  • Our prayers are with Mr Haggard,,,Get well soon!!

  • I love this!! They don't make them like this any more!!

  • The Hag is in hospital in GA. Pray for him! He will never be replaced-- ever.

  • @ugotitpunk hey, whats up. ITS YOU!

  • one of the greatest country songs EVER!

  • I really think this is Willie at his very best.

  • BREATH AS HARD AS KEROSENE. WORD.

  • I like how assholes that don't know a dammed thing about something can really fuck it up when they try to comment about things. 1) Pancho Villa was a Mexican Revolutionary Leader in a couple of different Mexican Revolutions, and he was killed in 1917 not a Bandit as the United States Government branded him, after the Columbus N.M. raid. 2) He was not a Robin Hood Bandit in the 1880s, 3) And he and his followers where big on killing catholic priests every chance that they got. (check it out)

  • ((((((APPLAUDS))))))

  • I've lived on the Arizona-Mexico border for the past 20 years and my great grandfather was Border Patrol in south Texas. You can't keep the outlaws from crossing the border; my friends and I have done it plenty of times

  • @sevenfingers2001 Keep up the good work with keeping the dirtbags from coming north. Its so sad that we allow such bullshit to continue and then on top of it we make it hard for the ones who want to come here to assimilate and become American.

  • Hey dumbshit, don't you know we're all human beings and all evolved from bacteria that lived 4 billion years ago. That means that you're a mut as much as anyone and probably are the great great grandson of hitler, but just because luck makes you born one way or another doesn't make you dirt. To have the misfortune of being born poor in a third world country is not something one should be kicked and killed for. Those who risk their lives because they are so desperate should be welcomed.

  • @yofi01 I agree with you, but we have to foot the bill for what the illegals are getting away with. If you give to everyone and everything how is your own quality of life going to suffer? Natural selection is a part of life.

  • I see your point. But my follow-up question would be, what do we owe the illegals if natural selection is wrong and progress is the order of the day.

  • JEEZ...nice montage and all but that is waylon jennings...not merle.

  • its about brothers

  • This song makes sense if you actually listen to it it's about and old western out law name poncho villa who stole money from the rich to give to the poor people of his country and the song says he met his match because he was killed by the police in the 1880s and I know all this because my great great grandpa ride with poncho

  • @DexterDinosaur I lived in Deming NM and Palomas where Villa made his raid across the US border.... you are full of wishful thinking !

  • Awesome Song! My Favorite!

  • A wonderful piece of music -- awesome voices -- just GREAT music. Long live Merle and Willie!

  • Who sings the song sweet home Virginia?

  • @DIJV79 I'm not sure which song you are talking about, but their is a song about West Virginia that is similar to your description.

It's called "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver.

  • @DIJV79 Sweet Home Alabama?

  • WOW! People in Fiji love American country music, the best music of all time.

  • This song always brings a tear to my eye. Though, I would never admit to it. What a great song.

  • This was the first song I played at the bar my granddad took me to when I was a kid.We went and played every friday night he was alive, and this was the last song we ended up playing before he passed some years later.

  • MY Brothers :(

  • This song is such a reminder of my brothers

  • omg, how could you not love this song. especially the Mandoline that comes in. mmmm mmm mmmm xo

  • This is such a great song..When I was younger I always thought Lefty was trying to help Pancho..now I know the saddness of Lefty betraying Pancho

  • Yay! Two awesome musicians, one fantastic song!

  • I love this song. It reminds me of my Mum cuz we used to sing it in the car :( she's gone now, but i still sing it. I wish she could too.

  • Heard Hoyt Axton sing it in 1977 for the first time and always loved it. So surprised when Merle and Willie did it and it became such a hit for them! Enjoy it every time I hear it!

  • love this song

  • Wow...I haven't heard that song in at least 20 years (I'm 28 now) and I still find myself singing along like I heard it yesterday....Great song and great memories of my father.

  • Amazing song!

  • One of the best songs of all time

  • Im so excstatic..I can barely sit...cause i got a date with Willie..at his concert TOMORO NIGHT!! :)

  • I'm pretty sure Townes inspiration was a few Lefty handed cigarettes

  • why cant we just accept that its a good song and not worry about Pancho Villa? i mean this is great inspirational and classic music! why do we have to complicate it with retarded arguments like this?

  • and those federales cried.

  • Great song but the intro is awful.

  • @NewsDenizen Agree about the intro 100%. Whose idea was that?

  • @NewsDenizen Agreed- it seems so wrong with the feel of the rest of the song-kinda spoils it for me

  • According to legend, Pancho Villa did in fact have a friend whose name in spanish meant 'Lefty'. Unfortunately, it's more of a coincidence than anything since Villa was assassinated politically.

  • the question is who doesn't know where Lefty got the bread?

  • Great music !!

  • Has anyone ever seen willie nelson young? hes like larry king. Looks like they were born 60 years old. Love his music though!

  • what is this song about?is it about 2 outlaws?i like it but i don't understand it:)

  • @kevinjlove Song is about the mexican outlaw Pancho Villa. Wikipedia him.

  • @Grummur Actually look up the song itself. It was coincidence when Van Zandt wrote the song, he states it in the interview that he had no intention of the song being about Pancho Villa. So therefor, its not about Pancho Villa, sorry man but the song writer his ownself stated so.

  • @Suidakkra Townes was also known for telling "tall tales"; ie bullshitting during interviews.

  • @Looter246 - Actually, in the interview he said that the song was an inspiration and that he had no idea who the people were, it was if Townes was simply a vehicle for channeling the song. He had no idea who it was about, but that he didn't rule out Pancho Villa as the source of his inspiration. In fact, Townes references that Pancho had a friend named Lefty in Spanish. Anyway you look at it, it is a great, evocative song.

  • this song makes me want to cry:( it's very good though:)

  • awesome songg. listin to it when ur high its sooooo amazZZiinggg!!! ehbhhhhhhhh!!!

  • You cant see it. But im giving the computer a standing applause.

    Brovo Brovo!!!

  • i only wish merle sang more, but it's a great song

  • This studio version is great..Their live performances never have lived up to this quality IMHO. Love this song!

  • Big ups to Townes for writing a beautiful song. Thanks to Willy and Merle for making it immortal.

  • Today I started loving you again!!

  • Thanks for giving the real history of the song in the description. I had always heard it was about Pancho Villa, but knew historically that it didn't make any sense.

  • great song...

  • Nothing like Pancho and Lefty...I grew up with them and I am from Boston (Dad is from San Antonio - Mexican....Mum is Boston Irish)!

  • good vid.

  • rad! I saw Willie the summer before last in Eugene OR,

  • OMG this was one of my Dads favourite songs!
