Ok people should know why these type of games are being compared or rip-off to GOW and I know GOW is not an original game itself. The basic thing is GOW copied stuff from other games but the team who made it took it to a new level of gameplay, they did some innovation and some of their own twists to it but all these other games coming after it has no major change and it is very very similar to GOW. I played alot of games but nothing compares to GOW and I love playing all types of games.

Let me say I never played this game, but I am a big Castlevania fan. In my opinion, Castlevania is at its best in 2D. Im not saying the new 3D Castlevanias are bad though. I wish they would release a Castlevania in 2D for the newer consoles. Its almost like they're afraid to take a 'step back'. Games like Viewtiful Joe, R-Type Final, Little Big Planet, ect. are great side scrolling 2D games.

I played this game....4 times...it was the best hack n' slash / action based adventure roleplaying game I have played ever. And Sure it doesent fit to good with the rest of the castlevania series and it borrowed some elements from other games but it also improved alot of those ideas. and ffs, You dont show the whole cut scene when he uses the crystal power in a reveiw, when I first saw that in-game I was like "holy shiiiit", you dont spoile a moment like that...

This game was great. So what if they got some ideas from newer games, most of those games use ideas Castlevania games developed 20+ years ago. If Bram Stoker was resorrected and started writing horror novels critics would probably be complaining that his new books were to much like Stephen King and Anne Rice, even though he'd just be changing with the times.

I think I agree with poohell, This guy is the pickiest critic I have ever heard. The gameplay mechanic was hardly a rip from the God of War games. The scenery is great, but you cant nit pick at the way the developers made it, this was the first time that the series was handed to someone else. This was made by a Spanish developer not a Japanese one, so you can expect some change, they wanted to make a new game, not another remake.
As for everyone complaining about how God of War sucks and This game sucks and Symphony of the Night was better, seriously grow up, All said games are fantastic, Symphony of the night was a rare branch off from the traditional Castlevania in that it wasnt centered around a Belmont clan member. and God of War is one of the best and one of my favorites in years. Both GoW and Lords of Shadow may have similar tones, they are far different.

I love this game, I have not purchased the doc but the graphics and play style are amazing, I play on xbox and have had ZERO frame issues and my xbox isn't new I would recommend this game to anyone though the game does have its faults such as long pointless puzzles, and very confusing "which way do I go" moments aside I still loved it I give it a 9/10

Off the subject. Just beat the game! Good overall but TOO MANY puzzles! No place for puzzles in an adventure game. Must be at least 20-30 if not more. Complaints about puzzles in game call KONAMI at 310-220-8330. Hopefully the next one has no puzzles or animals stealing our relics/magic.
I don't really like this game... I haven't really gotten into a 3D Castlevania since Lament of Innocence. Curse of Darkness had a fairly good growth system, but it kind of lacked in story...

I don't agree there's a few game types and to make a game great is taking idea that already been establish because there's a great chance you wasn't the first person to thought of it.
It may appear like you come up with something totally new you because of the technology that is available you can make an idea seem brand new because of different element you throw in the mix.

This is the first Castlevania I have ever played & I love it so much! The gorgeous environments,beautiful visuals,terrific animations,lovely soundtracks etc.Ahhh.This game has a charming,joyful & a heavenly feeling,a feeling which is highly lacking in games these days.The only flaw is that the camera is like GOW which I dislike a lot.The camera needed full freedom.To all of you who say this game sucks,you do not know what a 'beautiful'(not awesome) game is..

In SoTN, Alucard got just sword attack and a couple of spells to perform.. story is told through a couple of paragraphs at the beginning, short and cheesy dialogues thrown here and there, and a 30 seconds ending scene. Plus, it wasn't the first side-scroller ever to be made. It was great. This one is just great, too.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is a Reboot of the Franchise, which is why it changes from the Classic Castlevania Games of why it's very different.
Castlevania is a Franchise, but this is there Attempt of Rebooting the Franchise having a new Plot continuing New Adventures.
It takes it from all those games, because those games took it from other games. The whole idea of hack and slash or combos or anything doesn't come from one particular game, it comes from lots of peoples ideas. I wish these assholes would stop saying they stole things.
I'm sorry but this review really sucks. I'm a loyal CV fan but I've played other games like God of War and shadow of collosus and yes it did take some things from SOC but definitely not god of war. You spend too much time degrading the game, instead of speaking about the game in it's better ways. Sure some things were burrowed from other games, but the other games are by far not nearly original games, every game burrows from a different game, nothing is original. So don't put this game down.
@Rulictar No - but God of War had it's own sense of style. I know Devil May Cry was most likely the first game to introduce the style - but God of War uses it in a different way, with attacks giving you chances of fighting enemies from almost all around you with weapons available to swing out, ending with explosive hits down on the ground.
@Rulictar No - you can not swing around weapons far away from you in DMC hitting opponents all around you at once, and you don't use any attacks with your blade that ends with something explosive down to the ground. It's pointless to argue with me about it, son - I own all the games of both franchises... with the exception of DMC2.

