Oh boy, I didn't know that artillery shells and grenades make huge fireballs, a knife wound or bullet can easily kill an extra but never an important character, you can shoot a thompson (on full auto mind you) and hit EVERYTHING, and no one has to EVER reload

the americans just stand in the open and don't get hit while the japs hardly even fire their weapons. One of the Americans got hit 4 times but he is still able to kill 20 japs in an assult. WTF?

What about the scene where they decide whether or not to kill the german after the medic is killed by the grenades. And the bit where allied soldiers mercilessly kill surrendering troops during D Day. And what do you mean by heroes? The Allies were better trained than most german forces, except where they get raped by the elite paratroopers int he village battle.

Well, I'm sure it's no coincidence that the two allied soldiers who shot the surrendering troops are no main characters in the movie. Spielberg probably just wanted to be historical accurate and avoid critics.

Besides, I didn't say Saving Private Ryan was the perfect example of a way too patriotic American movie, did I? But for a non-American it's just sometimes like "Oh, the Americans AGAIN are the heroes that save the day!"

as I read an article about the difference of US and Japanese infantry weapons, on the pacific islands, when japs shot 2 bullets, they would gain 60 bullets from yankees. but in this movie, it seems like those japs held the advantage.

Thats true for the article, with our M1's that were semi-automatic and the thompson smg's and 30 cals, we had a lot of fire going out at them. The Japanese, though, only had bolt action rifle, a portable machine gun(like the ones in here) and one stationary machine guns. Thats about all they had, but they still made good use out of them as you can see
