  • Great vid,, what was the total time of the build?

  • How did you learn how to do all this? I have gst with the same engine (obvi) and i want to do a lot of work but i just lack the knowledge base. Where did you go to learn this? Or did someone just teach you

  • @rambow70 Do your research. Its all here on the web. The only thing you should really have to get professional help is in the tuning. (also read full product description to make sure its compatible on your engine, if you buy anything)

  • @XxXStellionXxX any links on how to's for a 4g63t? Or just ask a whole bunch of questions on a dsm forum?

  • @rambow70 well when I was looking into the how to's for a 4g63t the engine specific questions I had were already answered on the main DSM forum. Other than that rebuilding the engine is pretty universal.

  • @rambow70 Also if you do commit to any work, also get a good repair manual to help you along. Haynes or Chiltons are major names. The main thing with rebuilding is to make sure you understand and put it in right. Even if it takes more time to recheck and double recheck everything, its worth it.

  • weak!! V8 is much better

  • what are you putting on @ 7:00 ?:)

  • @sormanBMF Balance shaft

  • he pinched his nut off lol

  • Its surprising how many 4G63 motors are used in Clark, Komatsu (and of corse) Mitsubishi forklifts. The three biggest differences are that the industrial 4G63's use dual counter-balance shafts instead of a single, a single overhead cam instead of DOHC's (and of course) aren't turbocharged.

    They are tough little motors.

  • well he never check the oil clearence, timing and the finger on bearing is a big nono in my book oya dint see thurst washer other then that looked good to me hope its still runing and he just let that clips out

  • @MrSmallblocks10 With clean gloves on it wouldnt b a problem.

  • not that min 10 no way so long fix

  • music is annoying

  • spin a bearing yet? shouldn't ever touch bearings with your fingers.... oil from your skin etches em like no other day. sweet video though!!!

  • how long did you build it in real, if I could do this with engine of my car I would do it every year at the beginning of the sprong

  • i thin your boy gots a bad case of crabs or jock itch...! check it out 5:55 min of the video ! hahah

  • damn nice...

  • im a first to do a motor swap and this video just made it look easyer then shit!! Great video

  • just wondering how did u set the timing on it?

  • @TruthLifeLove Haha yeah i love my dsm, don't even look at anything else for a car. And that's what I've heard.

  • how much torque did you put for the crankshafter bedplate and the head?

  • Awesome video, Actually in less then 10 minutes, Must have done it a few times haha.

  • props dude, thanks for making this.

  • What kind of "Spray" do you useing for the seals ? Thanks.. Great video !!

  • @Peter10654 Copper spray, can pick some up at any parts house.

  • very cool video

  • You know, I bet this engine wouldn't even start. I mean who builds and entire engine in 10 minutes and actually has it working? Maybe you shouldn't have rushed, this should have taken HOURS...

  • @illchillkyle Are you that dumb or you just wanted attention? Half the clip is accelarated AND all the preperation was done before-hand. It SURELY has taken a couple of hours.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah those torque readings are gonna be real accurate since the block was moving all over the place.

  • The funny thing is, this song is on youtube.

  • this was in more than ten minutes

  • awesome video!

  • didn't see 2 and 3rd rods get tightened down.

  • didnt check the journal clearance with plastigauge .... this engine will last you a month or two if lucky ....

  • @Red97Avenger Also didnt add the spark plugs wires or oil filter. He didnt show everything. Hate somewhere else dumbass.

  • @Galaron28 your the fucking idiot asshole . do some fucking research before aymore retarded shit leaves your mouth

  • @Red97Avenger ok what should i research? How to avoid dumb fuck assholes such as yourself?

  • @Galaron28 learn why journal clearance is very important on an engine build moron . your just another youtube retard . fuck off

  • @Red97Avenger I never said it wasnt you dumb ass. I said it didnt show everything with building the motor. Learn to read moron.

  • this engine is really not that hard...

