  • Most vehicles achieve maximum efficiencey at a constant speed of 70-90 km/h. My large motorbike when I ride sensibly on the highway can achieve 4.5l/100km. However, in city my motorbike consumes alot more.

  • Meine geht auch falsch, zeigt immer 2,4 an. ;)

  • Acctualy, this car use 6.5L od 100 km/h on highway and about 8L on 140 km/h. For city 12-14L per 100 km. Anything else is not true.

  • @ironmaidensr it all depends on how you drive... I had a 86 gti, I belive my best was at around 7.5-8 on 100km, my worst was probably around 12-14 on 100km both on FWY.... On my first trip I drove regularly probably max speed 140kmh. Second one was about a 900-1000km trip from Switzerland (im swiss) to Germany, thats a long drive for us Swiss, I'd say that on the Autobahn (FWY) I probably drove under 140kmh a few minutes, most of the time it was 160-200kmh so it depends on speed n how u drive

  • With constant speed of 90-100 km/h maybe true>>

  • @limpampoo

I'd even say it was between 80-95, highway almost the whole time. I've got lower values, but coming down from a mountain, this one was in normal driving.

  • It is amazing for GT model and injection motor! In specs on internet I've found 8l/100km in city/highway driving...is it true?

Even only in highway mode it is small consumption for a old petrol engine>>

    Is it reliable?

  • 8l/100km hmm yes, I think it's quite realistic. To go for 8l/100km only in highway driving I guess you have to pull up to 130-140 km/h. The problem with this car is the aerodynamics hehe, it's like throwing a brick.

This engine is famous for its reliability. Little electronics (just the injection) and 'high' displacement for its relative horsepower makes it a long life one.

  • I'am thinking about one which is for sale here, or golf 3 TD but with rust on back door and around rear head lamp's, not important places for safety, but economical TD..But GT is in better shape(no rust) and faster>> Tuff one for me..

Do you now something about 3 TD golf's reliability?

  • I think a VW TD is always a good choice, I'd go for a TDI in any case.

I guess is not an easy choice.

Plus I don't know in your place, but here a GTI -like mine- is way better than just a GT, more power, more efficiency and, avobe all, electronic injection.

  • is that 1.8 8v? if yes its totaly true because one of my friend has one n it cost nothing to tank up

  • @celicagt4ftw Yep, 8v.

  • How did you shift?

Would be interesting to know if you really only used 4,9l...

  • @tw00z

2.500 - 3.000 rpm, slow accelerations, almost no use of brakes.
