  • Mouse Detective and The Rescuers....I grew up on those in the 90's

  • 5 - ROTJ will always hold a special place in my heart, as I remember watching (literally) every night when my mum went to work, I don't think any film has ever come close to matching the amount of times I've seen that film. I did have fast-forward through Darth Vader's scariest moments, and of course, the tragic death of the Ewok.

  • 1 - I saw a New Hope first, on VHS after getting them for Christmas, around 1997 I think. It blew my little 7 year-old mind out of the water, I was hooked.

    2 - See above.

3 - I don't remember, but I saw it with my family in a really old theatre in Cornwall, they still had an intermission and everything!

4 - I owned toy Tie Fighters, X-Wings, Star Wars Tazos, novels, encyclopaedias...everything and anything I could get my hands on with my pittance pocket money!

  • 1- EP 4

    2- VHS

3- My brother bought first showing tickets, so yeah.

    4- I have an original AT-AT.

5- I like the original three equally. Cop-out answer, no?

    Original Question

1&2- I was at a cousins birthday party, and they wanted to see little mermaid, so, that's what we saw. The first movie that made an impression on me though, was Jurassic Park if for no other reason than Studio 28 had a full scale T-Rex head coming through the ceiling of the lobby. It was a good movie too...

  • Well i'm only 18 but, I'll try and answer your questions. lol

    1. The Original(New hope...wasn't called that back then :P)

    2. I actually saw it on tv. I think it was like "WB sunday movies" or something like that. I remember cuz it must have been around 1pm when I watched it.

    3. I don't think so...but the theater was so crowded ppl were sitting on the floor. I was literally 3ft from the screen.

    4.A blue lightsaber

5.Return of the Jedi or Revenge of the Sith (hard choice)

  • 1- A New Hope

    2- VHS

3- No, but I did see it 7 times...

4- I own several of the action figures and a lighsaber lol

5- I always change my mind about this one, but as a kid my favorite was always Return of the Jedi

  • 1. A New Hope

    2. VHS

    3. Nope, I had to wait for DVD. I had a lot going on in that period of my life.

    4. I always wanted some, but my mother was on a strict budget back then. Now I just don't care to own any since I'm not a figurine kind of guy unless it's for anime.

    5. Unlike most people, I liked Return of the Jedi the most.

First movie on the big screen was Ghostbusters 2, but we walked out because it got too scary for my 4 year old self.

First Disney movie in theaters was Peter Pan.

  • ROTJ is getting a lot of love among the comments here...

I love the lightsaber duel in the ROTJ between Darth and Luke - epic stuff.

  • Great vlog. Do more like that.

  • I was born in 87 so I missed out on the releases but I had seen them all on tape before I can even remember and have seen them countless times since.

I did see Phantom Menace in theaters but luckily I didn't stand in line for it.

Did I own any Star Wars toys? More than I can count! The toy line had a renaissance in the mid ninties and stole my interest away from GI Joe.

The best movie is Empire beyond a shadow of a doubt. RotJ might have been the best if the Ewoks were dropped.

  • Star wars was my first big movie, was 5, had to see it twice, as i slept thru the end, first time. then second, I slept thru the first part, so i got to see the whole flick. my first disney was a herbie flick.

  • Good thing you practiced singing a lot in your car ! :-)

  • Carly Simon! (C'mon, dude!!)

The Spy Who Loved Me is a perennial karaoke favorite of mine! : )

  • 1- Probably Episode IV

2- VHS. We had all three recorded from cable, and I watched them over and over again. Ep V eventually broke under the stress.

3- Not for hours or anything. We probably waited until it had been out a few days. I was 12 at the time, so I didn't exactly have much say in it.

4- Yes. Lots of kids meal stuff from SE's release and the prequels, many PEZ dispensers, LEGOs, only a couple action figures (Vader and Storm Trooper Luke)

5- Pretty close between V and VI, but V wins.

  • As for the original two questions, I'm pretty certain I saw Aladdin in theaters.

I don't remember what film I first saw in theaters was, though. I'm tempted to say Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, considering how huge a fan I was of that during my entire childhood, but I would have been 3 when it came out. When the second came out I would be 4, so it may be my first. The third one I know I saw in theaters, but that was after Aladdin.

