It would appear that wood is a much more renewable source than the animals provide ivory are. Making the statement that ivory can last generation a moot point, environmental impact speaking. Focusing on the longevity of ivory is an attempt to get around the fact that foremast owning ivory is a wealth status symbol. Doesn't matter if the ivory in in the form of useful items or trinkets.

There is nothing environmentally friendly in killing the last elephants in the country. If ivory indeed ivory chop sticks remained three generations without increasing demand we in Africa wouldn't catch them killing our elephants and wildlife criminals wouldn't have left Asia to come here.

China did not ban ivory. In fact next month China will ask the UN International forum of CITES to approve it as a buyer for dozens to hundreds of tonnes of ivory, maybe even from Zimbabwe

Second, as far as I know Chinese are not the only one who use chopstick.

Third, ivory chopstick actully is much environment friendly than wood chopsticks simply because they last more than 100 years and people usually take good care of them. 5 pairs for a family last whole 3 generations. Steel chopsticks are usually disposed within 10 year and they are harmful.

They don't believe in human rights. What do they care about animal right. If humans grew ivory task and walking around in China you know what will they do? Look at "organ harvesting" scandles in China. Need I say more. It's up to them to educate themself.

organ harvesting? thought it's only from death row excuted prisoners. Since there's a large number of executions in china, there's plenty of organs to go around.  It's like one of those best kept secrets - if you need a new organ you can find a short wait list in China.
