This is inconclusive. He received a sign on bonus in 01/2008 that was worth 48 Million at the time. With the stock plummeting the value of the options in that bonus vanished, possibly resulting in a value of the bonus of about 10 million. So it could well be that he received a base salary of 1M which he mentioned in the video while reuters might have included the sign on bonus.
