Actually they do put Chemicals in them. Not bad tho, because it has to be legalized and tested on animals first. Just kidding, that was kinda fucked up of me to say that.

Obviously... the green one, for example, probably has copper (II) sulfate in it, since it emits a green flame. Pretty simple, but most people are too chemistry-illiterate to understand, so they will just stare at the flames and wonder why it's not orange.

Maybe it's just the people that you know. Amorphous boron also creates a green flame.
