  • BUY

  • SOLD

  • what do you mean" no you no whos"

  • Sutton looked good then no assholes

Clean no you no who's clogging up the county look at it now

  • AH I REMEBER 1 THE 70S SUTTON I GREW UP THERE NOW I NEED A PASSPORT

  • Used to go to Croydon on these, they had terrific acceleration and quiet, comfortable ride.

  • The Grapes? That shit holes been open over 60 years???

  • @taroninda Whole of Sutton is a shit-hole, just another suburb of Warsaw!

  • @jamestheengine WAS NOT LIKE THAT TILL THOSE LONDONERS CAME?

  • enjoyed that alot, wow sutton has changed alot

  • And not for the better either

  • too bloody true there .

  • Why on earth did they ever get rid of these trolleybuses and the trams. Very shortsighted of those in charge of us. Economics no doubt but we desperately need this sort of system back now.

  • 3rd March 1959, also a Tuesday, was the last day. Together with the two isolated routes operating from Bexleyheath Depot it was stage 1 of London Transport's 14 stage Trolleybus replacent programme, completed in 3 years 2 months and 5 days. All but a memory after 8 May 1962.

  • Haha cool! Weird! Sutton is boring though, only bowling and an expensive cinema. Chavs usualy go to the bowling alley so im stuck xD

  • People were very tall and thin in those days! Luckily the buses were very tall and narrow too.

  • haha it went wrong since all the chavs moved in!

  • Interesting to see this. Incredible how things have changed, everyone looked so well dressed and so civilised when getting on the bus ! Comparing Sutton then and now is like looking at a completely different country. Such a shame how it has gone down the toilet - where did it all go wrong ?

  • Thanks I loved this. Back in the 50s we lived in the road that backed onto the Trolly Bus Station. This brought back loads of memories.

  • What was filming on 16mm?

  • Where did this footage come from, can you get it on DVD or somethi9ng? PLEASE REPLY

  • It's on London Trolleybuses part 1 from online video. Maech 3rd 2009 will be the 50th aniversery of the closure. It took 3 years, 2 months and 5 days for the entire system to be converted to motorbuses. Planned with military presicion, nothing could stop it. There was plenty of work for London Transport's publicity dept. Anyone know what it was?.

  • Do yourself a favour and buy both volumes of this On-Line Video production, 'London Trolleybuses pt 1 and pt 2'; they're available on DVD, too.

    I edited the whole thing.

    RR

  • nice

  • Thanks for a briilant trip down memory lane.

Nice to see the traffic moving in Sutton pre road humps, bumps and other traffic calming measures !

  • lol 02:39 greenshaw high school (grennel road) on the left

  • It can't be - this footage comes from the

1950s - Greenshaw is a bit over 30 years old. It opened around 1971.

  • Wow. Sutton High St without the Burger King, a different world entirely and one that looks like it had a better transport network as well.

  • ...and without an Asda car park your car probably wouldnt get stolen either! woohoo!

  • Amazing vintage footage of yesterday Sutton. This is the first time I have seen a double decker trolley bus ! A lot of roads nowaday become one way streets.

  • that is amazing! i take it that route was simular to what is now the 154.. so hard to reconise sutton now it is a one way system.. amazing to see cars going down the high street lol
