I dont think you can say Rachel is the best of the three. Their style is so different - one could see who s the best if they were to dance the absolute same choreography segment next to each other. I d opt for Amar Gamal, but Rachel is for sure very interesting and very snakey.
I think all three of these ladies are lovely dancers. There is absolutely nothing wrong with "american" style dance. Secondly, if I remember correctly (correct me if I'm wrong) but the term "bellydance" was a completely americanized invention from the Chicago World's faire in the Victorian era!
"danse de ventre" was earlier - French colonizers coined this term. It s pretty narrow for the dance, that is why most Arabs are not happy with what the call Eastern/Oriental dance.
Well there is nothing wrong about American style dance as long as it is a. respectful to the heritage keeping in mind it is not one s own and therefore needs to be treated more cautiously than one s own, b. as in literature where the author of an idea is quoted, the same should be done wherever possible with dance.

Bellydance superstars, have the perfection, but for these who really know about the dance, know that dance, is not perfectioc like a machine, is soul is flavor, they have nothing of this, and yeah most of bellydancesuperstars girls are american or asiatic. That people do not have the gift and blessing of the dance.
The Bellydance Superstars cater to a more westernized audience meaning mysterious otherwordly costumes, flashiness, and fusion. It's not any better or worst than authentic middle eastern styles (Egyptian, Turkish, all different as well), but it is different and it's not meant for all audiences. It's a matter of preference.
The Americans got a bad taste of bellydance. Costumes, movements, music, they should look what the egyptian dancer maybe do. The Show is so boring cause it is so "perfect". One of them got a body like a samll girl...where are the hips?..how pity...it is not my tase....and hello! dance has nothing to do with religion (islam...) for you over there you "blueskyfuture"...
Disappointing. The music is too flat to inspire. Numbers of women studying bellydance everywhere from NYC to London is remarkable - that's about as close as they want to get to islam!
I echo what someone else mentioned, true, bellydance has NOTHING to do with islam, it's middle eastern culture - culture and religion are two different things.. for example pakistanis are muslim as well as saudis, pakistanis have their own culture, and saudis have their own, just like that every region in the middle east has a culture that varies slightly, so bellydancing is a cultural practice in certain regions of the middle east.

Rachel Brice is the best technically speaking. Amar Gamal is to rigid and Ansuya is too shaky...