  • @BxBaNgEr828 its really not

  • @mitsubishiman1120 yea its jus like the basic neon engine too easy but its a dualie

  • @BxBaNgEr828 yea cuz once u sit down and really take it apart den put it back together it becomes second nature

  • yeah nice job guys

great looking engine, full rebuild, clean as, clean work

  • nut scratch at 5:54....lol

  • @5096192526 LMFAO that shit is funny as hell, cuz it happens

  • What was that spray that he was applying onto the gaskets before slapping them on?

  • @YXPFV that spray is called COPPERCOAT

  • dude that was hot. did you use any guides or anything? im going to be building mine soon. what talon was that going into? a TSI? mine will be going into my '99 GSX. and hopefully itl be a mivec 4g63T =). message me dude. SORRY ABOUT POSTING TWICE I WAS ON SOMEONE ELSES ACCOUNT

  • dude that was hot. did you use any guides or anything? im going to be building mine soon. what talon was that going into? a TSI? mine will be going into my GSX. and hopefully itl be a mivec 4g63T =). message me dude.

  • @Phoenixfiresh You will need a lot of fabrication to put the Mivec 4G63T in a GSX as it sits on the opposite side of the engine bay. I'd like to see it one day though. Good luck.

  • nice engine

  • awesome! I'm jealous

  • Should use way more assembly lube than that and your mistake witht he whole thing was rebuilding a 7 bolt

  • @ptar57 lol 7 bolts are just as reliable once they are rebuilt and the crank walk problem is taken care of with new thrust washers. 7 bolt bottom ends are actually a little stronger because of the girdle....That and you can swap in any year evo rods and pistons

  • awesome build.. post a video of that thing cruising

  • @2.00 what is the guage metering?

  • @barfnz looks to me like he is checking crankshaft endplay

  • I hope you put in your thrust washers! i didnt see em go in!

  • @DJREK90

He used king or acl bearings. The middle main bearing has built in thrust washers. It's part of the bearing.

  • Is there one with the mu=original music.

  • can i borrow your garage? haha

  • CK. OUT E-BAY

    RONS 4G63 GO KART

  • Its a copper spray.

  • cool rebuild 5 stars

what is that you used in the water pump gasket??

    some kind of spray sealer??

    never saw that before

  • hes got Hbeams!!! how much does he plan on running?!?! you can get (short lived but hey) like 500 hp on stock rods and stuff, so hes gonna be WAY out there.

  • Awesome vid, but you should try an d use plastigage next time, just to make sure your clearances are right.

  • a tad bit more complex than my m20b27.

You've done this before i think great job man. Im pretty sure the fastest motor i ever built was a gm 2.2l out of a shit10 it took me like 50 minutes and that thing is pushrod overhead valve lol

  • my rings went so how bout I buy u a plane ticket to rebuild my motor?

  • this guy was smarter than me lol i put my big 16g on with the engine still in the car pain in my ars.. ha

  • you should re upload this with the audio again f*ck copyright!

  • what is being done between 2:22 and 2:50? thanks

  • He's setting the ring gap. first he squares the ring using a piston then measures it with a feeler gauge. then he files it for the proper gap.

  • oh right on thank you

  • love that lil engine. my favorite 4 cyl ever made.

  • 5:55 Herpies?

i know the car pulls some ass but damn wear a rubber dude!

  • LMFAO his buddy at 5:55 in the background is scratching his nuts while the other kid sticks out his tongue hilarious ....nice build vid tho good job

  • forged pistons right?

  • i just noticed that i dont think they put oil in the crank parts like they supposed to// or did they do it?

  • Whats he doing at 2:38 ? Grinding the ring?

  • yea. i believe thats wut he's doing. lol. i donlt think you supposed to do that unless you what you doing. but useually the rings already come with the right gapping and all.

