  • I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (April 10, Lent 5), this was our Old Testament Lesson for the Day.

  • @mkl62 Very nice! Thanks for sharing! It's a very moving text even if it is taken clearly out of context most of the time. We can use the literature the way we need to . Kind regards to you and I hope you watch only the videos you like. :0)

  • @wayman29 There is more to this Scripture from my church. Several years back, this was the Old Testament Lesson for The Day of Pentecost. Our pastor at the time based his sermon on this. It seemed that some members didn't want to do this or that, so he said when that happened, he saw dried white bones. Needless to say, that didn't go over too well. And our members still remember that sermon.

  • This prophecy was fulfilled in the Book of Acts (chapter 1&2) when the Jews whom God gathered from all the nations were in Jerusalem when The Holy Spirit was given to them and they were empowered to share salvation to all the gentile nations - Notice the prophecy says that Israel was saying 11 "behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our HOPE is lost." The salvation through Jesus IS the HOPE - this is in conjunction with Daniel 12:2 - Please watch my video The 144,000

  • beautyful.

  • What if people are cremated NO dry bones?

  • Excellent !

  • The nation of Israel (10 northern tribes) are in exile. They don't know who they are. They don't know they are descended from Jacob. Sometime in the near future they will know, and will be restored. The two houses will be rejoined. This is the two sticks joining together.

  • The 10 northern tribes ARE NO MORE. They have been mixed with so many other nationalities. Can you not see that this is the Church? ONE KINGDOM,ONE KING!

  • So cool to see wayman, squit, and bark hanging out together! You too phil - your reading conveys the power of great literature.

Which is harder: Returning from exile, or emerging from dust?

  • Emerging from dust in Exile. Thanks for your comment on this video and the other. You have been most kind and helpful. Thanks for watching whether you happen to agree or not. you opinion is most welcome.

  • I think it depends on the context: on Earth alone, coming home from exile would be the hardest. In the context of eternity, emerging from dust is greater. No one can do that or make that happen except God.

  • actually, my initial "question" was really just a stab at interpretation. I could have stated it less cryptically:

"Surely, the Creator who brought us into being can be trusted not to let us rot forever in captivity."

  • Wayman,

Thanks for the props to me. And thanks for the scripture reading. You ysed a word, tanuck, I think it was. Is that a translation of the bible? I vaguely remember having heard it, but I'm not sure what it is...

    ~Phil

  • Tanakh is the Jewish Old Testament. This is the Jewish Publication Society 1984 version and is my favorite translation. You can find more by googling it when you have the time. Take care! :0)

  • Thanks.

  • good stuff man.

  • I'd like to venture a question here with respect to this scripture--

Do you, Wayman29, believe in a literal, universal, resurrection?

And what do you find most beautiful about those passages?

  • Is this a Biblical view of reincarnation?

  • No,I don't think so at the moment. This is possibly one of the first textual examples of early ressruction theology in Judaism.
