My 05 has the same noise. I hope it's something as simple as a rubber stopper. I purchased this car new in 05 but it's been nothing but a disappointed in the mechanical category....
OMG, kids today, just stuff rags in the high spots, till it stops rattling! o.O
LMAO I swear nobody knows how to fix anything any more, you are all doomed when the grid goes down! (the preceding rant may have a discernable bit of tongue-in-cheek wry humor)
What a dillweed, We have a 2005, and 2 2008 xb as well as a tC and an xD and only the 05' had this problem and it presented itself after about 3 months we brought it to the dealer and in 15 minutes we drove it home and never had the problem again. They said it was exactly what eveyone else here is saying. The hood was not adjusted or was knocked out of adjustment. I will go by the second one since it started right after being struck in the hood by a tree branch thanks to hurricane Wilma.
I've never seen this issue before and I have an 06.5. My guess is that its probably the front latch or the hinges where you show yourself pressing down on. Either way its an 06 and you have a warranty... take it a dealership and have them fix it.
I did bring it in to the service department. They said it was operating normally. I don't think they ran the car long enough to hear it rattling. That's why I made this video.

its a rubber stop under the hood close to the front grill, needs to be ajusted up.
all new cars have it.
it has nothing to do with it being a toyota.

I think its just either the rubber between your hood and what ever, or your rubber is just not there.Hopes this helps.

If you adjust the little rubber feet under the hood, the rattle will stop...