  • this is like 24hrs in 10mins. lol. damn for me i take like a dday and half on my own, doing presice messurements and all. he had help there. but good job thou. i give you props for building a fully built motor. i love doing this. got honers and a patch for engine rebuild in sckool. other than that i just passed every class. lol.

  • how much can that block handle?

  • if hes doing a fully built forge internals he could be pushing more than 500whp

  • NiCE!!!

could u give me a tip how to upgrade my engine??Also 4g63...

  • ur car is 4g63 or 4g63t?

  • 4g63 is the motor... the t at the end means turbo

and you saw him putting the turbo in the video.

  • What is he lubing the main bearings with?

  • assembly lube

  • awesome video helped alot lol thanks

  • dope video bro

  • Awesome video. It is Favorited. I used Itunes for the music, lol.

  • 5:55 lol

great build, man i always wanted to do something like this.

  • too bad there's no audio :(

    but brilliant vid m8!!!

  • you miss something impot 4 the engine but its ok not too bad

  • mint video

  • OMG!!!! seriously YouTube? your going to disable sound for something over some copyright crap that nobody makes money on! everybody seriously needs to boycott YouTube untill they unfuck-up this site.

  • It's not Youtube, it's that idiots over at WMG that are anal about putting their music up. Youtube by law has to comply.

  • Which is gay! I buy my music, I have rights to use it!

  • 4G63's and JT paintball=WIN.

  • nice clip bt disappointed with youtube for taking out the sound

  • nice video guys! that wasn't even 10 minutes ;)

i agree, youtube is on the brink to its downfall

  • WTF youtube?!?!?! I liked the music with this video. Youtube is getting gayer and gayer by the months. Those asshole licking dick farts

  • This is sick. You would you happen to have the original video unedited??

  • DAMNIT! As I clicked the video just now I said to myself "Bond... James bond.." and what do I hear when I get to the clip? Nothing.

  • great video guys, but how much does it cost to buy the engine?

  • Youtube is gay for taking the sound out.

  • wow u youtube is beginning to suck, i just watch this video a couple days ago with sound, lol. and there just doing a copyright bs, lol the video has been up for 2years!!!

  • forgot the windage tray!

  • 6 Bolt 4G63 engine is the best 4cyl ever made.

  • Not the best way to put on piston rings lol but good job

  • pyrocra, he torqued the bolts in correct sequence according to the manual. rewatch the vid

  • in actuallity how long did this take? and nice benny benassi.

  • As long as you have all your parts and specs ready to go it only takes about 2 hours to assemble a bare motor with have everything torqued down to spec. Maybe 3 if you have to file the rings if piston ring end gap is incorrect.

  • hell yea, now can u build a rotory motor in under 10 min?

  • That would be pretty fun to see.

  • You can build a rotary motor in real like in like an hour or 2. The simplest motors out there.

  • God I wish I had that kidn of money...I just wish I would have seen you tighten those head bolts in the proper order ;/ oh well

  • he still did the cross-tighten effect it was PERFECT but it was good lol.

  • nice to see ppl who know what they are doing, good job, shit looks tight!!!

  • Ha Ha HaHha!!!!!!!!

  • Great video, I love how you know all the procedures that go into overhauling the engine. As a fellow 4G63 owner, I'd be interested in knowing how long it really took you to build the engine, because let's not kid ourselves here, There's no way anything could build that work of art in 10 minutes.

  • esses caras sao fodas, sao muito bons

  • ahhhh, you didn't put the valve cover on! your not done!! :-D

  • yea i agree

  • awesome video!!

  • Awesome video, watched this a couple times because its very interesting!!

I noticed you were spinning the crankshaft after installing the bearings...is that ok to do that? I saw an install of a big block Chevy and was told not to spin the crank after lubing up the bearings and rods

  • First off I Loooooveee that you're playing Happiness is a Warm Gun when you show the turbocharger. But I was wondering if i could put that engine on my lancer ES?

