  • Mike Portnoy = best DT drummer

  • Dirk Sherinian = best DT keyboardist

  • @MlKEPORNTOY Derek...not Dirk....

  • DT's best "non-Prog" song (it's not a "ballad", and "Hollow Years" would get that title) and unfortunately something I highly doubt they'd be able to write currently... there are no 5-minute solo/unison/harmony runs in it. ;-)

  • In this gig you can see the smallest drum kit MP had in his entire carreer with DT!!

  • would love to see this song in their next tour sets

  • @Ben802 My answer would be: "FUCK, OF COURSE, I WOULD LIKE!", DT should try to combine this kind of stuff with their more complex and technical songs!.

  • looks like it's pretty 'plugged' to me

  • The good old "World Domination" Picasso Ibanez

  • what album is this song orgninally written on? i want it on my ipod

  • @TheGodofguitar17 Cleaning out the closet. It was release (exclusively i think) for the members of Dream Theater International Fan Club in 1999.

  • @TheGodofguitar17 This song was written during the Falling Into Infinity sessions.... released later as part of Falling Into Infinity Demos

  • Thank you for that "unplugged" video! It's a whole new dimmension of DT that's opening up for me, although I am a fan for almost ten years now.

And I still think, that Sherinian was a great impulse for the band that time.

  • 2 min 06 sec ,mike , great expression

  • who wrote the lyrics to this i wonder?

  • @Dunford00 LaBrie wrote the lyrics to this one. Great tune.

  • They themselves called it :"somewhat unplugged" wich fits good i think

  • when john petrucci picks up an accoustic, shit is about to go down

  • in this past week this song was to me nothing more than a great tune....now it gained meaning in my life...amazing how simple events can give you a fresh perspective in a song as powerful as this

  • I really miss that guitar!

  • Dream Theater is tha band! Not only technique but also heart, something many bands are missing

  • phantom guitar player

  • meh. Petrucci gets enough of the limelight all the time anyways.

  • The only accoustic instrument here is the guitar XD

    Anyway, great song

    DT 4EVAH!

  • @BloqMaCr and the drums too :P haha though this is an awesome song

  • what an amazing voice!

  • that's when dream theater were good!

  • Amazing.

  • this is their best song ever created, and it made me cry

  • Love DT but this is my all time favorite of theirs to me as well. Moving song.

  • I don't understand what is unplugged here?? Electric guitar?? lol

  • The Set-list ;)

  • well, it's not my intention to compare and artist with another one....I just think this song is really amazing. I close my eyes in the moment I ever heard....All the feelings from DT is right now here in Speak to me I guess!

  • BELLO!!!

  • aguante dream thater

  • I love petrucci's hair

  • I love labrie's hair

  • i love labries voice

  • This song should have been included on Falling Into Infinity.

  • i think mark drunk three cups of coffea to stay awake during this song.....that i love.....long life DT

  • yeah, but u2 is gay

    this isnt

  • Stop being so close-minded. If you really like this song, you might digg some of U2 stuff and not just say that they are "gay".

  • rush is older than u2 retard

  • Comment removed

  • agreed, parts do sound very much like U2

  • dream theater write this style of music so well, makes you wonder why they dont bring out a whole album of similar material. I would love to see them write an album with 10,11 songs rather than the usual 7 or 8

  • there is no another way and the only way is shutin f*ck up please

  • DT has demostrated that they are expressive and melodic both in a complex and in a simple way. Just the best musicians in the world.

  • dream theater rules

  • fucking love this song

  • ahhh shit!

    i want that bass!

  • Hell yes.

  • this is perfect

  • <3I love this video

  • that's the most amazing Dream Theater ballad I ever heard!!...that's my favorite one....I like the way LaBrie puts all his feelings in this song!...It sounds like U2 or Keane..yeah I already know anyone else could think "that's a lie!" but however I just realized of this about two months ago...

