I saw this production a couple of days ago. It's brilliant! As a West End 'spectacular' 'Spend, Spend, Spend' just didn't work. This is a real 'spit & sawdust' production which beautifully encapsulates Viv Nicholson's rough background. For Sailor...; Older Viv walked on stage and took her trumpet out of its case (which got a laugh). She starts the day's work at the hair 'salon' where a grumpy woman insists on being 'done' by 'The silly cow who lost all that cash'. Viv tells her story...
I think you need to see the actual production before you dismiss it. This production won awards and had excellent reviews and is now touring so there must be something to it. I personally loved it and like you say, to each their own but watch it first, then comment please.
Oh dear...this looks awful! Have seen the musical in the past and loved it, but this production looks so crass and vulgar, that it barely resembles the deep and emotional experience I had whilst viewing the show. Each to their own, but so glad that the version I saw was my first experience of the show. Had I seen this one, I doubt it would be one of my favourite musicals now.
What an absolutly wonderfull show this was! I laughed, i cried, and at the end, all i wanted was to see it all over again! looking forward to the next show!

I saw this on Thursday, it was really good!!!! But I missed the very beginning of it, so could anyone tell me what happened?
