This is my opinion on atheism as a religion First off, I would concede that it is a belief - but then I'd argue that everything we "know" is only what we believe, so that doesn't really change anything. Secondly, I would say it is different from major religions because of the way our belief come about. Your beliefs come from God right? So if you can find evidence to prove that, great. Our beliefs come from the evidence, which we collect before we decide what to believe. That is how we differ
@Squiffy633 Hey Squiffy, I appreciate your comments on my profile page. That's all I'm about. Presenting my side of the debate. My harder edge on the videos is for those stubborn atheists (most of whom curse at me).
@emptywithoutjesus Its good so see some decent argument out there, I enjoy debating, and YouTube is an excellent forum for it. It's a shame that there can be so much hate, it really detracts from otherwise good stuff going on. But don't worry about them and keep making videos!
There are a couple of important points that you don't appear to grasp. Firstly atheism is independent of evolution. One deals with population mechanics, the other a belief in the existence of god. Secondly, regarding your assertion that macro evolution never happens, there's an elephant in the room that you're ignoring: the theory of evolution is completely falsifiable.
Atheism is not a 'religion' - you really need to start looking outside the labels and cults that population controlling religions have been doing for thousands and thousands of years...
@togalogs It is a religion in the sense that it adheres to a set of beliefs. Why all the atheist web sites, books, radio shows defending atheism and attacking Christianity???
Just go away if you're an atheist. Why defend anything if you believe we all go away in the end.
Atheism is neither a religion or even a positive claim. It's simply a lack of belief in the claims of religion and or god. The burden of proof is on you. show us your evidence of a magical sky being - and not just ANY sky being, YOUR sky being.
Ray Comfort is a sleaze bag liar and you gain no credibility quoting from him. Your videos are vapid, ego stroking exercises of incredulity.
@lowcomedy If you truly believe that, let me ask you a question. How many atheists are scientists who fully understand the true science of 1: the big bang theory, 2: evolution/biology? I'm not sure, but I would venture to say at least less than half. Yet, without "evidence", they are atheists none the less. Why, if atheism requires evidence and science, are most atheists not scientists themselves?
@critter505 because the belief in a deity requires both a blind faith and the absence of any critical mind, and some people are clever enough not to surrender their brains to a bronze-age horseshit, even without being quantum astrobiologists. These people are the reason why I personally believe that humanity is not doomed (yet).
@ungarsdu38 soooooo, they are clever because they believe the word of a man over the written word of God? Pretty sure that doesn't even come close to answering my question. See, you are under the delusion that civility will be the saving graces of humanity, but if you truly were an atheist you'd have to agree that humans are animals, hence are not truly civil. And, by saying that those who believe in a deity lack critical thought, you've negated any critical reasoning you might have otherwise...
@critter505 the word of which god? Shiva-Brahma-Vishnu? Yahweh? Wotan? Zeus? Baal? Ra? Allah? Molock? Quetzalcoatl? An? Mother Nature? Aramazd? Prehistoric Venuses? The Holy Fairies in my pants? Papa Smurf? yeah right. And I do agree that human are animals, hence certainly not spontaneously civil. They are self-educated though to avoid killing each other (most of the time) hence maintaining a sort-of civilised and ordered society, in which we happily live. How the rapture's going btw?
@ungarsdu38 Paul, Steve, Chris, Martin, Helen. Maybe these are even sillier names to base you entire faith or lack thereof on. "Holy nerds in my pants!" BTW, the Bible says no man, not the angels in Heaven, not even the Son of God knows the day or hour in which he returns, so sorry, but that didn't really shake my faith because some old guy thought he could predict the rapture date. But, I'll tell you on thing, the rapture won't be going so well for you when it comes.....And it will.
@critter505 LOL yeah, christians have predicted doom's day for over 9000 years at least. Still waiting... Guess what, it won't happen :( Not during your lifespan, not during your grandchild lifespan, not even during your grandgrand(...)grandgrand-child lifespan (he'll probably pray another deity anyway and won't even be bothered), not ever. The ugly truth is that christian apocalypse is as delusional as any other religion's. But hey, who cares? Be repentful for your sins, and let me enjoy mine!
@ungarsdu38 Try it like this""Atheists, and all types have tried to predict the end of the world through alarm-ism, like global warming, etc...still waiting, guess what, it won't happen. (Not in your lifespan, not in your grand children's lifespan, not even in your great, great grand child's life either)." The beautiful truth is God is very real, and you wouldn't know, because you never tried to meet him. But, hey, who cares.....actually, billions do. Be damned by your sins, let me be saved...
@critter505 global warming is not a doom's day prediction. And is totally unrelated to religion... Take it as a projection of a shift in the chemical composition of the atmosphere. The shift is very real, as it is observable/measurable. The "global warming" is more controversial as it is a hypothesis but still a very probable one. You NEVER actually 'met' your god but 'felt' it. God is not observable, it is emotional. As such, it has no reality beyond your brains. That's why it is a delusion.
@ungarsdu38 Yes, global warming is just as much a dooms day prediction, because most true scientists do not believe it to be scientific fact. But, that really wasn't the point, the point is something as secular as global warming could be made to sound as ridiculously inferred upon as you did with the rapture. It's all in the wording. And, yes I have met my God, in a way someone like you couldn't begin to imagine, and no I am not crazy. God IS observable, and very tangible. It's just too bad....
@critter505 ok, "global warming" is not a doom's day prediction because it won't "happen" like your rapture. And it's as "secular" as DNA or, say, copper. Still, no, god is not tangible, not real (you know, like stuff).it only exists in the bible and the brains of some billion delusional people of this planet. it used to be a valid hypothesis though, when the world was an utter mystery (like in the bronze age, if that rings a bell). it is now a bit outdated. You are not crazy, you are delusional.
@ungarsdu38 ...you wouldn't know him if he smacked you in the face. I know, you think because you bought into the whole "I'm an atheist, and because of that I'm smarter than anyone who believes in God", BS. But, I'm sorry you are not as smart as you give yourself credit for. Heck, nobody on this planet is for that matter. Science is the pursuit of knowledge, not the anti-equation to religion. It's too bad you have forgotten that.
just because some one believes in evolution it does NOT make them atheist. I know muslims, christians and a jew that all believe in evolution. Just because almost all atheist believe in evolution does not make the two synonymous.
Atheism is not in any way a faith; you are simply wrong in most of your assertions about atheism. There is definitely evidence for evolution- what are fossils then?
"Ray Comfort has got a lot of good interesting things" LMFAO Ray comfort is one of the biggest idiots alive. Have you seen his banana speech? Have you also seen what wild bananas look like? Bananas look the way they are today due to selective breeding from farmers (kind of like an enforced evolution). What do you say to that?
You are a liar. Evolution is a fact. You are actually upside down in your thinking. You are exactly wrong. There is no, none, no evidence for any "intelligent design." You are sad.
Kudos to you for enabling comments, most of those taking your position disable comment. I'm afraid that you are probably in for an awful lot of negative responses bottled up in those who, like me, disagree with you and don't normally get the opportunity to respond.
Of course their angry, you intentionally misrepresent their position after being told time and time again what that position is. This is a clear case of willful ignorance. Atheism is not a religion is the same way the not collecting stamps is a hobby. It is the absents of belief in a deity. Its the same as saying you are a non-Islamic, does that mean you have a religion in the non belief of Allah? No. There is no dogma in your non-belief, you simply don't
"No proof of evolution" - you lost me right there. Yes there is. At least ten shitloads of it. I don't understand how "a minor change within a species", after enough time, can't become a major change, either. Is there some mechanism that stops too much change occurring? What is it?
If you don't think that the above is debunkery, you'd be right, to be honest. But you should watch the whole Potholer54Debunks channel. And possibly CDK07. There you'll find some thorough and inarguable debunking.
