What matters is that you have the demeanor of a Muslims and you are sincere in your intention to practice right conduct. I've been to Muslim countries and sisters don't wear garments properly either... and they were born into Islam! This sister is going forward! Im A Black man who lives on the S.side of Chicago so yes Im very familiar with our past and CURRENT condition.But see I dont compare myself or my Asiatic sisters 2 what arabs may or may not be doing for they dont set the tone for whats exceptable in islam. when Allah revealed the surah for hijab those with the prophet started ripping up curtains or anything they could find in order 2 b in accordance(shahid-muslim).so b cuz we reach a certain point of growth does that mean we sld stop striving?

I'm glad you agree that Arabs don't set the tone for acceptability, but most Muslims are so concerned about the physical garments that they overlook the spiritual garments of the person. I'm tired of hearing stuff like, "Brother ain't wearing a beard... sister ain't wearing the niqaab/ hijab." It's sickening. Muslims are being slaughtered and Islam is being assailed day and night around the world and we are discussing this? If anyone lays a hand on this sister... may Allah help them.

Well we Africans did put our women on pedestal. That's why African cultures and civilization could make the women a god because who she is as person. Shes mother teacher chef healer and etc. Without the women none of us would be here and Africans understood this concept. I like how you speak for all of Africa. There are so many different cultures from country to country, from tribe to tribe. They did not all put women on a pedestal. And how about the ongoing problem of female circumcision in traditional African tribes. Are they respecting women? NO! You can't blame outside religions for that.

First I don't trust outsiders to tell me about me about African cultures especially about the past 700yrs to the present. Whites when they went around raping stealing and killing non whites in the name god where labeling and calling the non whites savages primitive barbaric and etc. History and facts shows that white Europeans were savages primitive barbaric and etc.When you lay down with dogs you come up with fleas. lol... you had no answer to that! My point proven! Female circumcision is just one of the many oppressive things African culture does to keep women down. Just look at the bush men tribes of the Kalahari, the women do all the hard labor and do the cooking and the men do literally NOTHING but sit on their ass all day!.
