  • Really cool... congrats!

  • Nice jammin' guys !

  • Never the less they are talented ....thumbs up !

  • rhubarb, if prepared incorrectly can be poisonous

  • if its imrpovised then why is ther music and stand/. o-o

  • @MissLovelyPie The music on the stand was from the opera 'Carmen.' We improvised this piece after performing that one.

  • @michaellerandtoast never saw the film, alas

    -g

  • 1. The song is called "Once Upon A December"

2.The name of the movie is spelled 'Anastasia'

    3. It's by 20th Century Fox, not Disney.

And I really don't think they sound all that similar. Just wanted to make some corrections because Anastasia is one of my favorite childhood movies! :)

  • THAT'S REAL MUSIC!!!!

  • GORGEOUS!!!

  • My audio apertures are pierced with joy and delight. Thank you, both.

  • i play cello & piano

  • Amazing music

  • how can anyone dislike this? you must live in a cave..... but if i lived in a cave this would be sunshine....and I love it.....

  • Fantastic playing and fantastic music, well done from a fellow classical pianist.

  • great ears

  • you should do a video where you freestyle or i'mprov on your own cello man. i have a cello but i don't have enough strings and i can't play it. If anyone would like to buy a gently used cello then hit me up on a message.!?! i have rozzen!

  • People seem surprised that this is improvised. People who are very familiar with the classical repertoire and their respective instruments do this stuff. It's great fun. Good job guys!

  • it would be nice to make a sheet music of this, It could become a scholar cello piece, isn't it? ;D

  • That was pretty nifty...

  • Nice !

  • Surely an improvised song... it's "Once upon a time in December" from the Disney movie Anastacia.

  • Just listened to that song. Not the same, but I see where you'd find similarities in the time-feel and vibe.

  • @dardilio

Anastasia was done by FOX not Disney. Just wanted to correct the mistake. The music doesn't sound like the song you say, but no matter what it sounds like, these are both talented musicians.

  • @dardilio Anastacia is not from Disney

  • Two of my favorites, nice job guys!

  • sooo gooooood

  • fake or not, I love this piece. Truly talented!!

  • you guys jam, that was freaking siiick!

  • I play the cello, but no where near as well

  • this is spiritually lifting

  • @abdolicious lol

  • this is amazing... i love how the piano takes controle then the cello takes over and visa versa, one of the best modern pieces i have heard in my 23 years of being part of this race...

  • This is lovely

  • Wow, amazing work!! I love the Cello!!

  • Kamel.. I'm speechless at your talent!! You are amazing!! I am so honored to have been part of your life, even if you don't remembrer it.. (a friend of your from Boston, MA)

  • well hello there! who's that guy on the cello? he's so cute! ;)

  • I'm stuned, this is beautiful. Please, please, have more like this one. :)

  • Thank you. I am yet to find a cellist that I can improvise with like Greg. His ear hears the future. Funny we have better conversations with music than in person. I have to find all our other tapes and post. THANK YOU again WaterPhoenix1516. Kamel

  • it's a bit tame...

get a guitar guy and a drummer with it.

and do not spare your piano, hit the keys harder.

  • flawles... excellent...

  • i dont play any instruments but i'd like to someday. for now i like listenin' to this type of stuff a whole lot

  • ohh maaan <3

  • man i'd love to improvise/jam sometime with u guys! while my main instrument is the piano, i play clarinet and guitar as well, so i think it'd be pretty awesome

  • Fantastic! You are both master musicians!

  • great piano solo on maxkingworld on youtube

  • Love you.

  • oh so good!

  • finally some actually music. im tired of hearing rap crap

  • wow

  • beautiful...

  • Wow, this takes a lot of talent, respect, i really enjoyed listening.

  • I like it, but if there is no music then what is in front of the pianist?

  • A piano?

  • papeles que nunca leyó mientras tocada?

  • lovely!!!

  • I love it, i think its great you both improvise, it fits together great, well done guys.

  • Thank you so much to everyone who listened to this. Greg is a ridiculous talent - I have never improvised with anyone like him. But I think this particular one surprised us both. It was right after I played the Seguidilla from Carmen with a singer, and Greg got this inspiration from it. I'll for our other videos and post. Thanks all again.

  • That's great! Its almost as if you guys could communicate in your head to know when to do this and what not and supposedly not even have a foreknowledge of the general direction of the song. Nice, though.