What are you complaining about? The review was both praising and critical. There's definitely God of War influence in there. He cites the obvious inspiration from SoTC, but then also says that it's done justice by how they utilize your character's main weapon.

The basic thing is GOW copied stuff from other games but the team who made it took it to a new level of gameplay, they did some innovation and some of their own twists to it but all these other games coming after it has no major change and it is very very similar to GOW. I played alot of games but nothing compares to GOW and I love playing all types of games.

As far as I can recall, there is no Egyptian mythology in the series. Why would there be? It is based on the Greek mythology. Anubis would make no more sense in this context, than Fenrir or Mujaji.

Let me say I never played this game, but I am a big Castlevania fan. In my opinion, Castlevania is at its best in 2D. Im not saying the new 3D Castlevanias are bad though. I wish they would release a Castlevania in 2D for the newer consoles. Its almost like they're afraid to take a 'step back'. Games like Viewtiful Joe, R-Type Final, Little Big Planet, ect. are great side scrolling 2D games.

I played this game....4 times...it was the best hack n' slash / action based adventure roleplaying game I have played ever. And Sure it doesent fit to good with the rest of the castlevania series and it borrowed some elements from other games but it also improved alot of those ideas. and ffs, You dont show the whole cut scene when he uses the crystal power in a reveiw, when I first saw that in-game I was like "holy shiiiit", you dont spoile a moment like that...

I think I agree with poohell, This guy is the pickiest critic I have ever heard. The gameplay mechanic was hardly a rip from the God of War games. The scenery is great, but you cant nit pick at the way the developers made it, this was the first time that the series was handed to someone else. This was made by a Spanish developer not a Japanese one, so you can expect some change, they wanted to make a new game, not another remake.

As for everyone complaining about how God of War sucks and This game sucks and Symphony of the Night was better, seriously grow up, All said games are fantastic, Symphony of the night was a rare branch off from the traditional Castlevania in that it wasnt centered around a Belmont clan member. and God of War is one of the best and one of my favorites in years. Both GoW and Lords of Shadow may have similar tones, they are far different.

I love this game, I have not purchased the doc but the graphics and play style are amazing, I play on xbox and have had ZERO frame issues and my xbox isn't new I would recommend this game to anyone though the game does have its faults such as long pointless puzzles, and very confusing "which way do I go" moments aside I still loved it I give it a 9/10

Off the subject. Just beat the game! Good overall but TOO MANY puzzles! No place for puzzles in an adventure game. Must be at least 20-30 if not more. Complaints about puzzles in game call KONAMI at 310-220-8330. Hopefully the next one has no puzzles or animals stealing our relics/magic.

He says "it's almost a shame that Gabriel runs so fast because there are times necessary to stop and enjoy the grahpics, whatever, lol. Is there a timelimit on this game? I don't agree there's a few game types and to make a game great is taking idea that already been establish because there's a great chance you wasn't the first person to thought of it.
It may appear like you come up with something totally new you because of the technology that is available you can make an idea seem brand new because of different element you throw in the mix.

they're only bashing it because it got ported on xbox from PS. Most, if not all, fans who played the previous Castlevanias are happy with it. So get over it.
In SoTN, Alucard got just sword attack and a couple of spells to perform.. story is told through a couple of paragraphs at the beginning, short and cheesy dialogues thrown here and there, and a 30 seconds ending scene. Plus, it wasn't the first side-scroller ever to be made. It was great. This one is just great, too.

I'm sorry but this review really sucks. I'm a loyal CV fan but I've played other games like God of War and shadow of collosus and yes it did take some things from SOC but definitely not god of war. You spend too much time degrading the game, instead of speaking about the game in it's better ways. Sure some things were burrowed from other games, but the other games are by far not nearly original games, every game burrows from a different game, nothing is original. So don't put this game down.

I know Devil May Cry was most likely the first game to introduce the style - but God of War uses it in a different way, with attacks giving you chances of fighting enemies from almost all around you with weapons available to swing out, ending with explosive hits down on the ground.

The review is only focusing on the games downfall, and if you weren't so ignorant you'd notice that. Maybe once or twice he says something good about the game, but there are plenty of good things he left out, he didn't mind to leave out the bad things tho.
