When you are that low, dont attempt to turn too hard or fast(unless you HAVE power and are crazy). To be at that height when the engine dies is a gift! The easiest way is to turn away from the strip into a long, curving, easily adjustable approach and if you're still too high when you get to finals try some s curves. If you're too low then no problem, just land in the field(a bit gentler:P) Awesome shots though!

Dead stick with LOTS of height over a flying field with acres of close cropped landing strip. Sorry, but I really can't understand where the problem was. Take it round the circuit, a couple of S curves if needed to get it down to the right height, slot it into finals and down on the strip. Why the crash?

That's just piss poor piloting to not be able to come in for a normal dead stick approach when you lose power at such a high altitude! Lucky the only probable damage was the prop and maybe the gear.

I'm simply baffled that with that amount of altitude, airspeed, and position on the field you couldn't nail a perfect 3-pointer on a deadstick approach. Maybe less time doing rolls and more time shooting touch and go's is the answer.

I think you were too concerned about landing on the runway and kept turning round which greatly reduced your airspeed, you need to make a split second decision on your entry and if its too late just find a bit of open area to land in
