Thanks bro. I still stand by my opinions. I do not like this march, and the orchestration of it in this video is still terrible. Have a good one though.
You can't always expect the music to sink to your level.
Sometimes you yourself must rise up. This is the band from the Frisell CD 'Have A Little Faith', one of the great recordings of the 1990's. I was privileged to see this band in person.
It's personal taste. I don't like the march (and I've played hundreds). I also don't like the the timbres in this video; they're 'cheesy' in my opinion. Call me a purist or whatever it may be, but that is just my opinion.
@jsteuernol Hi I just signed in to you tube and saw this video. You are an ignorant fuck . You should keep your thoughts to yourself and stop making an ass of yourself, really.
BTW, I'm 99% sure that's clarinet innovator Don Byron in the band. He does his own quirky projects with hip musicians playing all sorts of non-standard tunes. Perfect recruit for this project.
Frisell spoke about this piece in an interview back then. He started on clarinet himself, before he ever played guitar, and just thought he'd like to see how it would sound to improvise a lead guitar line over one of the marching band tunes he'd learned in high school.
really well done-captivating-

So cool and "un-ironic" in the care they give to the performance. Love it!
The clarinet is playing insane high notes. But with intonation and tone too.

And just when I thought a terrible march could not get any worse... I see this.

That's a quite ambiguous statement.

Pretty amusing result.