  • awesome

  • this is so cool

    great music

  • beautiful

  • I invented a new way to create music and I like the idea to improvising classic style as you do I'd like if you go and listen my invention to create different kind of music from an original one I will appreciate your point of you as true musicians if you clik on corriamo you will find your self in my youtube page making the scrolling of my different video all mine and with original music of mine you will find the secret of my invention to make a new codification of the music in our days

  • Man! just by ear! are you serious! thats incredible and beautiful!!! keep it up. you got a new fan :)

  • true artists.

  • Wonderful!

  • Not too shabby.

  • This is incredible. I'm hooked. :]

  • Wow, you guys are awesome, are you singing in concerts soon? (You should. P.S, keep it up, and I think you are)

  • Beautiful.

  • Wow that is really nice

  • Never gets tiring, always nice listening to this improv. Very beautiful, good job.

  • i love classical music.

  • i love classical!

  • very nice...

  • This is scary...good!

  • wow! listening and watching this was an awesome experience! i wish to do more improv myself.

  • This is pretty awesome.

For those of you that don't think it's improv... you're silly. The more you practice improve - the better you get at it. Also, the more you practice with a certain person, the better you both become.

After a while - it DOES get to be like reading someones mind!

  • there's no way they are improvising this unless they can read each others' minds.

  • actually, after years of playing with the person, you can ''read'' his/her mind while both play, their style becomes similar and so they can play good music from nowhere. I learned this myself after playing for 3 years with this girl, we both became familiar with the music we liked and we can ''read'' our minds while improvising and make rally nice music.

you should try if you're a musician, and it can be alot of fun to do

ohh, and by the way, good observation ^_^

  • GO TO "amelie remix orpheus". ONE OF THE BEST MELODIC TRACKS!!! LISTEN TO THE END..

  • A nice site for music sheets :all-music-sheets@com

  • Very good! This is a very neat song.

  • neat :)

  • kl congrats

  • wow. that is awesome. i would actually love if you made sheet music for this because i am also a cellist and would love to play this song.

  • go cellists i agree make sheet music I WANNA PLAY!!

  • simplay amazing! but wats the sheet music doi non the piano ?

  • Probably from another piece.. But this sounds totally not improvised I have to admit. But even if it wasn't .. It's still great what they do..

  • Nicely Done

  • u r so cool i luv u

  • This is gorgeous. Perfect for a movie score. I love when improvisation is done well...and you both have certainly mastered it!

  • very nice improv! yuo must be truly talented musicians.

  • Since any music is based partly on shared musical ideas, you have been able to understand and musically express those ideas well. Thank You

  • Very nice!

  • Very beautiful!

  • hey kamal boutros, are you lebanese?

  • I LOVE THIS my mom play piano an di play the cello

  • I see some communication going on that's seems more than just ears and musical instincts. It's a great piece though. The ending and the beginning definitely sounded more improved than the rest. Awesome.

  • interesting. my brother and I have done many improvisations for violin and piano and I know it is rare indeed when the parts come together for the whole thing. mainly what you have is a lot of cacophony interspersed by moments of lucidity where we would come together. the only thing we would decide up front was the key. nicely done.

  • there must be at least something like basso cntinuo type score.. no?

    I just can't believe it..

  • MY GOD!

    is this really ALL improvisation?

you guys are both mozarts then..

    very beautiful piece of music..

  • This not classical music.

  • it's really nice =]

  • bom d +

  • figo il violoncellista!

  • beautiful but , its just music there is no sprk too it , both gorgeous muscians

  • OMG! This is soooo good, im kinda in luv with classical music.

  • Same =D

  • great !

  • i thought it was quite good, exciting because its unpredictable! well done!! :) p.s im 16 and i dont just like modern 'crap' like so many ppl seem to think all youngsters are into grr it annoys me!! neway... xxx

  • true music from the soul

  • You are obviously not a musician junibunch... That is VERY difficult to do. Good job guys!! It sounds great!

P.S the cello is sexy....as is the cellist (-:

  • wow! i love the cello impro!

  • beautiful, cosmo!

  • Fantastic, I can here influences from Eric Satie piano music and Chopin Nocturnes. Then towards the end Rachmaninov decides to crash in. Lovely piece with a strong theme. The Cello is being played with such flare! :-)

  • I hope you guys wrote this down after improvising it because it would be a waste of a beautiful song if you did not.

  • Its amazing the piece of art you improvised. Congrats, i hope to see you soon with other songs.

  • i liked it a lot! i play both and can't imagine how you improvise so well!

