  • I'm doing this in my JR High Choir. It's quite fun and I love doing all of the sound effects. The switching parts are quite hard for us 8th graders though(:

  • there is TOO much going on in their performance. we did this song in choir and we didn't do any moves and the audience loved it just the same. I think it can get to the point of being distracting. they did a good job singing, I just wouldn't have done so much choreography.

  • what do they say at 4:50 ? let every loyal maine man sing hooo hoo hoo?

  • @unclejohnthezef they're supposed to say drink drink drink!! Maine stein song baby!

  • @geistert I won't say that you're wrong, because you aren't. However, when you are publicly representing the University, as the UMaine Singers are whenever they perform, "drink, drink, drink!" is a bit over the line. So, we yell "woot, woot, hollah!" instead. It's not quite as much fun, but it works.

Incidentally, mstrswrd06, what year is this from?

  • ew, they CLAP?! where are the instruments?! ow ow ow...

  • im learning this song in show choir im so scared im gonna screw up the words when we have to perform it.

  • This reminds me of a meth addicts nightmare.

  • Im doing this song right know in my choir, but nothing like how you did it... Good job :)

  • nothing like the one i have to sing in my choir. well its good.

  • Did the guy on the left not get the memo about the Tuxedo?

  • @cgarbo they do this song every year and invite up alumni to perform with them if their at the concert. So that guy is an alumni and thats why he isnt wearing the tux.

  • Loved it, just one question, WHY did the take off there pants?!

  • sick

  • the man in the yellow shirt as is graceful as a sack of potatoes.

  • i think i was on mushrooms when my choir sang this.... they had this really weird sound device thing that made the most astounding sound. it was wood and metal and bent and awesome.

  • yea for maine stein song! GO BLUE!

  • I'm not sure whether this choir is taking the song too fast, or whether my choir is taking it too slow! Awesome job! Tada!! Lol

  • D'awww...This was cool! What a neat song.

  • We sang this song in high school (Madrigals) in Vegas, 1992? It was so fun! I couldn't remember the lyrics all these years later but this is very similar to how we performed it.

  • i love this song my choir is doing this song and it ROCKS!!!!

  • i dont enjoy this arrangement it is supposed to be a way intense battle scene choir had amazing energy though

  • my schools troubadour choir sounds almost just like this. these guys have a lot more men though, better sound from that section. I love this song.

  • their so good!!

  • HAHA I sang this song when I went to High School in Maine lol

  • How fun!!! I remember doing jabberwocky in high school -- such a fun song! Great job here!

  • @xxVampiricRomancexx Sorry, but no. I'm in Mr.Petty's. In Kissimmee,Florida.

  • @popcornshrimp360

oh-like the one with shortass "genesis" girl?

  • Comment removed

  • @speedmetaldemon666

Really!?!? Shortass!?!?!?! What do you mean "genesis"!?!?!?

  • @popcornshrimp360

    lmao

    its me-amrit

  • @speedmetaldemon666

lol.... I know, but still..............im not "shortass"

  • Fantastic, but the men are too loud. They're overpowering the ladies too much. And the dynamics aren't done very well. Otherwise, Fantastic.

  • Alright. I think this group sounds very good and that the choreography was cute.

BUT what really annoyed me happened before they even started singing. What was with all the chatter and touching of faces and moving around? It's very unprofessional looking. I'm only in a high school choir and I know that. One is not to move in between pieces. I don't care if your nose itches, keep that hand at your side. Otherwise the choir just looks sloppy.

But like I said, they sounded fantastic.

  • This piece is a tradition for the choir. they ask all alumni to come down and join the song.

it's not part of the program, just a fun ending tradition.

  • @mojojojo3435 Oh, well that explains that. I take my statement back, then. Very good job!

  • my mens ensembles doin this song tooo for our closing song

  • that is how you sing this song, as if you were Mad as a Hatter.

  • LOL!!! My choir is going to do this we sound awesome, and the moves are fun! This is a good finishing song!!!!!!!!!!

  • oh my!! pants off...that was unexpected...

  • To: aslater85

You know that this is Eric Whitacre, right? He composed this song with some 12-note harmonies, a lot of them clashing. They sang it perfectly according to the written music.

  • To dnmussey: Thank you. I was going to respond, but hey. You said it better.

  • Delusions... I agree that a choir should be able to have fun. But like I said in my post, the choral integrity was compromised. The "fun" took over, and the song sounded bad. The song is goofy, and insanely entertaining, but there is NO reason the chords can't be in tune.

  • The actions may have been cute if you were in eighth grade. Choreography should *never* compromise the sound, and the choral sound was, to be frank, bad.

A collegiate choir needs to be professional and mature.

  • Yes. Collegiate choirs need to be professional and mature, but there's nothing wrong with having fun, especially with a song that has been a choral tradition for years upon years at the school. Jabberwocky doesn't have to be the most professional choral piece in the library... it's a ridiculous song, and it's quite "immature" in it's own way. Be glad that the Singers have fun with what they do.

