PSU is now 17-16 vs the SEC. BTW, I should point out that most losses against Alabama came against Bear Bryant. Joe Paterno is 1-4 vs Bear Bryant. In the post-Bear era, Joe Paterno is 4-4 vs Alabama. It wasn't Alabama that owned Penn State, it was Bear Bryant. Kind of how Lloyd Carr owned Penn State, now that he's gone, Penn State has outscored Michigan 81-27 the past two years.

tOSU has problems, but Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan and Iowa have all been very successful vs. the "great" SEC. Outside the SEC's top two teams, they are nothing special. Teams like South Car., Auburn, Ole Miss, Arky, etc. don't scare anyone.

You can't just look at the SEC vs Ohio State and your 11-7-3 record vs the Buckeyes like you often do when saying the SEC is better than the Big Ten. BTW, you're lucky that Northwestern's kicker got hurt, since the Wildcats (who lost to SYRACUSE) outplayed Auburn all game. The Big 10 looked good in bowls this last year, even Michigan State put up a good show against Texas Tech (Big XII).

Auburn did not lead comfortably throughout most of the game, they briefly enjoyed a 21-7 lead, as it was only 14-7 most of the first half, but in the third quarter, Northwestern ate up the lead and made it 21-21, then the fourth quarter was a see-saw. I could argue that Northwestern was cocky and only took Auburn seriously when they trailed, but that kind of stuff is speculation. Truth is, NW kicks the OT FG, they likely go on to win.

Most teams fall apart when backed up near their own end zone.

Tennessee was better than their record coming into the game. They lost by a point to the eventual national champs (Florida), lost by 4 to LSU on a late TD, and then to a tough Arkansas team. Penn State needed to play a near-perfect game to win and they did. Morelli played his best game as a Lion, Hunt pounded their D into submission, our defense shut them down, and we didn't commit a turnover. Solid win for PSU.

A spread offense works great with a mobile quarterback, agile, speedy recievers, and a great defense since the spread is a quick-strike offense. Some times like Michigan, though, look ridiculous trying to run it.

They did blow out Michigan State, but Ohio State always does good against one-dimensional teams like Minnesota and Michigan State. Spread offenses like Penn State and Illinois really confuse them as we've seen. But I agree that it should be a great game, closer than the score, but we should put it away late in the 4th.
