I watched this last night and it was inspiring. I always forget that as my awareness increases thoughts and distractions become easier to see. Its frustrating :)
Doing my uni work at the moment and a friend gave me some bad news, really grateful that I could just sit (in the library, haha) and calm everything down, to inspire and allow the bigger picture to be seen. Thankyou
I have to say I did the meditation and I can't believe I did it! While doing the meditation my cat,Syd jumped on my lap and started to move around with the purring sound and I still meditated not getting distracted. THANX TARA! It worked.! :)
WooW !! Thank you so much it realy helped me !! I'm doing it everyday it helping me to relax and be calm and forget about stupid problems !!!! u ROCK , I LUV U ^____^
@katcross8810 Try it properly you would realize that your mind gets an amt. of rest lot higher than what sleep can provide and then you will stop being sleepy.
Its amazing to me how much "emotion" I can accumulate in a single day and how much emotion can be eliminated just by taking 5 minutes or so to meditate. I was stressed and angry and after meditating I am calm and stress free. I think I am going to start and end my day this way every day.
Just looking at you I'm feel better... very peaceful... I often try but without "success"... I should keep on trying, you made me want to retry :o) Thanks!
Very wonderful video. What freaked me out a little is that when you asked if our stomaches were a little hungry, mine definately was. And then when I moved my legs to get up and check if dinner was done, you said if there was any urge to leave the room, try to resist that urge! Just at that moment! I did indeed stay to finish up, and it was the most peaceful moment I've had in a while. Thank you.
@WynterSong That's lovely thank you. I still struggle with the chanting aloud a little. Its the English reservation! Need to let that go. I follow Louise Hay in facebook and she has some fabulous affirmations so I may also try choosing one of those to focus on. Thanks for replying. x x
Very cool! Yes, more meditation from Tara would be an awesome treat towards my well-being. You explained the process in such a fun way, I've shared this with my Facebook friends too.
yay! i love this it really helped! ive noticed when i try to meditate i always feel light headed for some reason? ive tried it at different times of the day and different hunger levels.. but i always get it. is this normal?
Thank you thank you thank you! I found you on Twitter and now I'm addicted. I never knew yoga or meditation could help me. I'm very heathly girl( pleasently plump) lol and I can tell a major difference. Again thank you 10x's!
This was wonderful, Tara. I'm a hypnotherapist and I like to have people just notice "noises" and thoughts in much the same way to start them off into a deeper state. It's such an expansive, deep RELIEF to disengage from the attachment to noise - whether external or internal. Be well!
TARA thanks for all these videos! Regarding your last video, the topic about weight loss IS IT POSSIBLE AND HEALTHY TO LOSS 3 to 4 pounds per week?
I have like 12 extra pounds. I'm vegetarian but the thing is once I become anxious I use to eat "junk" food so that's the main problem, so just eating RIGHT 4-5 times a day, my usual diet, by the way, drinking a lot of water, and using this MEDITATION routine! whenever I feel anxious or after cardio routine.. You think I can drop 3 to 4 pounds week?
Im very young. Still in highschool, but I do have alot of distractions. My life if one big distraction and Im not trying to get away from it, but Im trying to manage it and deal with it calmy and not angerly or frusterated. This video helped me. As I was doing was you instructed I consintrated on my breath and the sound of your voice wich made it easier to concintrate on my breath. I know feel very calm and open. Thank you very much.
I particularly notice the effects that meditating semi-regularly has on my stress levels if I haven't meditated in a while. Just about all week I've been focusing on getting ready to graduate--just zoning in on "the now" can be a tangible relief.
Distractions are fine as long as you don't get attached to them. As soon as you decide if they are good or bad you have been trapped by them and suddenly they move your mind into the past or future, thinking that if they stop then I can meditate, or wishing that you were in the past when the distraction didn't happen. Eitehr way not in the present moment. Like your thoughts let them come and go holding on is the problem, Thanks so much
the philosophy you put behind meditation and distraction is amazing, i apply it daily but you explained it so well in this video! thank you so much for sharing this knowledge, your yoga vids are great!
Hi Tara, thanks for the video. I liked it very much. I don't do good with meditating on my own so listening to you briefly was very helpful. thanks :)
wow. im new at this and i am looking for ways to help me relax. going through some tough times and your voice and meditation really freed me for a moment. when i opened my eyes it was just a wonderful feeling,
Yea distractions are a pain for me sometimes. With school work and stuff like that. Sometimes distractions are problematic. But thanks for the video. Hope you make more videos aimed towards specific subjects.

Tara, I love this. I just love it. You make meditation accessible and non-threatening. You make it easy but powerful at the same time. Please keep it going! :-) I have a regular meditation practice, but you remind me to keep doing it.
Here's a tough one: Right now I'm sick and can't breathe through my nose at all, but I still want to meditate. Do you have suggestions for how to meditate when you're stuffed up and not feeling well?
I just followed along, and wow! I feel great right now. Sometimes I practice a brief meditation that I picked up in a self-defense course. It helps clear my mind when I am stressed, and I think I'll have to practice this as well. Thanks!
Why go into a lot of effort when you can have much more consistent results through the use of technology? Personally I do my daily meditation with Holosync by Bill Harris (I like to call it the Concorde of meditations). This tool allows me to go into a delta brainwave pattern each and every time I use it: very powerful and very effective!
I'm very easily distracted, especially when I'm studying. I'd love it if you could make a video with tips on how to improve concentration while studying. =)
Keep your videos coming Tara, you're doing great :-D
I loved your point about shutting off distractions, and it not necessarily being the best way to handle things in certain situations, when we could also simply learn to be aware of them, & return to our breath. Life is certainly not without distractions and it's great practical advice for those of us who live a life where it's more beneficial to be able to deal with distractions as opposed to shut them out of our lives.
Way back in the '80s I practiced self-relaxation by visualizing each muscle sagging or drooping, for about 10 seconds each, starting with the toes and progressing to the head.
And on the way, with each inhale, visualized breathing blue, relaxing and healing energy deep into the cells of each muscle and organ, and exhaling red negative energy.
You can mash it up if you like.
This achieved and super deep state of relaxation and slowed my heart rate to about 40 bpm. Often used it to fall asleep.
I just finished trying this and it was calming but a couple of times i did find myself thinkin bout other stuff. you should keep doing videos like these because they're helpful and can be done anywhere.
oh, I get destructed really often, The worst is when i can't sleep, because I'm thinking. Not about anything serious, just stupid stuff like: will it rain? or what I'm gonna wear tomorrow...
I usually take a 10 min snooze to deal with distractions.

Tara,
There is a completely different way to approach this:
zen means: no attachment to thoughts. Don't try to stop
thoughts; just don't pick up up on them and go with them.
