  • in january 2011 apple is gonna make 3-4 new sizes of the ipad. maybe flash, multi-tasking. but a camera (yay!) is posative. and other updates that arn't as big, not announced yet.

    ppl just wait,

the price will drop they say 100-300 dollars. somewere around there.

    wait,

we always have to wait for apple.

    and isn't it worth it?

    yes.

  • your eyes dart to the camera then back like in a second

  • In terms of hardware (except battery life), capability the HP SLATE pwns the iPad. In terms of the OS, iPad wins. I see nothing wrong with the device (The HP SLATE) itself, but rather that they chose to use Windows7 on it. They probably should of (Like you said)just made their own OS or just used Android or something. Maybe some Linux guy will make a touch os and cross platform the drivers... Meh, iguess we'll just have to wait and see what happens to the device.

  • First of all, you can't compare the ipad wtih the HP slate, you're comparing apples to oranges. The iPad is NOT A MAC COMPUTER NOR A PC COMPUTER. To put it in perspectice, its an ipod touch with a big screen. It has no functionability; it can't run normal mac programs, can't download files, can't run flash, can't be tweaked etc. The HP slate IS A PC, which means it will have all of the functionality of a computer, with a touch screen as a bonus. Overall i'd rather just have a laptop.

  • @GoodVibesX I'm not going to get into a big debate however you can tweak an ipad by jailbreaking it and you can run custom applications and you can download files. . It can run any programs that people program it, granted that the HP Slate is definitely a Windows OS slate tablet that doesn't mean that necessarily people want to have the Windows OS they want something that's easy to use to surf the web. There are also programs being built for it by the jailbreaking it

  • @GoodVibesX by the way I am not trying to fight, I use Windows PC's all the time and love them as well as Mac's and the ipod touch, you can run applications on all of those, not necessarily Windows/Mac Programs but there are programs being developed, granted with a tablet running Windows 7 you can run more programs with windows however some people don't want to manoover there way around windows

  • @computerfanboy Now that you mention it, i dont understand how people find it hard to "maneuver" through windows. It doesn't take a genius to figure it out. And the touch features on the HP slate will be nothing like other tablets running win7. And you basically are saying people will find the touch interface on the HP slate bad because it requires more than one click to start up a program. How is that a huge problem? Pardon me if im being aggressive, but i dont understand.

  • @GoodVibesX its not hard to maneuver around its just while people are on the go they just want there applications there and to touch instantly, imagine if you wanted to use this while your working out wouldn't you rather just click an app and have it open.

  • @computerfanboy You're right, the apps on the iphone OS are a tad more convenient to launch that on a windows OS, but you have to remember this is the iPad and HP slate we're talking about. Someone at the gym or on an afternoon jog isnt going to whip out an iPad to check facebook and play a game. If anything the iPod is the most convenient solution in that case. I'm not saying that the iPad isn't a bad product, however I'm saying for what its capable of, I'd rather just have a normal iPod.

  • Lots of Apple haters giving you thumb down, good video.

  • Linux FTW! If any OS should be put on a Tablet PC, it should be Kubuntu, or Ubuntu netbook remix.

  • @EasyLinux that's what I'm talking about Ubuntu netbook remix will work very well. This is exactly what I am talking about

  • @EasyLinux

I agree, i'm not a big fan of linux for a PC computer, mainly becuase i've never gotten it fully working yet, but for any mobile device, linux kills competition.

  • @EasyLinux Right now only OS that could be put on Tablet are iOS, WebOS and Android.

Lots of Tablets are coming up with Android but they'll fail as Android isn't optimized for Tablet form factor there aren't any apps to support the OS on Tablet either. WebOS and HP could come up with a good tablet by end of the year which might be good enough to challenge iPad, till then its iPad all the way.

And you have to give it to Apple for this, first successful Tablet ever.

  • your not a windows nor a mac nor a linux fanboy no your a computerfanboy

  • @djorkid :D

  • ye but i am sure you could download photoshop which would be awesome

  • @MritalkApple it would be interesting with photoshop on the Hp slate if they allowed a pen tool with great tracking on the device, imagine the pro's that artist would like about it.

  • @computerfanboy defo im subscribeing

  • @MritalkApple thank you!

  • You do realize that you can easily create a shortcut to any program on Windows, including Control Panel. Not really as complicated as you make it out to be. 1-click to launch right off the desktop or in the taskbar.

BTW, you say that the Slate should have a Linux based OS, but Lenovo did exactly that with the Lenovo IdeaPad U1. That is the worst aspect of the device. The custom Linux OS is horrendous. HP did the right thing, you just don't seem to know your way around Windows (ie. shortcuts.)

  • @cool8man FYI check my youtube account about Fences (see what I actually do know) by the way long time Windows user here has too many shortcut's on his desktop

  • @cool8man also it may be very easy for a computer geek like myself to do this, there are so many people who would just prefer it to be done for them

  • You had to type with a keyboard on the HP Media Smart because it was a desktop PC. If you had been using a Tablet PC instead you would not need a physical keyboard. It is ready. You just haven't used Windows 7 without a keyboard obviously. And you say you're not a Windows/Linux/Mac fanboy, but you clearly prefer iPhone OS to Windows 7. I think you are nuts. iPad doesn't do anything that I need like a netbook does. iPad runs a mobile browser that doesn't display websites properly & has no apps.

  • I think acer or asus might be able to keep up, and also samsung. They all know how to do longer battery life, they can start with linux then move to google or windows.

  • @Mouthmusician actually you have a pretty good point with Ubuntu, I have seen the netbook edition and it could really work, very good point man, I would choose Linux because someone would find a way to make it work. Microsoft would probably just end up copying, I doubt that google can really catch up though

  • the main reason the ipad will win is because of the UI (OS) and the lack of an app store. just saying it. and the last thing is the media advantage... not the amount of music etc. but the media exposure surrounding the ipad release. I mean the headline on the New York Times and CNN websites was the ipad release. Camera is a great addition depending on video quality.

  • hey on your other channel on the video u have on how to get a mac like doc for windows how do u get your mouse to do the sonar effect every time you click. please and thank you! (:

  • @leoduran09 hey man, I got your comment. That is only part of my video recording , the software allows me to do that. I believe if you want to get something similar to Windows try out cursor effects and look for something similar, these effects are just part of the recording program I use which is called camtasia studio

  • @leoduran09 by the way also I might have used screenflow for mac, to change Mac Icons is somewhat hard to do believe it or not, under windows you can very easily.

  • Good argument, The camera does sound coo' :) And natal looks awesome, if it works :S

  • @leeboi222 Thank you :D

  • Spot on.....

  • This argument is played out. It's not all about the OS, it's also about the apps. Think about your phone example. Someone will come along (HP or maybe even Stardock) and skin windows so it's more touch friendly, just like Motorola did with Blur or HTC does on its handsets. The underlying OS can be hidden with a good shell. You seem young, so you probably don't remember back in the Win31 days when we use to have alternate shells for windows. I agree, HP slate won't kill the iPad, Apple will. :)