  • hi i was looking into buying an eclipse and i found one that is a gs that i really like and i was wondering what i would have to change on the motor if i wanted to turbocharge it? like what would i have to change/upgrade on the motor and about how much would it cost to build the motor if i built it up by myself? i am thinking about boosting around the 18-24lb area..... any help? please reply here or send me a message. thanks

  • if you buy a gs, it will not have the 4g63 motor shown in this vid... it still has a 2.0l 4, but it is not anywhere near as responsive to turbocharging. If you wish to do a swap, it will be extremely time consuming and very pricey. a new 4g63 costs around 2 grand, and then throw in another grand for a turbo and wastegate, and yet another 5-800 dollars for a tranny. If you arent mechanically inclined, throw in several thousand in labor... so all said and done, it would cost $4000-6000

  • 420a is similiar to the dodge neons and some kias lol - get the 4g63 : )

  • you can turbocharge a the 2L I4 (420A) but it wont be nowhere near as good as a 4g63t. you will probably be able to maintain a max of 10lbs of boost.

  • how long did it really take you to do that in real time

  • What are you spraying the gaskets with?

  • thats what id like to know

  • I don't think its a good idea till you up the main caps on.

  • nice vid, the only 4g63 build on here (i can find)

  • Here's what I need to do myself. I'm gonna take some notes. I got a 1998 Eclipse GS in need of a 4G63T, and ima get her one.

  • haha you got a problem..I baught the GS thinking of doing the same thing (except I already got the 4G63T in my Talon TSI) but after I baught the car I did some research...turns out its nearly impossible without hours of modifications to put a 4G into a GS or RS..for one transmissions are opposite sides...engine mounts and so on...but don't worry..for 3-5 grand :S you can get yourself a nice turbo kit for the 420A motor from places like hahn raceraft (google it)..I'm still happy I got the 4G :)

  • Ya, you're quite right. The two engines basically have nothing in common. A quick look at some forums confirms it. It can still be done though. I just have to figure out if its worth it.

  • what about a 4g63(evo4 up)7 bolt its gearbox is on the other side

  • I'll look into it, but I hear that the 7 bolt is prone to crankwalk and cannot handle as much as the earlier version can.

  • yeah that happened in the evo4 a bit but wider mains in the 5 fix most of that (i think),or you could put a 4g64 crank in it :)

  • yessir, basically because the 420a is a chrysler motor and the 4g63t is a mitsu

  • Well done, biggest exhibition of skills ever. Is that a brand new engine? its all so... clean!

  • fuckin sick will you help me do mine!? You know what your doin man,how much hp is that built for that looks like the craziest 4g63t ive seen.

  • whoot...north Americas most powerful 4 cylinder engine :)

  • you got that right

  • you mean japans most powerfull engine

  • nope...north Americas...but now its one of the top

  • awsome video i will be using this video for tips when i pull my engine out this next coming up weekend lol awsome build and WHERE DID YOU GET THAT HEADER FROM!!!! lol i want that same one lol

  • Great work man, the 4G53T is truly a legendary engine!

  • nice work. You did it in about 3 days.

    3 different shirts :P

  • You did not set the pre tension on the timing belt correctly your auto tensioner was out too far. sweet video though

  • How is the motor running? You should help me stroke out my 4g63t in my evo ix.

  • I heard this motor blew up within 3 months of this vid...

  • nice man

  • hey nice , i got the same haha

  • Nice Video

You are need a turbonetics :))

  • youre never supposed 2 rush this job... take it slow... its a pain taking these out

  • S2DK, its not really a hard one too do. Try a GM QUAD 4, that one will really fuck with your head! It took me alot of beer to get threw that one, LOL

  • i dont know lol its a pain whenever i try working with the old man... and hes a mechanic

he likes working on american cars but down under its hard to get any.

  • one day he rushed like this and we forgot to put a few things in and we had to pull it apart again

  • Isn't a 4G63 the motor that's in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution?

  • Yes it is.