Cont....Do you realize that defensively and aggressively challenging atheism only serves to further weaken the credibility and integrity of your belief system??
You are using the words of "Ray Comfort" to support your point? My friend....you are a deluded fool. LOL..and why make these videos, anyhow? If you are right and your god exists and your faith in this God is as solid as you claim, then what are you afraid of? There is a huge differnce between sharing your faith and defending it. Besides, you have the almighty creator of the universe on your side. You should have nothing to fear, yet the incredulity of a tiny minority clearly terrifies you
typical video from a so called christian, atheism is not a religon or tied to evolution, its a simple disbelief of a god or diety, i dont know why you guys keep trying to tie them together.
@emptywithoutjesus So you think it’s unfair to dismiss the discredited views of creationist scientists just because they are few in number? In that case, why is the fact that atheists make up 1.6% of the population a valid reason to dismiss atheism, as you argue in “Sad News for Atheists?”
Yes if you do not follow the scientific method you can't be a scientist. You can always be a pseudo scientist just like astrologist and people reading palms. The reason for this distinction is because pseudo science at its best contributes NOTHING to the knowledge of human kind at worst it retards its followers into taking actions which will negatively impact their lives as well as people in contact with them.
If you want to question evolution you must first understand the theory. You don't.
i would like to quote you. "If you are so secure in your beliefs, then let it go". when you make these videos, you should think apon those words. i am going to respect that you have your beliefs if your respect that i have mine. ( though to make clear, i am not an atheist, but an agnostic). defend your religion, but do not condemn others for what they choose to believe. for in actuality no one knows the truth.
You know what is so terribly funny about this "atheism is a religion" crap ?
That it -betrays- theists.
Why make a show of trying to convert atheism in a religion through a base of repetition ? Perhaps because you can recognize that religion is NOT built on evidence, and you wish your opponents position to be at least as contradictory and baseless as yours.
And lets not get started on the Atheism=evolution, ffs.
Really, is it SO difficult to understand other people may not think just like you?
OK... ATHEISTS believing a fairy tale? Hahahaha! That gave me a chuckle!
And why must religious people always state that "atheism is a religion too"? If you look up the word you will soon discover that absence of blind faith does not equal denial of possible god(s). When are you people going to understand this?
Where does the evidence lead? I'm not a student of science so I am genuinely asking you where does the evidence lead? What is it that your implying? I know that you are not implying that because macro evolution isn't possible ( something i wouldn't know about because I'm no scientist) that religion is true? So just curious, sorry for the wordy question, Where does the evidence lead or what where you implying by this comment?
@TheWillIamLee87 I think it was Dawkins that was quoted as saying that even if something appears to be designed, reject that thought because it wasn't. Anthony Flew has become agnostic because of the evidence (see my video).
Atheism - Lack of belief in a deity/supernatural entity
I so wish that I could sit down with you, emptywithoutjesus....and introduce you to science. Obviously, someone quoting Ray Comfort would have less than the scantest knowledge of just how much evidence evolution has behind it. Not that evidence can change the stubborn faith of those who see certainty as a door prize.
Dawkins doesn't think creationists necessary wicked - he thinks they are stupid. And you are a dickhead - I hate it when people tell me I "believe" in something, just because I think it's true. I am perfectly ready to change my opinions based on evidence. Also I don't hold my opinions based on "belief" - the strongest ones I hold based on evidence - most appropriately on scientific evidence.
If doesn't take faith to see the homology of house-keeping genes and their evolutionary relationships. If evolution is false, then why does literally every eukaryote, from single celled to us, respond to nutrient excess and starvation in analogous ways? Why are the signalling pathways and proteins involved almost identical? Please explain this awfully big coincidence to me.
@emptywithoutjesus Something coming from nothing... isn't that what YOU believe? Now then, you do realize that the origin of life has nothing to do with the theory of evolution right? That's called abiogenesis; it's not yet a theory. It is usually a good idea to know something about the subject you're talking about before trying to argue against it. It's quite hilarious how you entirely avoided my question and dusted off some tired old straw man arguments.
@YurNotSpecial Know all about it. I like to go to the very first things first and that's why I mention the origin of the Universe. I get the same reply that you gave, tou know, people putting me down and side stepping the obvious. I understand, it's intellectual suicide tho think nothing created everything.
@emptywithoutjesus Either you didn't know and you're doing damage control or you did and you're being intellectually dishonest. Either option is just as bad as the other. And thanks for the straw man again. I make no claims about the origin of the universe nor do I have an interest in it. I readily admit my ignorance, and am rightfully critical of those who claim knowledge.
@emptywithoutjesus " you believe nothing created everything." Nope, thats something only the ignorance of creationism could come with, science actually says the opposite of that. See: conservation of/matter/energy. Its you that thinks everything was created from nothing via god.
Oh, yeah, he literally took nothing, and made something out of it.
Oh wait, that's from the Bible! That's right, where god takes nothing, and proceeds to make something from that nothing. Whereas we have evidence leading back to a singularity that we're currently working towards explaining right now, instead of sitting on our hands praying to the voices in our heads.
emptywithoutjesus: You generalize about atheists often. I'm not a science-based atheist. I'm not an Evolutionist or a Big-Banger. Abortion is appauling to me. I am your neighbor, so to speak. I was an atheist before the new atheist movement. They seem very angry and anti-theist. They are worthy to be leaders of such a diverse nation of atheists. Most people I love are Christians. Peace, we have more in common then might appear.
@matthewtaylorbrown Thanks for your response. Gone are the days of the true atheists such as your self. Not to sound like an old timer but over 100 years ago the debates were less hostile. Many are angry at God and thus try to destroy Him in their arguments. I have a very good (recent) article written by an atheist with this view. I think you would enjoy it. I will try to remember to bring it to work so I can send you the web site address.
@emptywithoutjesus No, what's amazing is that you are closing in on 120 videos, while I have less than 10, but you are amazed at how much free time I have.
Why do atheists care about religion? watch?v=w4fQA9mt-Mg watch?v=45_8FRtDCeQ watch?v=xwBqGpQ1RDU watch?v=Y6CLNtl4ow0 watch?v=mKKKgua7wQk watch?v=HdGOOVqaVE0 Because all religions are dangerous. watch?v=UnC7Nwqw5Dg watch?v=iQG2FITHvdg watch?v=f15PNrk94kg
Science requires evidence to support statements, faith does not.
Evolution stands on top of a mountain of evidence: Comparative anatomy, biochemistry, fossil distribution (both geographically and by layer), radiometric dating, genetics, embryology, even paleoclimatological records match temp and CO2 to the fossil record's great extinctions. The summation of evidence from several different fields of science supports evolution stronger than most other theories.
Poor silly, uneducated man....ray comfort?? as your source ???.....poor poor pathetic being,,,,unable to think for himself and educate himself....I watch these people and think that incarnation might not be so crazy after all,,,,I mean I am stareing at a " talking sheep" baaaahhh baaahhh sad so sad.....scary to think that they have offsprings,,they should be pissed at their god for cheating them out of brains !!!! sad sad sad tsk tsk tsk tsk !!!!
Most Christians are evolutionists and most evolutionists are Christians. Faith is believing something without or in spite of evidence. The theory of evolution is one of the most established theories in all of science, and if you don't think so you shouldn't ever be allowed to take vaccines or antibiotics. As neither would be possible without an evolutionary understanding.
AronRa does an awesome job of explaining the many fallacies and errors in this video, in his 5th Foundational Falsehood of Creationism video. Take a look.
I didn't finish watching, because you failed in the very beginning. There IS proof for evolution. There is NO proof for the existence of an omnipotent being. You claiming there is no proof for evolution is like a child holding his eyes shut, thinking nobody else can see him. Kindly search for videos by, let's say AronRa. He's provided the creationist community with proof over and over again, no matter how much you prefer to look away.
