@slopere: why the greatest rock'n'roller of the past century? he's the greatest rock'n'roller of the past and the current centuries ... the greatest ever! Once John has retired there will never be such music again and if so, it will not compare to his quality ...
I love this song,im 16 and my dad introduced this to me a couple of weeks ago and now i can stop listning to it ,i have always liked john fogerty.:) great voice
Good album! (Eye Of the Zombie) Don't know why Fogerty himself reckons it as inferior. I guess it's rather because of his pretty miserable times he was going though in the 80s. But musically I daresay it's still more interesting than his most recent albums.
I saw this tour in November 1986 at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk, VA. Delbert McClinton opened. It was a good show. He didn't do any CCR songs because he was involved in a dispute with the record company (Fantasy) at the time. So, as a protest, he never played any CCR songs at any show for a while.
Already having most of Fogerty's music, I purchased this "Album," (Eye Of The Zombie) in '86, the year of its release, and the sound of this song, as well as the instrumental, "Goin' Home," made me a Fogerty fan, for life.
Not taking anything away from all of his previous and current/future music, these two songs just seemed to reach out and shake my hand.
Oh, I nearly thought that Fogerty does not like songs from Eye of the Zombie. "Sail away" has very surrealistic atmosphere with interesting association...very good song.
Love it,the music from Fogertys 1986 album Eye of the zombie is underrated.Wish there could be more decent recordings from the Rockin All Over The world Tour 1986.If anyone have some great recordings from that tour please post it here.
Fogerty toured with a great band at the time and brought with him great backup singers ( Willi Green Jr.,Bobby King and Terry Evans )
He played no CCR songs, but songs from Eye of the Zombie,Centerfield and some great covers
