do you realize that pigs are highly intelligent animals? Yet, no one seems to care about eating them. If you went to India and asked for a steak, you'd probably get slapped because, in their culture, cows are sacred. This is just culture difference. You can't condemn this if you eat factory farmed meat where the animals never see the sun, live in their own poo and are killed brutally. THAT is the reality. For those of you who say that killing farm animals are different & are killed nicely, I'd challenge you to take a look at footage of factory farms. Broiler chickens are shoved into disguistingly tiny cages, pumped with antibiotics&hormones to prevent them from getting ill due to living in their own poo & walking over others who have deceased. And 'Smithfields foods' kill 18,000 pigs a day...you think they kill them all nicely? They've been filmed brutalizing pigs. They even admit they slip up!

People need to take the needle out of their own eye before criticizing this...inside a factory farm behind the closed doors is one of the most appauling and disturbing thing you will ever see. Long gone are the days of the small family farm. Animals are kept in terrible conditions, pumped with steroids, are tortured and often fully conscious at death. Yes, people will say "not every slaughter house does that!" well, the same logic applies here: not all Japanese kill dolphins inhumanely, either.

Firstly, sea mammal hunting in Japan goes back to 660BC, way before any western nation exist. Its a deep rooted culture, and to call it barbaric its a ignorant behaviour to this long tradition. Traditions are an identity of their culture, and to accuse a culture of backwardness and barbaric, its a sign of total ignorance and arrogance.

Babies and mothers were never killed.

Because the surfer crew who paddled out are ocean going people, that is why they chose to help this particular issue. Surfers and ocean lovers see whales and dolphins all the time so they are naturally close to our hearts. I sea kayak and see these dolphins all of the time up close and touch them. They are very friendly and will follow you with interest. No way should they be harmed. NO WAY. When we go sailing the dolphins always follow us close with the waves.