@FelidaTheGeek There is tons of evidence for God. the evidence for evolution can't truly get started because you can't explain how the unintelligent matter got here n the first place! Please repent of your sins and trust Christ.
You're wrong, it's as simple as that. We could continue playing this game of me stating there is no proof for god and you repeating that there is, but it's useless. You can't provide me with proof, whereas I told you where you can find proof for exactly what you asked for. You didn't go look, your own fault. Besides, I don't sin, so nothing to repent. I simply don't trust any imaginary friends, since they tend to be a sign of schizophrenia.
@FelidaTheGeek I maginary friends don't respond when you talk to them. Jesus does. Jesus rose from the dead. It is a fact. Follow the evidence and be saved.
Your imaginary friend doesn't talk to me, because he doesn't exist. Which evidence of your schizophrenia do you want me to follow? You still fail to show me your "proof".
@emptywithoutjesus again you make the same mistake, evolution and abiogenesis are not the same thing. Time and time again creationists use this erroneous claim. Now I'm not sure how long you've been doing this but when your hero Ray (who has been debating this for years) does it again and again it really makes you think: is he just so darn stupid that he still doesn't understand this? or Does he knowingly use this lie to further his cause. Not in your camp but I enjoyed your video. Peace.
@lolmos I know. I believe they are meant to be spoken of together because you can't have one without the other. I like to get the atheists thoughts on that while I'm already discussing things "way back when". Got it? BTW, Ray is not my hero. He is dealing with the same subject matter as I am and so it's easy to use the information he has.
@emptywithoutjesus You cant have one without the other? It seems so much of what you say isnt given much thought. Are you not aware that there are more christians who accept evolution than there are atheists in total? When you address atheists on matters of evolution you are actually targeting the minority of "evolutionists". The evolutionary biologist Ken Miller is a catholic. He is the one who found the irrefutable proof of the genetic link from apes to humans. Info here
@tallifer1 DNA simply doesnt lie. So why is it you dont address christian "evolutionists"? Are they somehow right where atheists are wrong? Why is it you keep saying evolution/big bang is false when you clearly dont understand them? If my lack of belief in yahweh is a religion, then your lack of belief in krishna is just one of the thousands of religions you have. If evolution is a religion, so is geology and physics, they have leaders too so obviously they are also religions.
@tallifer1 you hilariously ask atheists "if youre so secure in your beliefs whats the big deal?" The big deal is your dont have even a basic understanding of the scientific ideas you claim are fairy tales. Im comfortable that 2+2=4 but if someone keeps insisting 2+2=5, and that 2+2=4 is just a fairy tale then I would also make a big deal out of that. To further correct your arguments from ignorance, note that Darwin wasnt the founder of the evolution theory.
@tallifer1 It had been a theory years before, what was lacking was the method of evolution, Darwin discovered the method was natural selection. Those who actually know about evolution and biology can tell you there is no such distinction between micro and macro evolution, its like saying you can walk to the end of the street but not to the edge of town. You also seem to not understand debunking. If you say china doenst exist and someone shows china does its debunked, theres no opinion involved
Why are all the indigenous mammals in Australia marsupials and monotremes? How do you make sense of this outside of evolution? But that is not why I am not a Christian. Theodicy didn't cut the mustard for me: Hell has no constructive purpose. How can an all loving God damn one to eternal misery and be 'all good'? And if you would like to delve deeper into textual criticism, I'm more than willing to take on slavery and misogyny from a biblical perspective. Are you game?
So your criticism of people who accept evolution, (no the same as atheists by the way), is to say it's a faith and to ridicule it, but then you admit to having faith, and you yourself are okay with that. So any faith is equally valid, by your own admission, and yet you spend your time trying to debunk someone else's faith which is equally as valid as your faith. Hypocrite.
@emptywithoutjesus Yes neither of us were around at the time of george washington and paul bunyun. But we dont say believing in both of them takes faith or even equal faith.
Are you saying the science of cosmology is equaly faith-based as astrology.
Your statement is typical of people who can not think critically and require no evidence to satisfy their view that something is true. Your right in saying your views are plain and simple. They are also very arrogant and show no respect for all that human knowledge has brought you as you sit in your comfortable house and play with technology. It's only because of the science you deny that you can afford to be so ignorant.
@emptywithoutjesus You make an empty claim. If you had even one shred of evidence, one hard fact that you could point to that was irrefutable the world would be a very different place. I am not willfully ignoring something, you don't have anything. I am not kidding anyone, you are kidding yourself. You appear to be a zealot, convinced that your particular fairy tale is true and everyone else is deluded. People like you exist in every religion on earth and none of you have any real truth.
@milkman5547 Can you prove to me without a shred of doubt that evolution is 100% true? No you can't and you'd be a liar if you said yes. I too have my evidence. Neither one of us where there in the beginning. We both use forensic science to study the past. You simply lose in this area. We also have the spiritual aspect of our faith which provides further evidence of our God. Believe what you will, you have the greater faith!
@emptywithoutjesus Please explain to me what evolution has to do with our discussion. I have no desire to give you an education in biology which is a field of science and has nothing to do with my lack of belief in magic. I understand your criteria for what constitutes acceptable evidence needs to be very low but I would have thought that you would be at lest a little familiar with the mountains of academic research on your bible and religion. Your desire to declare I lose is childish
@riseofatheism "So any faith is equally valid, by your own admission,"
Not exactly. If I believe I will survive jumping off a 10 story building I have faith but is it correct? The atheist has faith in such presumptions and i live to tell them of such unscientific theory and hopefully they will put their trust in their Creator.
Any faith without evidence is equally valid. Your example provides evidence. Which would be past experience of people jumping off of buildings. Experience says people jumping off of buildings will kill you. So what does science have to do with atheism?
You do realize that even among scientist that are christian there is a high acceptance of evolution.
Please do a bit a research Im sorry but it does not take faith to believe facts. Plus Evolution is not a mere fact, its arguably the most well established theory in all science.
First, evolution and atheism have nothing to do with each other. The only reason evolution crops up and atheists defend it is because theists attack it on a regular basis since it does not agree with their doctrine. Second, evolution and abiogenesis are separate subjects. Evolution does not have to explain the origin of life just as Newton's law of gravity does not have to explain where gravity comes from. Next, we get the tired old argument that evolution or abiogenesis takes (cont)
(cont) "a lot of faith." Faith is defined as belief without evidence. Science requires evidence. Since we have mountains of evidence for evolution, there is no need for faith. When we have empirical evidence, it is no longer a matter of opinion but rather a matter of fact. Why atheists get so angry is that theists willingly believe in something of which there is no evidence (often in spite of the evidence), yet criticize a theory that has more supporting evidence than any other theory (cont 2)
(cont 2) in all of science.. for not having enough evidence! The logical hypocrisy is literally awe inspiring. Definition of religion: (1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance. I have stated why science does not have "faith," therefore, evolution does not meet any of those definitions. Ray Comfort is merely attempting to redefine terms to fit his argument, which is a logical fallacy. I don't want to sound (cont 3)
(cont 3) mean, but not only is this a logical fallacy, but it is the most pitiful of arguments. Why not just "let it go?" Because religion is attempting to undermine science! They are attempting to get religion taught in the science classroom, they are turning it into a political issue, Ray Comfort even has the BALLS to write an introduction to the origin of species! Furthermore, NO ONE has said evolution cannot be challenged. It is constantly tested on a daily basis and evolutionary (cont 4)
