I think you need to have a turbo to install dump valves though.

@CLUMZYLB The car runs great and ive never had any problems with it. As for gas, its pretty good as long as you're not always on the boost. The only thing that may be a problem is finding 93 octane near you. I can only find it at a few places where I live, so just make sure you can find 93 octane.

yeah man, i have an 02 wrx with suspension mods and a prodrive exhaust but otherwise stock. Putting a blitz nur spec r on and will soon be catless with a decent ECU. Shouldn't effect the lifespan of the engine much at all (tranny maybe). It's all about tasteful tuning. Either way, handles like a dream right now with lowering springs and antiroll bars and sounds quite nice.

My advise is do a bunch of slides with the sti then get some new tires, the stock ones are eh

nothing wrong with gunning it once in a while. I've heard of wrx/sti engines lasting up to 200k or so miles. Maintain regularly, let it warm up, cool down, etc before driving it hard at all (I personally let the car sit about 30 seconds before I even debate moving it then when I do so I don't go past 3000rpm til the engine is at proper temp. From there even if I don't go hard at all when I park the car I let it idle for at least a minute before I turn it off again, letting the turbo cooldown

also, don't stop it when cold, meaning don't just move it up and down your driveway. Do things like that and get high enough octane fuel (I don't go below 93) and it should last. Plus, since people crash these things a lot (unfortunately :(...) you can find a good bit of wrx/sti engines and transmissions for pretty cheap from wrecked cars that have like 60k miles and you start over again

about 102k, I figure I baby it pretty well so it should last a good while and once it dies I'll throw in an STI engine/tranny (+ install should cost me about 2800, or if i do it myself about 2000) that has 60k miles on it and start over :D

I did an accelerometer dyno test and it showed 220 horsepower to the wheels so the engine is still kicking quite hard. Harder than most new ones actually lol
