How to install a wordpress blog (through 1&1) part 1

You don't explain where to transfer the files to on the server very clearly..do you create a news folder on the 1and1 server and drop in there or what? You seem to have a folder ready made?

That "my sql" section doesn't show up in my control center, I guess I don't have it in the contract/package that I have (the most basic one...). Is it necessary? Can I do without it?

@aderander Yes- You have to have a MySQL database et up, get it with the Dual Basic package.
