errrrm no, this is '51 in the game, in our time line the ww2 ended in '46. Well, actually several different times in '45 but by '46 the last of them had surrendered.

Anyway, I don't know a whole lot about the game, but I suspect that they are some sort of techno advanced aliens and that during much of the game, grabbing a dead alien's weapon because its either better or way more badass looking, is the thing to do. Also, yes, we've had 'osprey' like aircraft on the drawing boards for a long while.

at the end of the game if you listen to the movie you wipe the chimera out of london they talk about clearing out all of england and finding survivors and how the battle for england was over but the rest of the world still needs saving. + in resistance to sargent nathen joins a group of soldiers taht all have a "resistance" to the chimera gean hense Resistance 2. not fall of man and america is weaker at the beginning of the game so the stroy takes place with a chimeran surpirse attack on the us

"Nathen Hale" is so special because he was infected by the virus but unlike anyone else he didnt show much signs of transformation.

The secret weapon is a virus called the "chemera" it is deployed by missiles called "spires" by "Goliaths" (walking robot things of doom that are largly bigger than the "Stalkers" but they look the same). The virus is carried by scarab-looking insects that crawl into the bodies of humans and infect them, slowly turning them into alien like creatures.(I completed this game lol) =)

Because the Chimera's metabolism is so great, they overheat rapidly (the thing implated on their backs is a cooling device). Africa would of been far too hot for them to survive, even with their cooling devices.

The secret "weapon" is actually an Chimeran Angel captured by British forces. The atom bomb hasn't been invented yet, as a long period of peace negated it's development, I would imagine.

The Chimeran Angel is the highest life-form of Chimera. It's sort of looks like... do you remember Chaos, the boss-character from Sonic Adventure? They look a bit like that.

They control all other Chimeran forces, and don't really have any attacking capabilities, but maintain a telepathic link with all Chimera within a certain radius. Without this link, the Chimera die.