(cont 4) biology is one of the most active fields in science. In fact, science encourages one to challenge theories, it is literally how we gain new knowledge. However, one must present empirical evidence (keyword here) in order to challenge a theory. This is why science does not take ID seriously. They have produced no theories, no data, done no studies... they don't even have a testable hypothesis! I guarantee you that as soon as a theist produces valid, observable, repeatable data (cont 5)
(cont 5) they will INSTANTLY be taken seriously by the scientific community. By the way, you are still committing the "no true scottsman" fallacy, no matter how you try to sugar coat it. This is entirely different than calling someone a hypocrite (which is quite valid).
@naejimba "This is why science does not take ID seriously. They have produced no theories, no data, done no studies... they don't even have a testable hypothesis! "
Not true. See the institute for creation research's attempt to put a Creation curriculum into the schools in Texas. it almost got approved until the evolutionists got involved. Why are they so worried? they always shoot it down. They're afraid of something..perhaps the facts. Another view? cont.
@emptywithoutjesus, simply attempting to get something taught in public schools does not mean it is supported by empirical evidence, as in this case. There is literally not one shred of empirical evidence to back creationism... NOT ONE! It's not science since the hypothesis is not testable and there is not one shred of evidence to back it. That is the fact that you cannot deny.
@naejimba There is literally not one shred of empirical evidence to back creationism... What is your empirical evidence that nothing can create something? You don't have it either. So why can't both be taught in school.
@emptywithoutjesus, first, this is a strawman and is not what the big bang theory says. Second, abiogenesis and evolution are COMPLETELY separate subjects. The origin of life has nothing to do with evolution. Evolution (which is taught in schools) is supported by more empirical evidence than any other theory currently in science. There is so much fail in that comment I don't even care to go into more detail. You need to educate yourself a bit before making such ridiculous claims.
You suppose that god created everything with the snap of his fingers........yet fail to understand that a singularity is indeed SOMETHING?
Earth has science to thank for every single iota and shred of progress we've experienced. The application of rigorous testing and fact-checking that makes up the scientific process is what we value. It shows creationism to be a hollow log, full of dreams. Why teach creationism, when it has neither value nor proof?
Sorry for the length of time in responding, but....your question...it's so fallacious it's funny. It didn't have to be created, and your use of created shows your a priori tendency to assume intelligent agency.
The singularity could easily have been a byproduct of a multiverse, as one theory might postulate, or even the product of m-brane spawning as another might postulate. However, to assume a god that one can neither define nor explain...answers nothing.
@emptywithoutjesus ''How did the "singularity" get created?''Where is the evidence that the singularity was ''created''? The fact that you asked this question shows that you have only a superficial understanding of cosmology and even more imortantly- quantum physcis.
@naejimba Reliegion is not being a Christina. Being a Christian is following a person. it requires being born again. it is an experience that is real and undeniable.
Dude, you start your video talking to atheists and then switch to discussing evolution? The science of evolutionary biology doesn't have anything to do with atheism. Have you ever heard of The Clergy Letter Project? So far (as of February 21, 2010), it has been signed by 12,447 Christian clergy men and women who believe there is no conflict between their faith and their acceptance of modern science (including evolution). Check it out, please.
I find it interesting that you attack so many fellow Christians (signers of the Clergy Letter Project). Is it just because they don't share your misguided views on science? Whatever the reason, your response doesn't have anything to do with the reality that evolutionary biology is accepted science and has nothing to do with religion.
I would like what your REAL goal is. I've read the comments and it is clear that atheists are aggravated by your opening. You choose Ray Comfort, the least respected of any Christian evangelist(except for maybe Kent Hovind) to atheists. Either you are not a smart person and can't read how people are reacting to your approach, or you are purposely trying to antagonize them. It's one or the other. Time to man-up and confess.
@YOURINQUIRER " I would like what your REAL goal is."
To reveal to the atheist that their is a Creator and that believing lies such as evolution can be easily discovered.
"Either you are not a smart person and can't read how people are reacting to your approach, or you are purposely trying to antagonize them."
No. Their reaction proves their dogmatic faith. How do I react when some of them comment negatively to me? Do I attack them? No. I only speak the truth. it's so obvious to see.
@emptywithoutjesus There are others on YouTube & elsewhere who do not get the reaction that you do from atheists. When I took classes in personal evangelism, good Christian men taught me that to not examine my approach after a bad encounter was a sign of arrogance & even sadism. Your defense is the same one the Phelp's cult uses.
It's not that "God must not be the answer", it's that "God can't be the answer until some aspect of its existence is demonstrated to manifest". Without such a demonstration, we have no idea what we're even talking about.
Even if God was demonstrated to be the answer though, it would have zero explanatory value. It would just amount to nothing really needing explanation, because infinitely powerful and complex things can simply exist and be eternal with no further explanation needed.
The reason you and Comfort want to call Evolution a religion is that your faith already knows how to mentally deal with opposing religions. You can't handle the factual beatdown offered by modern science.
You tout the tens of years of studying of creationist scientists, but you are more than willing to dismiss the same years of study by the rest of the scientific community. Do you think that only creationists ever studied? How's that for hubris...
@Cafeeine "You can't handle the factual beat down offered by modern science. "
You mean when they tell me nothing created everything and that one time long long ago some primordial goo sprang life for no reason??? That :"Smack down"?
@emptywithoutjesus It took you two months to come up with this comeback? Really?
Scientists are examining how the real world works and they draw their conclusions from that. Whether this suits your personal sensibilities and the collection of scribblings you've put your faith in, really is irrelevant.
@emptywithoutjesus I realize you weren't staying up nights over my comment, however offering up your own incredulity as evidence does not diminish the achievements of science.
Everybody uses speculation on the facts to arrive at any explanation. What science does is test those speculations to see how they measure up to reality. They do not cling to ideas that have no evidential value (hint: this includes your god)
You talk about Comfort's version of Origin. You neglect to mention that Comfort omitted chapters from the actual book that contradict his claims, and also apparently plagiarized Stan Guffey for a large part of his introduction. Such dishonesty warrants a reaction.
"ou talk about Comfort's version of Origin. You neglect to mention that Comfort omitted chapters from the actual book that contradict his claims" I don't think so. check his web site.
Ray comfort (by his own standards) admits that his belief in god will not change, regardless of anything, he has no intellectually honest standpoint (makes a change).
He has also always failed to provide the least bit of evidence for his beliefs, and every public attempt had ended in absolute immediate failure and dissapointment of the hype he creates before hand.
Ray Comfort has nothing and using him as your standard makes you an even bigger fool that he is.
Again with the veiled implications that atheists address Xians because they secretly know there's something to it. Of course, the irony is rich when coming from a Christian who admitted he addresses atheists. Are you secretly fearing we're right?
Of course, the assertion is as unfounded either way, but it's funny when your implications unwittingly tar yourself as well.
Empty, come on, be honest with yourself. You don't want to talk to atheists. That implies two-way communication. You want to talk at atheists, hoping you reach an ear that doesn't know to distinguish the absurdness and utter falsity of your sources. That also enables you to just not listen when someone calls you out on it.
I NEVER said that you have no right to say anything. I said that what you claim goes against what scholars, theologians and those learned in the chapter you claim is about JC do NOT agree with what you say.
Who should be believed and held in higher regard? A person who spent their life studying the subject, logically looks at it, and is held in high regard or you making a claim that doesn't hold any continuity with the rest of the book?

