  • nóssa nóssa, que deliciA

  • steve jordan is practically standing up playing drums!

  • At the start of this video, Steve Jordan is like the mythic "John Henry"-- his arms beating those drums like pistons! God damn what shape the man must be in!!

  • if `Buddah` played the guitar...this is what he would sound like

  • half the people on here dont know shit about guitar playing.. its sad reading alot of these comments

  • @Lil80sbaby No little girl, you don't know anything about guitar playing, so hold your peace.

  • @AnthemicPolemic I have not seen a hint of guitar knowledge, other than spewing random crap and attempts to show pity, of some sort. In other words, I agree.

  • What derek is doing at the end is flipping insane

  • One of, if not the, best slide solos I've ever heard. There is a God...and he works through the fingers of great guitar players in order to communicate with the world...I hope you all are listening.

  • @LSweener012 word

  • WHAT!!!! WHAT IS THIS FROM ? THEY Need TO TOUR!!!

  • super group!!!!!!!!!!

  • Eric, Doyle, Derek, Steve Jordan... doesn't get any better than this.

  • thats a tuff ass slide solo WOW!

  • Guitar playing is not a competition and if anyone knows that, it's Trucks. There are so many guys getting the attention nowadays who don't rightfully deserve. Frusciante, Bonomassa, etc. Those guys are all one dimensional and don't compare to Trucks or guys like John Mayer and Doyle

  • SMA- sorry to disappoint you, but Bonomassa is going to be one monster guitarist soon.. he's well on his way, and Frusciante holds back a lot, fearing the "rock star" halo being tossed at him-- it's what led him to leave music and sink into drugs for like, an entire 5 years till he got clean and tried to work around those things. I wonder what you'd say about Jeff Beck, then? It's true that these guys all have differing styles and schools of thought. But I like Trucks AND Frusciante.

  • Steve Jordan, in his 40s just FLYING over those drums! Astounding how he cam keep up that momentum.

  • wow 40 really that old...

  • Sarcasm? He's actually 52 now.

  • 40's, 52 etc is not old. Man, you young folks think anyone over the age of 40 is dead or something. 80% of the people 25 and under I jam with can't keep up with me. Age means shit. In fact, the older you are, the better you are from live playing experience. I don't give a shit what anyone says. As a pro musician for over 25 years, I know what I'm talking about. The competition crap went out with Shrapnel Records too, by the way.

  • i think the first is "After Midnight" from his first solo album "Eric Clapton", and the second one it's "Little Queen Of Spades" from "Me and Mr. Johnson" a tribute to Robert Johnson. Just Amazing =)

  • what song(s) is this? oh and just a side note, guitar playing isn't a competition so why don't all of you calm down, duane allman said it best, (slightly paraphrased) "we don't keep score with this guitar playing thing"

  • -said the greatest guitar player ever

  • I think Derek Trucks is the most soulful guitarist ever. He continually amazes and moves me with his playing.

  • you should check out davy knowles. but yeah derek just seems 2 slip into another place when he takes a solo.

  • i mean in clapton's auto he says derek's guitar playing is seems to have no limit...to say derek doesn't play with soul is like saying clapton's playing isn't influenced by the blues. perhaps you haven't got it yet b/c derek doesn't show much emotion while he plays. close your eyes man so you can open them!!!

  • whoever said trucks was "soulless" probably never saw him live. saw him with clapton on the 2007 tour and could not believe what was comin through those fingers of his. truly an amazing live experience i would see again in a heartbeat

  • Frogboy, you wouldn't know what "soul" was if it bit you on the leg.

  • when and where did he ever say that?

  • Comment removed

  • Both great players, but Derek still has some work to do before he can truly match up to that fiery Clapton soloing.

  • I remember an interview (I believe it was Guitar World) where Eric Clapton was asked how it felt to be the greatest guitarist in the world. Clapton pulled out his cell phone, called Trey Anastasio and said "I don't know, ask him."

  • internet rumor. i would like to actually hear that interview...

  • Probably not even that. More like there's a Troll here looking for attention.

They run in different circles, mate. Even Derek, named after the Dominos album name didn't meet Clapton till 2007 His wife had played with Doyle Bramhall II who turned EC on to Derek's band's albums- EC just wanted him for some session slide work, but upon meeting him found they clicked & invited Trucks' band to open at Crossroads 2007 with Derek remaining in his band also to tour the world with him. Souless? LMAO

  • Either way a guitarist in his right mind would be as pityful to say they were the best Clapton never claims himself as the best but yet if he said Derek for example was and u asked derek, Derek might say back Eric was.. they have respect for each other, its not a competition.