  • I didn't realize that was in front of an audience.... It was beautiful! I loved it.

  • Thanks Kenny.

  • wow i play both instruments. but more of the cello =) nice work.

  • wow, I've enjoyed! thanks for sharing!

  • who's the composer of this song please eplied and tell me where to find it please people thanks

  • pay attention, it was improvised! which means made up on the spot by the people you see playing it.

  • its improvised

  • Wonderful! I always love the cello piano combination too! Great work! ;)

  • Just because you dont listen to it, doesnt make us Queers. It makes you the Queer.

  • ANYONE KNOWS THE TITLE OF THIS SONG...SEARCH "Grand Prospect Hall" THE VIDEO IS TITLED "Weddings" it's 30 seconds long

  • you're amazing greg.

  • you are all so naif??

if you cant improvise as these guys do is your problem. All comments on "oh, how do they do it" are bullshit!

  • If you think that's actually how you spell naive I think you're the one with a problem.

  • To those who think it's fake: these musicians are not even real. It's CGI. If you look real close, it's all pixelated. In fact, you are not even reading this comment, because it has not been written yet. To the musicians: excellent work.

  • :) kudos for that comment

  • here's a secret of execution, the pianist just has good technique which in this case means he is released with the unused part of his hand youtube also seems to miss frames in a slower connection and you wont see the deftness of the good musician's motion in that case, especially when it is surrounded by stillness and calm.

  • You idiotic people obviously dont play music because you can tell their playing and you dont use you left hand as much because its the deep tones.....ass-hat

  • yo the guy really uses his left hand to press down the keys...i dont think its fake...he just does it really fast...but the cello guy is all real...he is good...wish i can play the cello like that...

  • It's a shame...the music is beautiful...but after examining the video, even parts where them music was clearly forte if not fortissimo, the left hand of the piano (very distinct in sound) didn't actually depress the keys. If the violin was also faking, it was much better. The music though, lovely.

  • yo he only uses his first 3 fingers on the left hand more...thats probably y it looks like hes faking it...

  • Shows what you kow. It was not a violin, but a cello. Pretty basic.

  • That's a cello.

  • Not to keen on the piano part but the cello was excellent.

  • i swear the guy is not even pressing the piano keys????

  • hmmm... nice, rhythmic, idiomatic, great symbiosis.

  • wow you guys are really amazing i wish i had that type of talent

  • brought me to tears. your playing is beautiful.

  • This would make for such a neat piece if you wrote it out. It is soo musical. You guys are Very talented!

  • wow u guys play like angels i love it

  • world needs more of this sort of music! nice

  • why does the pianist have sheet music on the piano if no music is used, or is the cello the only improv portion of the video? maybe i am confused...but the first line of the description is 'No sheet music, no chord charts.'

  • This improvisation happened at the end of a concert where sheet music was used. The sheet music on Kamel's piano was from a piece we had played earlier in the concert. If you notice on the left side of the movie, I have a music stand as well, but I'm not looking at it. I'm looking right at Kamel.

  • Also, if Kamel was reading the sheet music on his stand, he would eventually need to turn the pages. He doesn't.

  • both comments by gumbomasta are well taken - i understand now. btw - the music is beautiful, so i did not mean this as an attack on the music at all. i would love to hear more of this.

  • thats not right, kamel is reading piano music. you can see.

  • It has a mixture of a waltz, kinda like My Favorite Things from Sound of Music and it has a Batovan Chopin, Trivolsky flar to it. Very nice, I love the cello part. Perfect pitzicto and nice bow moves.

  • this is great. I love it

  • Beautiful...

  • amara goy!!! (very good)!!!

  • This is awesome, but I think that the cords and the ideas and frame work were obviously preplanned.

  • I assure you, the piece was not preplanned. we just used our ears to listen to each other, followed where we would go and hoped for the best. We had been playing with each other for a few months by the time we made that video so we had already become familiar with each other musically. For this particular improv, everything seemed fall into place.

    -g

  • i just have a question, who are some people that you listen to for inspiration???

  • WOW!!

  • Invented at the spot,hm,,,,Shure there are a frame and structure preplanned,,chords and idea,,,,,so more of a IPROVISATION on the spot,,,(my idea on the spot)

  • Very nice. I like your style. You both have alot of talent.

  • WOW seriously you should get it published!

  • BRAVO!!

  • Such a beautiful gift. Thank you.

  • that was absolutley beautiful

  • Lovely. :]