This is my opinion on atheism as a religion First off, I would concede that it is a belief - but then I'd argue that everything we "know" is only what we believe, so that doesn't really change anything. Secondly, I would say it is different from major religions because of the way our belief come about. Your beliefs come from God right? So if you can find evidence to prove that, great. Our beliefs come from the evidence, which we collect before we decide what to believe. That is how we differ

@Squiffy633 Hey Squiffy, I appreciate your comments on my profile page. That's all I'm about. Presenting my side of the debate. My harder edge on the videos is for those stubborn atheists (most of whom curse at me).
emptywithoutjesus 3 weeks ago
@emptywithoutjesus Its good so see some decent argument out there, I enjoy debating, and YouTube is an excellent forum for it. It's a shame that there can be so much hate, it really detracts from otherwise good stuff going on. But don't worry about them and keep making videos!
Squiffy633 3 weeks ago
There are a couple of important points that you don't appear to grasp. Firstly atheism is independent of evolution. One deals with population mechanics, the other a belief in the existence of god. Secondly, regarding your assertion that macro evolution never happens, there's an elephant in the room that you're ignoring: the theory of evolution is completely falsifiable.
Corbs4u 5 months ago
Atheism is not a 'religion' - you really need to start looking outside the labels and cults that population controlling religions have been doing for thousands and thousands of years...
togalogs 5 months ago
@togalogs It is a religion in the sense that it adheres to a set of beliefs. Why all the atheist web sites, books, radio shows defending atheism and attacking Christianity???
Just go away if you're an atheist. Why defend anything if you believe we all go away in the end.