  • "Derek still has some work to do"? you are insane. Derek doesn't need to match up to anyone. call Clapton god all you want, but no one on this planet has tone or phrasing like Trucks.

  • soulless? Trucks? thanks for the laugh.

keep telling yourself that. just make sure you don't walk up to Clapton and say that, because he'd probably laugh in your face.

  • ur kidding right?

  • thats weird because I was just saying how Trucks had the most soul out of any soloist I had ever head

  • You haven't opened up enough to hear him then.

  • totally agreed! Trucks is the greatest (living) guitarist

  • Just another reason to respect Steve Jordan's drumming talents too!! Damn, that's a helluva workout.

  • Im a hugh Clapton fan ....but im afraid ,,,,Derrick is the new man...his phrasing and dynymics are fuckin scary,,,,he makes clapton look ...AVERAGE

  • Is this with Willy Weeks on the bass?

  • Yes! It's Willy playing bass!

  • Jeez, I try my best not to be a total guitar-nerd, but that phrasing after 4'55 is phenomenal, gives me goose-flesh every time

  • omg derek is sick on this !

  • yoo do u have footage from he rest of that song? i NEED to hear the rest of dereks solo, that shit is incredible

  • Check Derek's website in the Wikipedia, there's a link right there saying music, free.

  • This should have just been called THE Super Group! What an amazing amount of talent on one stage.

  • holy f***in shit

  • This is nuts

  • i cant watch this video

im on cam and bored 2D

  • no one makes it look easier than clapton, but derek is my main man

  • Lol, are Steve's drums even mic'd? He's fighting to be heard even during the slow blues shuffle

  • i was there too. insane Steve Jordan plays sooo deep and smooth in that pocket. I was freshly trippin out for the whole concert. Steve was so loud i could feel the bass drum in my chest and legs and the snare in my head and jaw. It was fuckin nuts. i was fully deaf for a day after

  • My uncle, my step dad, and myself went to this and are all sure that steve jordon had 20 cups of coffee before this, because if you guys think he was going crazy during this you should've seen Motherless Children, =D he was going crazy awesome! =D

  • steve jordan

  • i was at this concert!!! =D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

omgosh it all comes back now! thankyou so much for posting

  • mmmm..after midnight!

  • Steve Jordan...wow!!! Gotta love his kit! [side note:J.J. Johnson is John Mayer's drummer]It's so easy to get confused because Steve Jordan also played with John Mayer and produced Continum. I believe Steve Jordan replaced Steve Ferrone- now playing with Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers). Nevertheless, this is an awesoem vid...happy drumming...Peace!!!

  • It's definitely Steve Jordan on drums. I saw them in Toronto at the start of this tour. Unbelievable show, riveting musicianship.

  • Steve Jordan produced, and played in Crays 'Take Your Shoes Off'

  • thats steve man

  • dude take a look again...

  • i can develop insane stamina in these kind of things.

    it is:

    (tataaaaa)

    mr. jj johnson on drums!

  • actually that is Steve Jordan...

  • Then what's JJ JOhnson doing playing on Steve's custom yamaha drums?

  • steve jordan or j. j. johnson

  • it is steve jordan. cool performance, awful video.

  • thats ot even jordan on drums. its a guy called johnson,

  • Has anyone seen a proshot video of this song with Clapton and Trucks? I would love to have it (and host it for that matter).

  • Crossroads 2007

  • Maybe, not positive though

  • ok from right to left ec, steve jordan, derek. i guess it could be derek and the dominoes afterall. go figure.

  • I just orgasmed once I heard Derek's Guitar wailing. Pure genius.

  • this concert was awesome but the techies really fucked up doyles tone

  • I thought Doyle sounded excellent, and immediately after the concert I told someone I enjoyed Doyle's playing more than Derek's. Nobody touches Eric though.

  • in minneapolis right?

  • Yeah, St. Paul.

  • Its only Derek and Clapton up there..

  • You can catch a glimpse of Doyle around 1:04.

  • Oh Oh Oh.

  • oh my gosh i was at this concert. INSANE!!!!! Clapton and Derek Trucks my 2 favorite guitarists of all time it was great. They kinda showed Doyle Bramhall II. The acoustic section was crazy.

  • what dvd is this off of? I need to get it!

  • Hey bro. This is not on any DVD. I hope they release this next year!! Check out the crossroads DVD that arrives in stores November 20. Derek Trucks and Eric Clapton are on it!

  • where the fuck is steve jordan?

  • He is playing drums.