  • Remember Benji?

The ever ubiquitous, furry, adorable-as-a-mother-f*&#er rescue puppy?

The film was a PHENOMENON all over Japan back in the mid-1970s. That was probably one of the first movies I ever paid to see as a little kid. But the first big-screen experience ever was when my dad took me to see "Jukkai" (The Ten Commandments) in early 70s. Of course, the original film came out in 1956. But it came back on the Japanese movie theater circuit for the second time by popular (cont'd)>>>

  • >>>demand or something. The main attraction of the fim being the SFX (particularly that of opening of the Red Sea sequence.) I highly doubt Judeo-Christianism and its religious story line was of any interest to many Japanese people back then (and even now.)

And then, of course, came all the rest of the mega-blockbuster fims of the 70s. Jaws, The Bad News Bears, Carrie, Grease, Kramer vs. Kramer, Rocky, The Omen, Superman (w/ Chris Reeve,) Star Wars!!!

Wish I could go back to those days...

  • Not sure if I saw Rocky (1) in a theater, but I for sure saw Rocky 3 in the movies - Clubber Lang!! :D

  • For perspective, I was born in 1984:

    1: A New Hope.

2: VHS (I still own the VHS box set of the original movies)

    3: No, I caught a matinee on a weekday

4: As a kid I had Luke and a random alien from Mos Eisley Cantina. Now, all I have is a Darth Maul t-shirt and a charachter card for Winter.

5: tie, empire strikes back and return of the Jedi.

First movie I remember: The Little Mermaid.

    more star wars:

    favorite book: Truce at Bakura

gripe: They killed Darth Maul too quickley!

  • I totally agree about the death of Darth Maul... I was a little surprised, after all the hype surrounding the character - how his image was on so much merchandise, that they killed him at the end of the film - but I guess there can be only TWO and George wanted to move the story along. They've brought Maul back in the comics occasionally and he is an interesting character with the best lightsaber.

  • Favourites: "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and "2001 - A Space Odyssey". All Woody Allen's, Kubrick's and Hitchcock's movies please me.

Don't forget Celsius, please, such a sweet Swede (I looked it up on Online Conversion: 75 ºF = 24 ºC)

  • 1: Think I saw episode IV first when I was a toddler.

    2: VHS baby!!

3: I was in third grade and I remember that day perfectly. As a third grader and seeing Darth Maul with a double lightsaber blew my mind =]

    4. My dad bought me the original star wars figurines before episode I came out.

    5. I like episode VI the best =]

Thanks for the video response and the shout out!!!

  • no worries - thanks for a fun topic!

  • the force is strong with this one ,yes it is!

  • After watching all your videos, I can imagine how your classes were

  • great star wars story..what would have happened if the movie attendant tapped you and your sister on the head and told your parents that they couldn't come in with you guys :P

  • I know! Lucky huh... :)

  • 4:28 haha!

My favorite Bond film is You Only Live Twice.

  • Is it weird that I think the first movie I remember seeing IS a Disney movie.

It was definitely Aladdin, because I definitely remember being a little scared of the tiger head at the cave of wonders. Which makes sense because I was 4 probably...5 at the latest.

I saw all of the live action Disney movies from that era on VHS...and yeah I am pretty sure I had a crush on the girl in Witch Mountain too.

  • Your thumbnail for this video is hilarious!

  • I am glad I wasn't the only one who saw that...I was laughing pretty hard.

  • haha - yeah, maybe I should change it, but my thumbnails are so often boring that I thought I would leave it

  • No, don't change it! It's awesome.

  • Shoot, I dont even remember. Sadly, we had no movie theater in town, and the closest one was 25 miles away, so I dont really remember going too often.

  • fox and the hound my favorite disney film!

  • 1. Episode IV, the chronological first one

    2. Movie theater, first run, seven times

    3. No, it was easy to get in. Didn't like it.

    4. No. Believe it or not when it was first released, though the merchandising seemed over-the-top for the time, it was nothing like it is now. That, or maybe I was getting too old for toys and didn't notice.

    5. Episode IV.

    1. Love Bug

    2. No clue

Loved both Saturday Night Fever and Grease.
