And I really don't think they sound all that similar. Just wanted to make some corrections because Anastasia is one of my favorite childhood movies! :)
you should do a video where you freestyle or i'mprov on your own cello man. i have a cello but i don't have enough strings and i can't play it. If anyone would like to buy a gently used cello then hit me up on a message.!?! i have rozzen!
People seem surprised that this is improvised. People who are very familiar with the classical repertoire and their respective instruments do this stuff. It's great fun. Good job guys!
Anastasia was done by FOX not Disney. Just wanted to correct the mistake. The music doesn't sound like the song you say, but no matter what it sounds like, these are both talented musicians.
this is amazing... i love how the piano takes controle then the cello takes over and visa versa, one of the best modern pieces i have heard in my 23 years of being part of this race...
Kamel.. I'm speechless at your talent!! You are amazing!! I am so honored to have been part of your life, even if you don't remembrer it.. (a friend of your from Boston, MA)
Thank you. I am yet to find a cellist that I can improvise with like Greg. His ear hears the future. Funny we have better conversations with music than in person. I have to find all our other tapes and post. THANK YOU again WaterPhoenix1516. Kamel
man i'd love to improvise/jam sometime with u guys! while my main instrument is the piano, i play clarinet and guitar as well, so i think it'd be pretty awesome
Thank you so much to everyone who listened to this. Greg is a ridiculous talent - I have never improvised with anyone like him. But I think this particular one surprised us both. It was right after I played the Seguidilla from Carmen with a singer, and Greg got this inspiration from it. I'll for our other videos and post. Thanks all again.
That's great! Its almost as if you guys could communicate in your head to know when to do this and what not and supposedly not even have a foreknowledge of the general direction of the song. Nice, though.
I invented a new way to create music and I like the idea to improvising classic style as you do I'd like if you go and listen my invention to create different kind of music from an original one I will appreciate your point of you as true musicians if you clik on corriamo you will find your self in my youtube page making the scrolling of my different video all mine and with original music of mine you will find the secret of my invention to make a new codification of the music in our days
For those of you that don't think it's improv... you're silly. The more you practice improve - the better you get at it. Also, the more you practice with a certain person, the better you both become.
After a while - it DOES get to be like reading someones mind!
actually, after years of playing with the person, you can ''read'' his/her mind while both play, their style becomes similar and so they can play good music from nowhere. I learned this myself after playing for 3 years with this girl, we both became familiar with the music we liked and we can ''read'' our minds while improvising and make rally nice music.
you should try if you're a musician, and it can be alot of fun to do
I see some communication going on that's seems more than just ears and musical instincts. It's a great piece though. The ending and the beginning definitely sounded more improved than the rest. Awesome.
interesting. my brother and I have done many improvisations for violin and piano and I know it is rare indeed when the parts come together for the whole thing. mainly what you have is a lot of cacophony interspersed by moments of lucidity where we would come together. the only thing we would decide up front was the key. nicely done.
i thought it was quite good, exciting because its unpredictable! well done!! :) p.s im 16 and i dont just like modern 'crap' like so many ppl seem to think all youngsters are into grr it annoys me!! neway... xxx
Fantastic, I can here influences from Eric Satie piano music and Chopin Nocturnes. Then towards the end Rachmaninov decides to crash in. Lovely piece with a strong theme. The Cello is being played with such flare! :-)
To those who think it's fake: these musicians are not even real. It's CGI. If you look real close, it's all pixelated. In fact, you are not even reading this comment, because it has not been written yet. To the musicians: excellent work.
here's a secret of execution, the pianist just has good technique which in this case means he is released with the unused part of his hand youtube also seems to miss frames in a slower connection and you wont see the deftness of the good musician's motion in that case, especially when it is surrounded by stillness and calm.
You idiotic people obviously dont play music because you can tell their playing and you dont use you left hand as much because its the deep tones.....ass-hat
yo the guy really uses his left hand to press down the keys...i dont think its fake...he just does it really fast...but the cello guy is all real...he is good...wish i can play the cello like that...
It's a shame...the music is beautiful...but after examining the video, even parts where them music was clearly forte if not fortissimo, the left hand of the piano (very distinct in sound) didn't actually depress the keys. If the violin was also faking, it was much better. The music though, lovely.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Absolute bullshit. This is fake. It is not being played at all. I'm not sure about the cello player but the pianist definitely not playing. Look at his left hand. They are not pressing down the notes. Ugh.. I hate when people do this.
why does the pianist have sheet music on the piano if no music is used, or is the cello the only improv portion of the video? maybe i am confused...but the first line of the description is 'No sheet music, no chord charts.'
This improvisation happened at the end of a concert where sheet music was used. The sheet music on Kamel's piano was from a piece we had played earlier in the concert. If you notice on the left side of the movie, I have a music stand as well, but I'm not looking at it. I'm looking right at Kamel.

It has a mixture of a waltz, kinda like My Favorite Things from Sound of Music and it has a Batovan Chopin, Trivolsky flar to it. Very nice, I love the cello part. Perfect pitzicto and nice bow moves.
