same, and you can always get rechargable batteries and save a ton of money

  • I'm gonna buy one tomorrow. It sounds gtreat; i don't know how it works with classical guitar, but i take a chance.

  • Great playing man. Reminds me of old Windham Hill recordings.

  • Bob,

    That ZOOM is pretty sweet.

    Nice job on the 'O'!

  • This recording could be used for a promo album... Didn't know it sounded so good... One for next week to the Amazon Cart.... That and a good 15 band EQ... Nice sound man...

  • Nice playing and nice sound. I would have hoped the camera might have increased the lighting to make it easier to see, but it would depend on where your light was in relation to the camera. Thanks for taking the time to do the demo.

  • Nice sound acoustically, and picture quality is perfectly acceptable.I reckon,...if you get the lighting right,...this little 2 x mic'd marvel is well worth the asking price.( Check out the bargain bundles ),..or better still.., check 'em out in Jan 2010 ),..for an even better deal. A very impressive bit of kit,..pity the video is'nt HD,though. Well done,Zoom,..you've certainly raised the bar re sound quality.

  • Love that chord sequence and you played it perfectly. The zoom did you well! Beautiful sound!

  • Thanks, but no....that's just a version of "The Water is Wide" in open G. Most of it is own rendering, but not my song

  • That was beautiful, did you compose it yourself?
