There is some risk associated with ionizing radiation of any kind, but lets be clear on something: A CT scan will expose you to about 200-500 milirem of radiation. If you have three or four CT Scans that would be about 1 Rem. This increases your lifetime chances of cancer by about.001%. This is about the same as spending a couple hours near a person smoking.
It is highly unlikely that this woman's thyroid cancer is radiation related. Thyroid cancer is pretty common to begin with.
Computed tomography imaging exposure varies depending on area exposed. The largest dose you'll receive is about 10mSv (millisieverts) which is about 1 rem (roentgen equivalent man) this exposure is less than 5 TIMES THE MAXIMUM Total Effective Deep Dose equivalent exposure set in the United States Code of Federal Regulations for workers PER YEAR. Titled: Energy 10CFR20.1201
That depends entirely on how the machine is calibrated. Some machines, identical models in different parts of the town at different hospitals will be vastly different than the other. Sometimes 16 times higher than the other.
What kind of attitude is that? If you see a threat, you avoid it. It sounds like you don't care if you die 50 years from now or 10 years? There's a difference in my mind.
i've got to be honest on this coment I really don't care when i'll die weather its in a second a day a month a week a year ect i'm not scared of it >.>
There's a difference between living in fear and being smart. If you see a truck speeding at you, you get out of it's way. If you can see something is causing a problem, you fucking solve it.
The lady states "The only radiation I was ever exposed to was through medical testing." Bananas are radioactive with isotope potassium 40, cigarette smoke is radioactive with radon and polonium 210. An airplane flying at 33,000 feet is the same as about 1.5 chest x-rays. Flight attendants damage their oocytes during their lives by receiving radiation similar to workers in nuclear plants. They aren't even aware of this; they are not given dosimeters to see how much radiation they are receiving.
Be careful CT scan can cause cancer.
