  • @rizen126 Спасибо

  • Thank you.

  • This is a great vid, and I've watched it a number of times. I would like to know what the music is, though. It is so perfect.

  • Music by Norwegian artist: Ole Edvard Antonsen, song called "Vidda" . It can be found on his latest album Landscapes.

  • @jca5645link Music by Norwegian artist: Ole Edvard Antonsen, song called "Vidda" . From the album "Landscapes"

  • fantastic video, fantastic dog, fantastic music.

  • Fantastic video, fantastic dog, fantastic music!!

  • Fantastic Dog, fantastic video, fantastic music!

  • my GS loves snow to.. he wants to eat all the snow xD

  • Kommer det noe nytt om conan snart da? :)

  • My GS loves the snow. His paws slide on the tiles when he is in the house. I lmao. hahahahahahahahahahaha

  • I couldn't see clearly enough whether Conan was wearing special 'booties' for his feet. Do giant schnauzers need protection for their feet in the snow?

  • In this case, he is wearing special "booties". If the temp goes below minus 5 degrees celcius, and the snow has the right texture, the snow will clot under his feet. Due to the long hair on the legs, I never go out skiing without either fitting him with booties, og bring them with me. I also carry spare ones, has they are easily lost in deep snow. During winter extra attention to the hair on the paws are required.

  • That makes a lot of sense. Thanks a lot for the quick response. I hope to get a GS one day and take him snowshoeing here in the Canadian Rockies. He can have his own sled!

  • There is also a kind of grease, you can apply to the paws, that will prevent snow and ice from clotting. It will also help keep his paws, soft, and prevent fissures in the skin. Available at most pet shops. But I only use it in mild conditions. At severe cold, I would always prefer "booties".

  • The perfect work-out buddy.

  • Cool dog, mine is a bit more boisterous.

he also love snow and water.

    keep up the good work.

    love your video

  • Beautiful dog, work, place and video! I wish I could bring mine (I have 2 brothers) to do such things in the snow! I live in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the coldest it gets here is about 4ºC, during winter or fall, in dawn. But most of the time it is hot. They seem to manage it alright.

But I ride my bycicle with them and one of them pulls me, the other seems lazy. It is so much fun.

And you hike with yours, that's just great! He's absolutely adorable.

  • Thanks for great feedback. You should check my latest video. There he pulls a small cart. It is actually a bike-cart, intended for pulling your kids in. I've modified it, so that it siuts conan, and thus we can train on pulling the sleigh even during the summer. I think it is very important to get him to work. Just walking the same old routes, is getting a bit boring it seems like. I'm planning to build a small agility track for him, just to keep even more entertained

  • I'm just stunned

  • Wonderful vid. A dog with a job = very happy puppy. It's obvious he enjoys it. When my Lab/Husky was younger (16 now), he had a harness and small sleigh for the winter and we used to pull kids in the park. He also pulled his own dog food when I went to buy it. We tried a RadioFlyer wagon in the summer, but it made way too much noise lol. My dog got the Husky double coat and suffers in the summer. A temperature of -18C is heaven (for me too), especially on a nice sunny day (we're in Montreal).

  • Thanks for comment. As said earlier. Conan can't stand the heat, and at the moment it is 30 degress C, here in Norway now, and he is tormented. Just bought a new wagon for use in the summer. Go to the supermarket, and he pulls the lot back home. Great fun.

  • Excellent video! We have 2 giants, the oldest just turned 1 year old and our baby boy is 5 months. I would love to see them learn to pull a wagon since we don't have snow! Thanks for the great video!

  • What a wonderful video and hard working GS. Our Ronnie has just turned 6 months and I would love to take him to see some snow - he is not that found of the warmth and always loves to sleep on the colder tiles on the kitchen floor.

  • Conan is also a working dog, as well as a very dear pet and friend. During the winter, the plan is that he shall pull the small sleigh when skiing. During the summer he is carrying a dog pack when out in the mountains, or when grocery shopping. I'm currently planning making a small trolley/cart, that he can pull during the summer when hiking on roads. When hiking for several days in a row, he needs to carry his own gear and food.

  • Fantastic dog, great video. I hope he doesn't get too cold? Thanks for subscribing to my Giant Schnauzer videos.

  • Thanks for feedback. My GS seems to thrive the colder it gets, during the summer on other hands, he is just walking around panting, and desperately seeking shadow. He just loves the cold snow. He must use socks however, or the snow will form lumps of ice between his toes. The socks, does however, reduce his ability to pull at full strength

  • We have a blanket box in my bedroom. Arnie also gets too hot and sleeps on the blanket box by the open window. He is a "water dog" and jumps in every ditch and pond, even if they're iced up.

  • PS. How old is Conan? Great name - we must be watching the same videos. I can tell from your video that you feel the same way for him as I do for my Giant Schnauzers.

  • Conan is definitely a "water dog" loves to jump into lakes and rivers, but he must be able to stand, he hates swimming. Conan is at the time of the video (march 2008) 2 years and 11 months, and very much a pup still. He has been with me since july 2007. He is 74cm at shoulderheight, and weighs about 44kg