Do not be discouraged by the thumbs down man, the majority of frequent youtubers are atheists/9/11 truthers.

Your videos are vapid, ego stroking exercises of incredulity.
lowcomedy 11 months ago
@lowcomedy If you truly believe that, let me ask you a question. How many atheists are scientists who fully understand the true science of 1: the big bang theory, 2: evolution/biology? I'm not sure, but I would venture to say at least less than half. Yet, without "evidence", they are atheists none the less. Why, if atheism requires evidence and science, are most atheists not scientists themselves?
critter505 9 months ago
@critter505 because the belief in a deity requires both a blind faith and the absence of any critical mind, and some people are clever enough not to surrender their brains to a bronze-age horseshit, even without being quantum astrobiologists. These people are the reason why I personally believe that humanity is not doomed (yet).
ungarsdu38 9 months ago
@ungarsdu38 soooooo, they are clever because they believe the word of a man over the written word of God? Pretty sure that doesn't even come close to answering my question. See, you are under the delusion that civility will be the saving graces of humanity, but if you truly were an atheist you'd have to agree that humans are animals, hence are not truly civil. And, by saying that those who believe in a deity lack critical thought, you've negated any critical reasoning you might have otherwise...
critter505 9 months ago
@critter505 the word of which god? Shiva-Brahma-Vishnu? Yahweh? Wotan? Zeus? Baal? Ra? Allah? Molock? Quetzalcoatl? An? Mother Nature? Aramazd? Prehistoric Venuses? The Holy Fairies in my pants? Papa Smurf? yeah right. And I do agree that human are animals, hence certainly not spontaneously civil. They are self-educated though to avoid killing each other (most of the time) hence maintaining a sort-of civilised and ordered society, in which we happily live. How the rapture's going btw?
ungarsdu38 9 months ago
@ungarsdu38 Paul, Steve, Chris, Martin, Helen. Maybe these are even sillier names to base you entire faith or lack thereof on. "Holy nerds in my pants!" BTW, the Bible says no man, not the angels in Heaven, not even the Son of God knows the day or hour in which he returns, so sorry, but that didn't really shake my faith because some old guy thought he could predict the rapture date. But, I'll tell you on thing, the rapture won't be going so well for you when it comes.....And it will.
critter505 9 months ago
@critter505 LOL yeah, christians have predicted doom's day for over 9000 years at least. Still waiting... Guess what, it won't happen :( Not during your lifespan, not during your grandchild lifespan, not even during your grandgrand(...)grandgrand-child lifespan (he'll probably pray another deity anyway and won't even be bothered), not ever. The ugly truth is that christian apocalypse is as delusional as any other religion's. But hey, who cares? Be repentful for your sins, and let me enjoy mine!
ungarsdu38 9 months ago
@ungarsdu38 Try it like this""Atheists, and all types have tried to predict the end of the world through alarm-ism, like global warming, etc...still waiting, guess what, it won't happen. (Not in your lifespan, not in your grand children's lifespan, not even in your great, great grand child's life either)." The beautiful truth is God is very real, and you wouldn't know, because you never tried to meet him. But, hey, who cares.....actually, billions do. Be damned by your sins, let me be saved...
critter505 9 months ago
@critter505 global warming is not a doom's day prediction. And is totally unrelated to religion... Take it as a projection of a shift in the chemical composition of the atmosphere. The shift is very real, as it is observable/measurable. The "global warming" is more controversial as it is a hypothesis but still a very probable one. You NEVER actually 'met' your god but 'felt' it. God is not observable, it is emotional. As such, it has no reality beyond your brains. That's why it is a delusion.
ungarsdu38 9 months ago
@ungarsdu38 Yes, global warming is just as much a dooms day prediction, because most true scientists do not believe it to be scientific fact. But, that really wasn't the point, the point is something as secular as global warming could be made to sound as ridiculously inferred upon as you did with the rapture. It's all in the wording. And, yes I have met my God, in a way someone like you couldn't begin to imagine, and no I am not crazy. God IS observable, and very tangible. It's just too bad....
critter505 9 months ago
@critter505 ok, "global warming" is not a doom's day prediction because it won't "happen" like your rapture. And it's as "secular" as DNA or, say, copper. Still, no, god is not tangible, not real (you know, like stuff).it only exists in the bible and the brains of some billion delusional people of this planet. it used to be a valid hypothesis though, when the world was an utter mystery (like in the bronze age, if that rings a bell). it is now a bit outdated. You are not crazy, you are delusional.
ungarsdu38 9 months ago
@ungarsdu38 ...you wouldn't know him if he smacked you in the face. I know, you think because you bought into the whole "I'm an atheist, and because of that I'm smarter than anyone who believes in God", BS. But, I'm sorry you are not as smart as you give yourself credit for. Heck, nobody on this planet is for that matter. Science is the pursuit of knowledge, not the anti-equation to religion. It's too bad you have forgotten that.
critter505 9 months ago
just because some one believes in evolution it does NOT make them atheist. I know muslims, christians and a jew that all believe in evolution. Just because almost all atheist believe in evolution does not make the two synonymous.

