Im am prowd to have Pastor Jerry Black as my pastor. As a Jr. Deacon of Beulah i would like to congradulate and thank Pastor Black for his humble service to the community and his congragation.
I think holding the sheet up is something I've seen more in churches in the south. I'm baptist and we don't even have a sheet on the table anymore due to amount of trays we now use to serve with. It's some kinda tradition is all I can think to tell u. May have no spiritual significance but a historical tradition to our culture.
I did not grow up Baptist, so I am wondering what is the significance of holding the white sheet up in front the emblems and table during the LS? I know that now the white sheet is tradition for churches since we don't have to worry about flies, etc in our buildings, but i have never seen it used to hide the emblems during the partaking.
@fhu07 I can remember that they would actually prepare the elements while that was being held up. Brake up the crackers and pouring the juice was all done right there

All the years I spent in church, it's still a complete mystery to me about what's going on behind that white sheet during communion.

@ldyjcj2 Its a tradition that goes back to the day when blacks worshiped in old buildings, holding the sheet gives it a reverence.....thats all
