When this first happened I read or heard somewhere that it was a Methane bubble that came up through the hole and caused the initial explosion.

If Methane is being released into the ocean in the gulf, sea life will have more than crude to worry about because it will be a kill of biblical proportions.

i have heard that there is great danger of the oil moving southeast and being picked up by the gulf stream current...that will quickly take it up the east coast, then east over the northern Atlantic. one of the serous dangers, besides the environmental effect to marine and human life, is that it could cause the conveyor to shut down. more or less no transfer of warm and cold waters...which could cause severe global cooling...or even an ice age if the conveyor is completely shuts down.

HOWEVER, I hunt moderately to ensure future existence of the animal, I do not hunt for sport but eat what animals I harvest. I plan two times the trees and planets I harvest to ensure that I give back more than I take. I support alternative fuels and have solar power so we can end our dependence on the oil.

By selling the oil removing chemicals to itself (at an extreme discount), BP can show a great increase in SALES on the books. Even though they are selling to themselves at cost, the SALES charts will show drastic increases to their stockholders.
As for the disaster, the government has been resisting drilling our own oil for decades.

i have heard that there is great danger of the oil moving southeast and being picked up by the gulf stream current...that will quickly take it up the east coast, then east over the northern Atlantic. one of the serous dangers, besides the environmental effect to marine and human life, is that it could cause the conveyor to shut down. more or less no transfer of warm and cold waters...which could cause severe global cooling...or even an ice age if the conveyor is completely shuts down.

HOWEVER, I hunt moderately to ensure future existence of the animal, I do not hunt for sport but eat what animals I harvest. I plan two times the trees and planets I harvest to ensure that I give back more than I take. I support alternative fuels and have solar power so we can end our dependence on the oil.

I heard that the video we have seen is of the second leak. the main leak is the main concern. As bad as it sounds...the junk shot is the best hope with terrible consequences if it fails. The "junk" could cause too much pressure and create a full blow out of the well. Not to mention the potential problem the gas could cause and hurricane season approaching......

Independent scientists feel the leak is more like 62,000 barrels per day. No one seems to want to even entertain the idea that the chemical dispersant BP is using to minimize the size of the oil gusher on the surface (we might as well stop even referring to it as a spill) as a possible culprit in some of these animals dying (like the turtles and dolphins coming up without oil on them and being reported as unknown cause of death). This whole thing makes me sad :o(

Doesn't the Gulf Stream originate in the Gulf of Mexico and flow through the Atlantic toward England? That could really spread the mess around.