  • my fault. i was looking for vids of steve jordan the accordion player. :/

  • 1:14 you can see him

  • u guys hung up on which guitarist is best miss the point here, both are dynamite but the drummer is the one that really stands out in this video! Derek often plays with 3 drummers in the ABB, but they've got nothing on Steve Jordan here.

  • Totally agree leffers2d, Steve was amazing. He has unlimited energy!! I hope they release this tour on DVD.

  • good point...i always under-estimate the power of percussion...derek always has a strong rhythm section behind him and i think thats a big part of what helps him or anyone else shine as a guitarist. steve jordan=larger than life

  • @theatlantisrise

change pusher: the stuff you're fixing yourself with seriously affects your hearing and understanding ;)

  • Music isn't a competition.

    Guitar playing isn't a competition.

If you think this than you're missing the point.

    They're both unbelievable players!

  • i agree they are both untouchable!! i saw derek trucks band live and can easily say that it is the best concert i have ever seen...but i have many more concerts to go see so...we'll seee :)

  • and clapton gets dddeeeesssstttrrrroooooyyyyeeeeddddddd

  • why is it all about someone being better? clapton will never get destroyed no matter who it is so saying something like that is just stupid, even though i like derek much better and especially in this video. its not like theyre on different "teams."

  • im not saying that derek is better than clapton, im just saying that in this video, derek's solo blew clapton out of the water musically.

  • Definitely not a competition, they both play like gods, Eric's just more straight ahead and Derek has more of a spooky, ethereal sound. It is nice to see Eric on the stage with someone he can't outplay, and I haven't seen Derek with someone he can't outplay since I saw him across from Jimmy Herring with ARU.

  • god damn look at steve jordan going insane on the drums

  • Derek Trucks + Eric Clapton = TRULY AMAZING!!!!

  • You take my breath away. my GOD Zen and the art of strings Gail53

  • my god.

  • I saw the Toronto show in Sept. 2006, off this same tour. Unbelievable musicianship, Derek Trucks blew me away! Slowhand was amazing as well!!

  • Derek Trucks and his slide. Unbelievable.

  • i think that final solo Clapton played before he ended the song just about showed Derek who's boss. They sound fantastic together

  • "i think that final solo Clapton played before he ended the song just about showed Derek who's boss. They sound fantastic together"

    I second that!!!

  • derek is unbelievable...clapton was struggling to keep up

  • Clapton sounds like any other blues player. Trucks, on the other hand, sounds like no one else in the world.

  • Thats because every other blues player copied Clapton. I do agree Trucks is a breath of fresh air.

  • what crap blues players are notorius for using a limited pallet of notes but each has there own way of phrasing, gimmicks, vibrato/bending technique etc, clapton sounds nothing like the eratic capo playing of collins, the minamalistic humingbird playin of bb king, the heavier ballad playing of green, or the very bendy buddy guy, so next time so try and say the'god' of british blues guitar sounds like any other guitarist think it through

  • Eric and Derek -- rock and rock, rock and roll!! Derek Trucks is jammin' and Eric is better than ever. What a rockin' team! They should play together more often. Whoa!

  • Yes!! The show was amazing!! That combo is lethal! Derek and Eric soloing together on the same stage! I hope to see that again!!!

  • You were really lucky to see that show - thanks for posting the video so the rest of us could see it. I've been a Clapton fan since way back and I don't think I've seen footage of him playing with quite this intensity and speed in a long time.

  • You are welcome brother! This was the 4th time I saw Eric Clapton. Minneapolis, MN (1992)- Fargo, ND (2001)- St.Paul, MN (2004) and this show St.Paul, MN (2006) - - - this was the best show of all! This was the first date of the 2006/2007 U.S tour. They were so full of energy!!

  • i know induct thee, Derek Trucks, Serpent of Slide, into the realm of Guitar Gods.

  • wow that was absolutely sick derek trucks and clapton that was amazing

  • Derek is the man...enough said.

  • When is E.C. going to let Jimmy Bowskill play in his band? In my opinion he would be a great addition to this monster blues machine.

  • amazing, i saw this show in september in minnesota but i do have to say it wasnt worth its money, they played for like an hour, so its was like a dollar per minute of music, but its Clapton so fuck it!

  • That short solo by Derek Trucks is now one of my favousrite solos. Long live EC and DT!

  • This is Absolutely SICK. Saw clapton in september in toronto. Fantastic show

  • I heard Eric on the radio home from work one day saying he lost some of his skills over the years, then I watched this and a couple other recent videos and I was just thinking no way

  • this is a clapton tour.. warren was playing with them on this tour.

  • Amen, BluesMike23....you've studied your bible well. Nobody on earth; not Hendrix, not Ray, not NOBODY will ever touch Eric's ability to rip out your fucking insides with his playing....