@emptywithoutjesus So you think it’s unfair to dismiss the discredited views of creationist scientists just because they are few in number? In that case, why is the fact that atheists make up 1.6% of the population a valid reason to dismiss atheism, as you argue in “Sad News for Atheists?”
jfresh40 1 year ago

DeeDemonwitch 1 year ago
Yes if you do not follow the scientific method you can't be a scientist. You can always be a pseudo scientist just like astrologist and people reading palms. The reason for this distinction is because pseudo science at its best contributes NOTHING to the knowledge of human kind at worst it retards its followers into taking actions which will negatively impact their lives as well as people in contact with them.
If you want to question evolution you must first understand the theory. You don't.

A - no, none, lack of
Theism - belief in a deity/supernatural entity
Atheism - Lack of belief in a deity/supernatural entity
I so wish that I could sit down with you, emptywithoutjesus....and introduce you to science.

YurNotSpecial 1 year ago
@YurNotSpecial Please explain how your theory even began. Can nothing create anything? has it ever been observed?
emptywithoutjesus 1 year ago
@emptywithoutjesus Something coming from nothing... isn't that what YOU believe? Now then, you do realize that the origin of life has nothing to do with the theory of evolution right? That's called abiogenesis; it's not yet a theory. It is usually a good idea to know something about the subject you're talking about before trying to argue against it. It's quite hilarious how you entirely avoided my question and dusted off some tired old straw man arguments.

Most Christians are evolutionists and most evolutionists are Christians. Faith is believing something without or in spite of evidence. You're wrong, it's as simple as that. We could continue playing this game of me stating there is no proof for god and you repeating that there is, but it's useless. @emptywithoutjesus You cant have one without the other? It seems so much of what you say isnt given much thought. Are you not aware that there are more christians who accept evolution than there are atheists in total? @tallifer1 DNA simply doesnt lie. So why is it you dont address christian "evolutionists"? Are they somehow right where atheists are wrong? Why is it you keep saying evolution/big bang is false when you clearly dont understand them? If my lack of belief in yahweh is a religion, then your lack of belief in krishna is just one of the thousands of religions you have. If evolution is a religion, so is geology and physics, they have leaders too so obviously they are also religions.
tallifer1 1 year ago
@tallifer1 you hilariously ask atheists "if youre so secure in your beliefs whats the big deal?" The big deal is your dont have even a basic understanding of the scientific ideas you claim are fairy tales. Im comfortable that 2+2=4 but if someone keeps insisting 2+2=5, and that 2+2=4 is just a fairy tale then I would also make a big deal out of that. To further correct your arguments from ignorance, note that Darwin wasnt the founder of the evolution theory.
tallifer1 1 year ago
@tallifer1 It had been a theory years before, what was lacking was the method of evolution, Darwin discovered the method was natural selection. Those who actually know about evolution and biology can tell you there is no such distinction between micro and macro evolution, its like saying you can walk to the end of the street but not to the edge of town. You also seem to not understand debunking. If you say china doenst exist and someone shows china does its debunked, theres no opinion involved

"you can't have one without the other"
Not true.
You can use numbers to do math even without knowing how they came around.

In that same way we can explain life's complexity without knowing what jump-started it.

And if you would like to delve deeper into textual criticism, I'm more than willing to take on slavery and misogyny from a biblical perspective. Are you game?

@GeneHarrogate " How can an all loving God damn one to eternal misery and be 'all good'?"
We put our selves in Hell. it's mankind's choice. God reserves a place for people to go that reject His salvation. Is that so wrong?

You don't start of very good. What atheists have in common is not what they believe but what they do NOT believe.
You can be atheist and stil believe in fairies, ghosts, not believe in evolution and worship your ancestors.
If you don't even know what atheism is then I wouldn't recommend you making videos about the subject.

Debunk - to expose the pretensions or falseness of, esp by ridicule
Yep. Sounds like a debunk to me.
riseofatheism 2 years ago
So your criticism of people who accept evolution, (no the same as atheists by the way), is to say it's a faith and to ridicule it, but then you admit to having faith, and you yourself are okay with that. So any faith is equally valid, by your own admission, and yet you spend your time trying to debunk someone else's faith which is equally as valid as your faith. Hypocrite.
riseofatheism 2 years ago
Listen, we both were NOT there in the beginning. We both have faith. I believe you have the greater. Plain and simple.
emptywithoutjesus 2 years ago
@emptywithoutjesus Yes neither of us were around at the time of george washington and paul bunyun. But we dont say believing in both of them takes faith or even equal faith.
Are you saying the science of cosmology is equaly faith-based as astrology.
NO, the difference is evidence.
gusb232 2 years ago
Your statement is typical of people who can not think critically and require no evidence to satisfy their view that something is true. Your right in saying your views are plain and simple. They are also very arrogant and show no respect for all that human knowledge has brought you as you sit in your comfortable house and play with technology. It's only because of the science you deny that you can afford to be so ignorant.