  • ok.. U2 is just fine, Keane is a faggot with a gay keyboard.. guess not much more to say

  • jejejeje! perhaps...who knows....I'm not a Keane fan, I just said it sounds like Keane...

  • No lo creo

  • Sorry....I didn't realise....it sounds better than KEANE!!...it sounds DREAM THEATER...a perfect song like this couldn't be like Keane song!...that's the reason I like Dream Theater!...that's a perfect song!...sorry for my last answer...I already changed my mind... ^^

  • It's good to have you back again

  • @sarcol i disagree.. keane are great musicians. But only their first 2 albums.. the new stuff is poppy crap. I never liked u2 much

  • Thus proving that behind all of the complex arrangements and technical passages, Dream Theater are GREAT SONGWRITERS. To those who say there are no emotions and all they do is play fast, keep in mind that songs as long as the ones they normally write, in order to work must, above all, be EXTREMELY well-written and driven by feel.

    I win.

  • @EndeavorLeadGtr totally agree with you. No other way to say it

  • @EndeavorLeadGtr the problem is, their new music is not driven by feel. It's musical gymnastics and nothing more. The criticism is valid and well deserved. There are those who reinvent and move forward, than there are those who regress. No one in their right mind would question their musicianship, but to question their new music is once again valid and not devoid of merit.

  • @BarbarosDerby132 I agree about the majority of the newer music, but most of their catalog is not that way.

  • I like how they're still plugged in. xD

    Great song, nice show.

Need more shots of Derek, though.

  • Is the same feeling of I Walk Beside You

  • Totaly agree. Both songs sounds to U2 influences, but I really prefer this one. Beautyfull song. One of my favourites.

  • pure poetry.

    And U2 style,imho : )

  • They covered bad at this show too

  • U2 was actually one of the major influences in this song. I listened to the commentary on this DVD and i think they said it was written after watching...a U2 movie...lol i forget which one

  • seriously dont think so...u2's music is all the same 3 chords or 2 notes

  • Dream Theater are allowed to have been influenced by U2 without mimicing their sound, they just incorporated the U2 sound into a Dream Theater song.

  • labrie °o° ti adoro

  • Amazing...

  • Damn the industry, this one and raise the knife turn out to be my favorites from the infinity sessions. Long Live DT, Now and Forever!!

  • i love this unplugged, is unbeateable ^^

  • I love this song.

  • What does unplugged mean? Purely acoustic?

  • yea

  • wheres derek?

  • Great song. Should have been on the Infinity album!

  • best

  • :| totally unexpected from DT, but good nonetheless. Very appropriate for today, uh?

  • Love it!

  • It's the cosy dream theater, they got candles and all! that's why they call it unplugged ;)

  • dont forget the stools =]

  • This particular performance wasn't unplugged. Somebody mislabeled it. This concert had two parts, one was an unplugged section while the other was normal. The concert was a special fan club thing that lasted about 4 hours.

  • why is it called unplugged?

    everybody is amplified?

  • Its the closest thing to an unplugged DT show there's ever been

  • amazing song...the best band ever..dream theater

  • This one, along with all the B-sides is ion a fan club-only album called cleaning out the closet... Try finding it online!

  • ebay has all the fan club releases

  • You could get the audio from limeWire.

  • the best band

  • Great song!

  • anybody know how i could get the audio from this?

  • I figured this single would of been awesome if they didn't make it a B side song.

  • ieven love more this song!

  • i love this band!

  • This Song Is Great, if you observe you can see how John indicates Mike Portnoy(aka:My God) that he's hitting to hard @ 3:18

  • A Great SoNG!!

  • That has absolutely no resemblance to the Pink Floyd song 'Speak to Me' bar the name...

  • jajajaja you didnt see the video? right? speak to me of pink floyd does'not have that duracion... speak to me of Dream Theater it's a beutiful song that has not absolute match whit de pink floyds version...speak to me i'ts completly original from dream theater

  • You are an asshole... this is not the same song as PinkFloyd's "Speak To Me/Breathe"

  • Great!!!

  • uber show!