  • wow! This is cool stuff!

  • i love warren haynes...he is one awesome player

  • too bad warren isnt in this video....? its eric clapton, derek trucks, and doyle bramhall II... get your guys right...this vid is awesome by the way!

  • This is some of EC's more inspired playing. Derek definitely pushed him, but so did Doyle--who's a scary bad motherf***er himself.

  • That ratty tone does sound pretty nasty and mean...gotta admit.

  • CLapton= GOD

    Hendrix= Adam

    Stevie Ray= F***ing JEsus

  • I think that's the right bible man LOL

    --->

  • THAT'S JUST FUCK*NG RAW

So much energy, thx Derek to push Clapton

  • thanx 4 this !! regards bluespower!!!

  • you would think eric clapton would be a lot better considering he has been playing for like 67 years

  • there are only 3 people i can listen to playing slide...johnny winter, duane allman and derek trucks...other than that...i'm not a big fan of slide guitar

  • What about Warren Haynes???

  • Derek Trucks is a great guitarist...he's his own man not Duane or Eric...

  • imagin how derek feels, he gets to play with like everyone!

  • Thats no after midnight solo, the song's called Little Queen of Spades... no doubt bout it, Trucks is great, a virtuoso, but Clapton... well, he's God

  • The first part is After Midnight, then it blends into Little Queen of Spades. I took the footage and did the edit that way.

  • catch an Allman Brother Band concert this summer (or right now in NYC) and you'll see what makes life so great.

  • Man you are right. Went to an '06 summer tour concert, man. It was a lot to chew on. And I'm very lucky that I got to see such an amazing band, considering I'm 14 and not to many good bands are around.

  • sorry, but to me it seems that Derek Trucks is oudoing the "master".

  • Man, this is the first time i've seen this, Awesome, Amazing, i'm still in awe..

  • Wow, I really should play slide more

  • I too caught the San Diego show. I can't imagine ever seeing a better concert.

  • omg same here haha zakkwylde333

at the pond right? (or honda center if you want to)

they didn't play after midnight though. shame. but great show nonetheless

  • just saw them in Anehiem last night, it was badass!!!

  • Just saw this show in San Diego. It was outstanding.

  • That's fucking Awesome

    LOt of Energy

  • if you havent yet, i really recommend going to a clapton world tour show to see trucks and bramhall too. just awesome.

  • Amen to that.

  • Nice to see Clapton playing with someone that pushes him to be better for once.

  • I was there, and Derek is the new God of Guitar. If any one has audio from this show, please fucking

Email me, I'll trade what ever you want. They started that tour with a BANG!

  • I saw this show twice in Raliegh and Jacksonville and I now have tickets to see them in Detroit. I too hope they release this on DVD. Trucks is very impressive and Clapton is Clapton! Enough said.

  • My hat's off to trucks.

  • puuting that fucking side down trucks! you way over use it.

  • are you stupid? thats the style he plays dumbass, slide... why do you even talk if youre gonna post such stupid shit

  • uhm, he plays "slide guitar", mate!

  • Hes awsome, you know it, so fuck off and get a brain

  • wow your an idiot, clapton and trucks are both amazing, just try not talking for awhile maybe people won't think your a dumbass as often

  • d trucks puts clapton to shame... should repost this video and cut out slowhands parts to get straight to the good stuff

  • Clapton is the master, Trucks is the student

  • u could hear the beaty of the slide.

  • Dear god I hope they release a Dvd, saw the show in boston, and it was the best display of guitar playing I have ever seen

  • ment to say Clapton (D Turcks, Robert Cray & Doyle Bramhall)

  • I saw Clapton (Trucks, Trey etal) in St Louis this round I am not sure it can get any getter than those 4 on stage [picking. Thanks for the clip

  • what's the DVD's name, i would like buy it.Clapton is GOD

  • wow!!

  • Awesome playing! Derek really let up Eric's recently uninspiring licks! Kudos to both rockin dudes!

  • its alright man. thanks for this video. this is definitely one of the best from this tour that ive seen.

  • freaking incredible. i saw them on this tour. sooooo good. any idea where this is? i definitely agree with the person who said it cut off at a terrible point. still incredible

  • Hello fellow Derek Trucks fans! Sorry about the cut point, I ran out of memory! This was taken at Eric Clapton's first U.S stop of his tour-Excel Energy Center in St.Paul, Minnesota-September 16, 2006.

  • What the fuck?! Where's the rest? You cut it off EXACTLY at the worst point to do so. Darn. Awesome though.

  • amazing