" Your statement is typical of people who can not think critically and require no evidence to satisfy their view that something is true."
YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING!!! there is so much evidence for the existence of the Judeo Christian god that you must willfully ignore it!
emptywithoutjesus 1 year ago
@emptywithoutjesus You make an empty claim. If you had even one shred of evidence, one hard fact that you could point to that was irrefutable the world would be a very different place. I am not willfully ignoring something, you don't have anything. I am not kidding anyone, you are kidding yourself. You appear to be a zealot, convinced that your particular fairy tale is true and everyone else is deluded. People like you exist in every religion on earth and none of you have any real truth.
milkman5547 1 year ago
@milkman5547 Can you prove to me without a shred of doubt that evolution is 100% true? No you can't and you'd be a liar if you said yes. I too have my evidence. Neither one of us where there in the beginning. We both use forensic science to study the past. You simply lose in this area. We also have the spiritual aspect of our faith which provides further evidence of our God. Believe what you will, you have the greater faith!
emptywithoutjesus 1 year ago
@emptywithoutjesus Please explain to me what evolution has to do with our discussion. I have no desire to give you an education in biology which is a field of science and has nothing to do with my lack of belief in magic. I understand your criteria for what constitutes acceptable evidence needs to be very low but I would have thought that you would be at lest a little familiar with the mountains of academic research on your bible and religion. Your desire to declare I lose is childish
milkman5547 1 year ago
@riseofatheism "So any faith is equally valid, by your own admission,"
Not exactly. If I believe I will survive jumping off a 10 story building I have faith but is it correct? The atheist has faith in such presumptions and i live to tell them of such unscientific theory and hopefully they will put their trust in their Creator.
emptywithoutjesus 1 year ago
@emptywithoutjesus
Well then. Correction:

Next, we get the tired old argument that evolution or abiogenesis takes (cont)
naejimba 2 years ago
(cont) "a lot of faith." Faith is defined as belief without evidence. Science requires evidence. Since we have mountains of evidence for evolution, there is no need for faith. When we have empirical evidence, it is no longer a matter of opinion but rather a matter of fact. Why atheists get so angry is that theists willingly believe in something of which there is no evidence (often in spite of the evidence), yet criticize a theory that has more supporting evidence than any other theory (cont 2)
naejimba 2 years ago
(cont 2) in all of science.. for not having enough evidence! The logical hypocrisy is literally awe inspiring. Definition of religion: (1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance. I have stated why science does not have "faith," therefore, evolution does not meet any of those definitions. Ray Comfort is merely attempting to redefine terms to fit his argument, which is a logical fallacy. I don't want to sound (cont 3)
naejimba 2 years ago
(cont 3) mean, but not only is this a logical fallacy, but it is the most pitiful of arguments. Why not just "let it go?" Because religion is attempting to undermine science! They are attempting to get religion taught in the science classroom, they are turning it into a political issue, Ray Comfort even has the BALLS to write an introduction to the origin of species! Furthermore, NO ONE has said evolution cannot be challenged. It is constantly tested on a daily basis and evolutionary (cont 4)
naejimba 2 years ago
(cont 4) biology is one of the most active fields in science. In fact, science encourages one to challenge theories, it is literally how we gain new knowledge. However, one must present empirical evidence (keyword here) in order to challenge a theory. This is why science does not take ID seriously. They have produced no theories, no data, done no studies... they don't even have a testable hypothesis! I guarantee you that as soon as a theist produces valid, observable, repeatable data (cont 5)
naejimba 2 years ago
(cont 5) they will INSTANTLY be taken seriously by the scientific community. By the way, you are still committing the "no true scottsman" fallacy, no matter how you try to sugar coat it. This is entirely different than calling someone a hypocrite (which is quite valid).
naejimba 2 years ago
@naejimba "This is why science does not take ID seriously. They have produced no theories, no data, done no studies... they don't even have a testable hypothesis! "
Not true. See the institute for creation research's attempt to put a Creation curriculum into the schools in Texas. it almost got approved until the evolutionists got involved. Why are they so worried? they always shoot it down. They're afraid of something..perhaps the facts. Another view? cont.
emptywithoutjesus 1 year ago
@emptywithoutjesus, simply attempting to get something taught in public schools does not mean it is supported by empirical evidence, as in this case. There is literally not one shred of empirical evidence to back creationism... NOT ONE! It's not science since the hypothesis is not testable and there is not one shred of evidence to back it. That is the fact that you cannot deny.
naejimba 1 year ago
@naejimba There is literally not one shred of empirical evidence to back creationism... What is your empirical evidence that nothing can create something? You don't have it either. So why can't both be taught in school.
emptywithoutjesus 1 year ago

@MizarShadow How did the "singularity" get created?
emptywithoutjesus 1 year ago
@emptywithoutjesus

Check it out, please.
jingle3 2 years ago 3
@jingle3 I don't care what clergy say. Half of those people aren't even Biblical Christians.
emptywithoutjesus 1 year ago
@emptywithoutjesus

No. I only speak the truth. it's so obvious to see.
emptywithoutjesus 1 year ago

Gnomefro 2 years ago 2
The reason you and Comfort want to call Evolution a religion is that your faith already knows how to mentally deal with opposing religions. You can't handle the factual beatdown offered by modern science.
You tout the tens of years of studying of creationist scientists, but you are more than willing to dismiss the same years of study by the rest of the scientific community. Do you think that only creationists ever studied? How's that for hubris...

emptywithoutjesus 1 year ago
@emptywithoutjesus It took you two months to come up with this comeback? Really?
Scientists are examining how the real world works and they draw their conclusions from that. Whether this suits your personal sensibilities and the collection of scribblings you've put your faith in, really is irrelevant.
Cafeeine 1 year ago
@Cafeeine Like I sat at home and wondered how to reply to you...C'mon. It may take awhile but I do get around to viewing every comment.
Scientists are dishonest and use speculation mixed with fact to produce the current theorys. They never include God and that's the problem.
emptywithoutjesus 1 year ago
@emptywithoutjesus I realize you weren't staying up nights over my comment, however offering up your own incredulity as evidence does not diminish the achievements of science.
Everybody uses speculation on the facts to arrive at any explanation. What science does is test those speculations to see how they measure up to reality. They do not cling to ideas that have no evidential value (hint: this includes your god)
Cafeeine 1 year ago
You talk about Comfort's version of Origin. You neglect to mention that Comfort omitted chapters from the actual book that contradict his claims, and also apparently plagiarized Stan Guffey for a large part of his introduction. Such dishonesty warrants a reaction.

"ou talk about Comfort's version of Origin. You neglect to mention that Comfort omitted chapters from the actual book that contradict his claims" I don't think so. check his web site.

You fail before you even begin.