  • @aslater85 You probably have nothing better to do than look up videos, and comment badly about them. Just because this is a 'collegiate' choir, it doesn't mean that they can't have fun.

By the way, it seems you know nothing about music. They sang the song exactly how it was written, and the notes were MEANT to conflict with each other, and they always resolved.

So, if you have nothing nice to say, then don't say anything.

  • the spontaneous nudity at the end was...unexpected. This is such a great song! We're doing it this semester in Vanderbilt concert choir, and I can't wait!

  • I love singing this song, but the words are soooo weird (in a good way)

  • This is so fun!!

  • @mstrswrd06 yes it is the sam pottle arrangement. we are doing the same arrangement in our choir

  • @mstrswrd06 you're very right.

  • @mstrswrd06 wrong

  • In Japanese, "うまいね" (pronounced "UMAINE") means "It's great!"

  • OR "Your play is great!"

  • OMG, i cant believe! i loved this song when i sang in in high school! yay

  • I just missed doing this song in high school and have been obsessed with it since. You guys sound fabulous.

  • Oh what a memory! I performed this in high school over ten years ago and while watching this I could STILL remember the choreography!! :)

  • who was the conductor? i think i know her, but i'm not sure.

  • The conductor is Dr. Dennis Cox. You mus be thinking of someone else if you thought he was a woman. He is an amazing conductor however.

  • i love how they did the song!!

  • Haha very creative with that actions! My choir just sang this, and at the end with the "ta-da" everyone shot off a little party poppers. It was fun, but great job!

  • my choir is singing jabberwocky, but it's a different version. it's more mysterious and creepy sounding, and it has lots of disonance.

    good job!

  • i love this song its so fun our chorus class is singing this !!

  • This is amazing. My choir is currently working on this piece. absolutley amazing!

  • i love this song and its one of my favorite poems, I did this song in junior high and had so much fun with it, though when i start singing it people look at me like i'm crazy ha.

  • Hahaha AMAZING! My high school has to sing this song and it's utterly funny as hell.

    LOVE IT!

You guys sang it tooo tooo well.

    Lovin the actions!

  • Yay! Love this! My High School choir did this last year (we're in Maine as well and my chorus teacher knows the chorus conductor from Umaine!) so we did the same coreography you guys did... it was so fun!!!!

  • I wish that we could perform it like that. I love that song. Even if I am the pianist.

  • This song is absolutely "Frabjous"!! This poem reminds me of my mom, because she always says "Beware the Jabberwock, my son" to me for some reason. The choreography is gorgeous as well. I'm jealous~!

  • cool

    ;]

  • I love this song, Kind of bummed you can't hear the sopranos at my fav. part.

    Oh well, so sweet anyway

I really wish that I could once again be part of something so much fun and amazing. Gratz to all of you :)

  • Oh, choralography, how you amuse me so.

In all seriousness, though, you guys sound awesome.

  • We aew doing this song in choir but a completly different version! but they are amazing!

  • THey are really really good!!! their actions are very sharp and crisp! Very well done!

  • The actions are kinda...terrible.

  • I'm singing this version in choir this year.

  • my concert choir is doing this for our fall concert.

i am eager to see if we sound as good as they do!

  • This is composed by Sam Pottle, orginally scored for chorus, piano, and toy instrument orchestra (no "choral-ography").

  • This is bad ass. Props to the choir. Sounds awesome. Great use of choreography even with the risers. Awesome job.

  • Let me tell you, people have different views on how music should be sung. But, the Junior High All-State (OCDA) sang this song as well. This piece is not difficult. The other version is more difficult, and intersting. This is a playful song, and ANNOYING! Thank you and have a nice day. Well done though, but to childish.

  • It's also the choir's alumni song, which means it needs to be easy enough for people to remember.

  • There's some right bizzare harmony in this piece too, which is fairly tricky to pull off well.

  • Yes, this is how Jabberwocky should sound.

  • Congratulations! This video now appears on CollegeUncensored!

  • Hahahahaha we're doing this song right now!

Very very good job! <3 <3

  • Oooohhh memories. I remember doing this my Junior year in high school. It was my favorite song. The way you guys did it was great. I loved the movement and enthusiasm. It was well choregraphed and you guys performed it very well.

  • Hey check our version (Wachusett Regional High School) and tell us what you think. Its really similar to yours. Our ending is exciting though I don't know how well you can see it on the video. Search: Wachusett Singers/Chamber "Jabberwocky" 2007

  • hahah sooo awesome!!!!! you guys soung soo great, and so funny

  • Ahhhhhh! I love UMAINE! Singing with them was...crazy. But I can never get over how spectacular they are during all their songs...especially this one. Bravo <3

  • I have a friend that was there! Thats the night UMaine went into the frozen 4! I remember that! W00t! only 2 more years till I'm there! ^_^
