This may be one of my all time favorite songs and definitely one of my all time favorite songwriters! What a talent... What an incredible human being.

this is one powerful song...I too had been inspired by my Dad as a kid to play the guitar...although I switched from Classical to Rock...he was still happ and proud when we (my band) pluggedn up and played...he passed away in '95...but I've kept it up and also have a song for him- thanks Vince for inspiring us all to keep pickin'.
Vince Gill will be on tour from August 18, 2008 through November 24, 2008. This tour is billed as "An Acoustical Evening" along with only a pianist and percussionist....the venues range from County Fairs, to Amphitheaters to the Grand Ole Opry...
Good call!!! It was the CMA's in Sept of 1998... 10 years...WOW, time flies!!! It was the same night Elvis was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on the show...

It's been 13yrs since I lost my dad but, sometimes it feels like it was yesterday. I love this song.

I think that was the year his father passed away, so the song was & remains poignant. He did cry at he end of that song
