The only real differences are time period, how they explain being inhuman, and how one is brilliantly funny (due to incredible voice English voice acting:Trigun) (while the other is more dark/gothic/emo serious with fail-attempts at funniness: Hellsing).

Oh yeah another similarity. The English dub is better than the original Japanese voice acting as far as fitting the character.. a rarity among Anime.

There's only six episodes to the Hellsing OVA out so far, which follows direly by the Hellsing manga which is already indeed finished running in at 10 volumes, excluding the on going prequel : Hellsing the Dawn.

Because there are only 10 volumes to the manga ( excluding the Dawn which is the Hellsing prequel which will also be receiving an OVA ) there will most likely be 10 OVA's ( 20 counting the dawn and how far it goes.. ) seeing as the OVA follows the Hellsing manga near strictly and direly.
